I was hesitant at first to buy this newer model but I'm glad I did! The screen looks amazing! The new kickstand is far superior to the old one and the white color really pops. The 64GB of storage is good and bad in my honest opinion. I ended up needing an SD card even with the available 50+GB useable. I really wish Nintendo would have used a white contrast on the system itself, like with the Mario red version. Instead we get an all black system and white joycons. Pros: Screen, Kickstand, Storage Cons: Storage, Price, availability

Wow that Screen, a must for Handheld play!

Upgraded from a launch edition Switch and as someone who primarily plays handheld and not on my TV this was an absolute must. The battery life itself is so far superior that I didn't need to charge during even the longest gaming sessions or trips. But the kicker is the screen, it really is that far superior to the original Switch. It takes existing games to a different experience in handheld mode. If you only play docked on your TV, I'm not sure this offers much in terms of improvement, but handheld players this is a must.

If you’re able to snag yourself an OLED model definitely do. It is definitely worth the upgrade if you have a gen 1 switch. If you don’t have one at all definitely get this one if you are able to. The battery lasts longer than I thought it would. The screen is perfect and I wouldn’t worry about screen burn-in since I have seen people do tests with it leaving it on for weeks with no screen burn. The only thing that has happened with that test was that the screen didn’t appear as bright after the test. The doc is a really nice step up. I love that the entire back comes off rather than it having a little hinge like the previous ones. Apparently this doc has little upgrades hidden inside of it for future updates but of course don’t know for sure what that will mean for the OLED model. The joycons are the same as all the others just white. The Switch is just slightly longer by a fraction of an inch. My OLED fits in a case I got that was intended for the older models so don’t worry about it not fitting unless your current switch fits really snug tight in the case and you upgrade to this one. If you get this switch get a screen protector!!! Can not stress that enough. So glad I got one for it because with all the upgrades with the doc, it still will scratch your screen. My screen protector got scratches on the far left and right of the screen protector after putting it in the doc a couple times. The screen is safe thanks to the screen protector. Also this switch has a film over the screen already to protect it and you. When I say “and you” I mean that since the screen is glass and you drop it, the protective film that was put on it by Nintendo will keep the glass from scattering all over the place. Best thing to do is to not remove that protective layer. Never remove it! One downside with mine that others probably have experienced with their switches OLED and older was that my left joycon’s joystick made a springy noise when I would rotate it to the top left position. This has happened to some people and I was one of the lucky ones for this to happen to.

Exceptional hybrid gaming machine with one caveat

The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model has largely exceeded my expectations—especially as someone who enjoys gaming in handheld, tabletop and TV-docked formats. Right out of the box, the 7-inch OLED screen stands out: the colors are rich, contrast is sharp and the improved brightness really enhances portable play. Whether I’m immersed in story-driven games or racing friends in local multiplayer, the visuals feel more premium than previous versions. Performance-wise, it handles pretty much everything I throw at it—downloads are fast, loading screens acceptable, and switching between modes (handheld/tabletop/dock) is seamless. That said, it’s important to note that the core hardware (chipset/RAM) isn’t a leap over past models, so for ultra-high-end performance you won’t see a dramatic jump. For the vast majority of games, though, it delivers smooth and enjoyable gameplay. The battery life is decent — I’m getting a solid 4–6 hours of mixed use (handheld gaming, streaming) under moderate brightness. If I push it harder (higher brightness, wireless multiplayer) it drops closer to the lower end. So yes, it’s very usable on the go, but if you’re looking for “all-day unplugged” gaming you may want to keep the charger handy or opt for a break between sessions. I especially appreciate the wider adjustable kickstand (for tabletop mode) and the dock’s built-in wired LAN port for more stable online play when docked. These upgrades show that Nintendo has paid attention to the smaller but meaningful details. The internal storage has been doubled compared to older models, which means fewer immediate worries about running out of space—though a microSD will still be smart if you’re downloading a lot of games. If I were to mark two modest quibbles: First, the Joy-Con controllers and general ergonomics remain largely the same as previous models. So if you’ve had drift issues or hand-fatigue with earlier Joy-Cons, you might still feel those here. Second, because it’s more refined and premium, the value proposition is stronger if you’ll make full use of its handheld/tabletop strengths; if you mostly play on your TV and already have a Switch, the upgrade may feel less essential. All things considered: if you’re buying a Switch for the first time, or you love gaming on the go, transitioning to handheld/tabletop regularly, the OLED model is definitely a worthy pick. It pulls together thoughtful hardware refinements, a fantastic screen, and flexible modes of play—making it one of the best hybrid consoles out there right now.

I knew what I was getting into with the Switch OLED. I can't rate it based on what I want it to be, but rather what it is. The kickstand is much better, it's completely functional now and no longer cheap and flimsy. The sound is improved marginally. The new screen real estate is appreciated and it's absolutely gorgeous. The OLED screen really makes the colors pop and blacks are deep. It frankly is a game changer if you're playing handheld or tabletop. A night and day difference.

The upgraded OLED screen and build quality definitely adds a measurable amount of satisfaction! If you don't yet have a Switch, and plan on playing in handheld mode often, this is ABSOLUTELY worth it! If you already have a Switch, or only plan on playing mostly docked, you'll probably not benefit much from the upgrade. Battery life is better, speakers are better and the kickstand is WAY better! Again, none of this really matters if you're playing it docked 99% or if the time.

    New Switch

I’ve had both the original launch Switch and now the OLED. If I still had my original Switch, I am not entirely sure if I would have upgraded to the OLED, but since I sold my old Switch a couple years ago it made sense to buy the best/newest model. Now with that being said, I will hands down say that the best thing about the Switch OLED is the screen. If you’re going to play this handheld mode, then I would absolutely recommend the OLED model. The screen is much more vibrant, bright, crispier, and bigger of course. It makes playing in handheld mode that much better of an experience. I really wish they would have made some sort of upgrade to the processing power of the Switch, even if it was minimal. That would have really hit the OLED switch out of the park. There are times where I feel the system is simply just struggling. Even when using the eshop to browse games to buy. Overall, super fun family console. You can’t go wrong with all the Nintendo exclusives and you can’t play them anywhere else. The only other gripe I have besides no performance upgrade with the Switch OLED is that I wish they would make more 1st party Nintendo games and stop porting games from the Wii-U. Let’s see some more Switch exclusives Nintendo!! Overall, super fun console and the ability to pick up a game exactly where you left off on your TV is absolutely amazing. Especially having kids, I find myself having more time to game since I can play in handheld mode.

Nintendo hit a home run when they made this console! Not only can I play my games on the tv but I can also take the console out of the dock and play it handheld mode. The handheld mode comes in handy when a tv is occupied by another one of my family members. I can also buy another dock and connect the console to other TVs in my house. I would definitely recommend this to any consumer that's looking for some old school and current gen games to play. Definitely worth the price tag for the oled screen which display sharper images. Plays games really well with little to no lag or judder. The storage capacity is not that bad either but I do recommend upgrading if you're planning to purchase the old school nes, snes, n64, and Genesis collections. I think my only complaint about the console is that it doesn't do upgraded resolution. Games only display up to a max of 1080. With todays new consoles like Xbox and PS5 I was hoping to get some kind of 4K experience out of the console even if it wasn't native resolution. All that said, it's still a console worth owning and I'm happy with my purchase.

The screen of the OLED Switch makes the game more pop and aesthetic for the games. There was no problem running the console but storage is very limited. You can get Micro SD Card which is sold separate to gain more storage for any large games. The controllers are complex to handle but easy to get use too. Easy to use and a lot of fun to keep the party entertained!

Oled great picture quality. The joycons i suggest some other than company. Joycons may or can be better. The battery life is good an outside day or with the children at home. As well as the oled the design and color as a preference me like but feels greta in the hands and the games on the oled switch is fun to enjoy. Now the storage may be okay on my account but after all the buying for memeory its well added to notes to at least buy a 64gb memory is good if you dont need many games i have about 7 games for 32gb and for the eleast to say it great.

Not everyone needs this upgrade, but I highly recommend it! It is super nice having more screen real estate and the OLED makes your games reallly pop out in vivd colors and shines. The kickstand and upgraded speakers are nice but not really worth mentioning much. The slight dock upgrade helps as well. Not everyone will find it worth an extra $50 or $350, but I got my money's worth.

I am leaving this review after having my Nintendo switch OLED for the past year. I love this device so much. I actually had a Nintendo switch lite originally, and then returned it for the OLED. Since I enjoy playing primarily in handheld mode, I felt the screen on the OLED would give me a much more enjoyable gaming experience. I play on my Nintendo switch in handheld mode while my husband plays Xbox or PlayStation on the TV. It’s really cute that we can play separate games and still hang out with each other. Traveling with the Nintendo switch OLED is also nice. You can connect Bluetooth headphones and it’s so slim and portable. Even compared to other handheld devices, there are literally no other ones that have a 7 inch OLED screen. I’ve been looking into other handheld PCs, besides the steam deck, and ROG Ally. Been following a few Indiegogo campaigns. For my needs, the Nintendo switch OLED is absolutely perfect because it has a gorgeous large screen, long battery life, easy to replace parts like joy cons, lots of customization options, and tons of couch co-op games!

If this your first Switch, definitely get this OLED version if you could one. The screen is awesome than any of those three other versions. The kick stand is exactly how it should be: sturdy and stay in place at almost any angle. The extra 32GB also helps but a 512GB card would carry a lot more games. These three features alone are well worth the upgrade to the earlier three versions I already own. Well worth the $50 difference if you're only getting one.

As an owner of the original Switch that came out in 2018 or so, I was reluctant to repurchase something that I already had just because the screen size was bigger and had OLED. Watching reviews online DOES NOT do the screen justice! No stores had it on display so I could compare it to my original screen so I had nothing to go by except reviewers that raved about the awesomeness of the OLED screen. Just purchased it less than 24 hours ago and got it setup and transferred all my saved data from my old Switch (which was a painless process). Re-loaded my Zelda BTW game and.....WOW!! What a difference it made playing it again with the new screen - this was how Zelda and other top tier games should be played. The richness of the colors and deep blacks is just outstanding to view. Since I have only played a few minutes and have not used the LAN dock feature I cannot comment on it. I only play the Switch in handheld mode but I'm sure it's a decent upgrade as well. One thing I will be getting is a glass screen protector since I've read that the screen still scratches easily so be careful if you don't use one. So if you don't have a Switch yet... this is the one to get. If you've owned the original one like myself, it's worth the upgrade seriously. I thought it wouldn't make a difference but it was glorious to play Zelda again. It's as if I needed eyeglasses for the longest time and finally got contacts or prescription glasses and the detail that I missed and saturation of colours just came ALIVE!! Sure it's not the Switch Pro with a faster processor or 4K but so what? I'm sure that version will be awesome but waiting for that in the future when you can play the games and enjoy it now is too good to pass up.

A MUST upgrade for unDocked users!

Unfortunately, no one can be told how incredible this Display upgrade is. You have to see it for yourself. The vividness and color range is extraordinary and a giant leap for those who play mostly undocked. The screen size is also larger, and though it is only .8 of an inch larger (7” vs 6.2”) due to the shrunken bezel, fills the space better and is visually noticeable. Although there are no upgrades under the hood, the Display alone justifies an upgrade for mostly handheld users. fHowever, there are a few upgrades to the Dock, including a slight design change and addition of Ethernet port. An advantage if you play online, however at the expense of the upgraded display. In addition, the console itself has a few changes, including the system buttons, which increases the size of the power button and split volume rocker to volume up and down buttons; improved speakers which were moved to the bottom edge of the console but sound better; but more importantly a much needed upgraded kickstand similar to a Microsoft Surface. These upgrades do not revolutionize the console, but make it the definitive version if you do not, for some crazy reason, own a Switch and I cannot stress enough how much of an upgrade it is for undocked play. Lastly, there are a few caveats to consider. Even though the display was slightly increased, it does make the console slightly larger and will make certain accessories like pouches, carrying cases, and, more importantly, grips not fit. However, new accessories have been created for the OLED model, so make sure to look out for compatibility when outfitting your console.

If you haven't yet purchased a Nintendo Switch console, or you're still playing on the OG system from March 2017, this is a must buy! The updated screen is larger and the OLED picture quality makes even older games pop with colors and brightness that I didn't know was possible. The improved kickstand finally makes tabletop mode a viable option, and the dedicated LAN port makes online play more accessible and reliable.

It’s been tough few years, have to say when my wife wasn’t awake turn to our Switch to unwind. Got it in 2019, right before the upgraded battery release of base model. It wasn’t lasting very long before needing to recharge on the little charging stand I’d got. Heard the OLED model was better in a few ways. It’s great the screen is bigger, the colors do jump out at you. Played NMS and wow! The end of the day what I think this model does best is the battery life. First week it lasted over 7 hours before needing a charge. Don’t normally play that long, have to say Factrio is a game that hooked me in. Can play and listen to audiobook or podcast on sleepless nights. When I did, turned on stop watch and two times over 7 hours. Highly recommend a larger SD card. We have the 256GB in first and OLED the ACNH 512GB. It doesn’t take long to fill up cards with many games having more then one title on them. Looking at you Bioshock, Assassin’s Creed Enzo collection, and Borderlands. Not to mention if you want to get some of the great games that are digital only. It has a much softer sounding fan, stays cooler when playing as well. At the end it’s the battery that’s not made me regret getting us a second Switch.
