The Switch 2 is a big upgrade from the original Switch. The screen looks much better, games run smoother, and it feels more powerful overall. I really like being able to play both handheld and on the TV, and older Switch games run faster. The downside is the price and the battery life, which could be better. Also, not every game at launch feels brand new. Overall, it’s a great console for Nintendo fans and anyone who likes portable gaming. I’d definitely recommend it if you already enjoy the Switch.

    It's a amazing console!

The console is amazing, think of as a super gameboy advance or a super advanced Nintendo DS, with a single screen. It is a 1080p screen with alot of brightness and you can push upscaled 4k 60 fps on the tv 4k screen. Looks amazing. There is even settings where you can turn on dlss, which is a upscaler to help make graphics look more realistic colorful and clear, 120hz, mode for faster fps, low latency mode for even faster respond speeds, rgb range, and hdr for more colors. To make the console run at max settings. Pros Screen: 1080p lcd screen but it's still pretty good for gaming. Sound: It's good and has base but it could be louder. Battery: depending how how long you play it lasts 3 hours, mine lasts about a day but thats with breaks after 45 min. Maybe i got a good one. Connection: it connects real quick and stays. Build: really good build! Cooling: cooling functions work perfectly. Memory storage: comes with 250gb of storage bht it can read up to 2 tb micro sd, i Recommend a sd card called (Next) 1 tb express, you get from best buy made specificly for the switch 2, 1 tb which can read speeds from 600 to 800mps, there is no 2 tb version yet as in this review, but 1 tb does fit, does work perfectly after the console will as you to forge it. It works. Summery: The switch 2 is no oled as this review, but it is a really good console that can play its older games, upscale them to higher resolutions with more colors and the console has a nice build to last longer when gaming. Aside of the sound, and battery being ok, which is expected the power of the console and screen being lcd 1080p draining the battery more, when phones have 4k oled. When docked it runs like a true console on tv. So with that said it's amazing console and i give it a 10/10

Improved CPU and graphics really make this console a great upgrade from the OLED Switch. I really like how the controller attaches magnetically attaches to the main console. I really appreciate that most controllers from the prior generation is compatible with this one, just wished that I could use the older memory cards. While the battery life seems to be less, it’s expected for a more powerful system. Overall, this is another great console from Nintendo.

Nintendo Switch 2 Console Review The Nintendo Switch 2 is a remarkable leap forward for Nintendo’s hybrid gaming platform, successfully building on the strengths of the original Switch while addressing many of its limitations. Design & Build The Switch 2 maintains the iconic hybrid design, allowing seamless transition between handheld and docked modes. The slimmer bezels, larger 8-inch OLED display, and lighter weight make gaming on the go more comfortable and visually stunning. The new Joy-Con controllers feel sturdier and more ergonomic, with improved analog sticks that reduce drift issues. Performance Powered by an upgraded custom processor, the Switch 2 delivers smoother gameplay and faster load times. Games that previously struggled, like open-world titles, now run in 60 FPS in handheld mode and up to 4K upscaled when docked. Battery life has also been extended, averaging 6-8 hours depending on the game. Game Library & Backward Compatibility At launch, the console supports all original Switch titles and offers enhancements for select games. New first-party titles showcase the console’s power, with sharper visuals and more complex environments. The inclusion of a larger internal storage and expandable memory slot makes digital gaming much easier. Online & Features Nintendo has upgraded its online services with quicker connections, cloud saves, and better matchmaking. The new interface is cleaner and more intuitive, with improved eShop navigation. Pros: Stunning OLED display with better portability Significant performance boost and faster load times Backward compatibility with original Switch games Improved Joy-Con design and battery life Cons: Still lags behind PS5 and Xbox Series X in raw power Limited launch lineup of next-gen exclusives Verdict: The Nintendo Switch 2 is a must-have for both new and returning fans. It refines the hybrid concept to near perfection, combining portability, performance, and a growing game library in one versatile package. Rating: 9/10

Unsurprisingly I really love the Switch 2. Everything feels premium about it. Only time will tell on joy con and whether drift comes back to haunt us so far so good. I did notice problems while the unit was docked with it running hot. I haven't noticed it for a while now. I used to pull the Switch off the dock then the fan would run and clear the heat out in a good 20-30 seconds. Clearly a problem that could be fixed in a firmware update. I think there's was an update around the LAN but I'm not sure about the details. Playing Switch 1 titles is enjoyable. It runs Zelda breath of the wild and tears aof the kingdom like a hot knife through butter. This system seems very capable especially in the right hands. My biggest pet peeve is the joycons wanting to go to mouse controls. You can easily attach the joycons to the holder to avoid this. Mario kart world is a fun title. I think they might've been able to charge the same amount for just the music. The game itself is kinda awkward. I think with the world focus they missed the mail and didn't think enough of the game. The world is ok. It's a bit empty and free roam is single player unless you include online. I enjoy the balance the game offers. I do miss doing 3 lap races instead of doing intermission tracks to travel to the new track. I think knock out is a good format but I wish knockout would do random tours where you would take a random route to your destination. For the other racing modes I wish intermissions were optional. I can't say I miss Mario kart 8 deluxe but it has the tried and true formula. I didn't like the additional tracks added on with a large number coming from Mario kart tour. Right now the biggest problem facing the Nintendo Switch 2 is the lack of games. Someone asked me what I recommend and I had nothing. Many titles I play are on Switch 1 and Switch 2 plays those games beautifully. But at this point in time it's almost just a premium Switch and the games run for it the way they should've run on Switch 1 to begin with. So I think I'll rate this 4/5 since it's kinda like an assignment that was turned in late. I appreciate some of the polish here. One last comment. I understand that the screen is technically not HDR because it doesn't meet the specifications for it. This is a technicality and I found it more upsetting on paper than in person.

    Amazing Nintendo product... as usual!

Nintendo again hits it out of the proverbial ballpark! The Switch 2 takes everything we loved about the Switch and kicks it up two levels. A lot of people say it's just an upgraded Switch... but in hand, it definitely feels like the next evolution in Nintendo consoles. It takes what they learned from the Switch and improve where it's needed, but keep the core experience unchanged. This is somewhat different from the usual Nintendo experience, but it maintains backwards compatibility with the thousands of Switch 1 games which is an excellent pro-customer move by Nintendo. Usually they try to sell a new system exclusive version of a franchise game. They still are with Mario Kart... but at least my old MK8, Smash Bros, Mario Odyssey, etc will all work on this system. In fact, many old games work BETTER than they ever have before. Some require a small upgrade fee, but many are just improved. Overall, this is a very affordable entry point into the world of mobile as well as console gaming. I keep mine with me wherever I go. Standing in line at the grocery store? Yup, playing Pokemon. Waiting for my wife to get off work? Playing Donkey Kong. It's a very impressive system. Don't let the degenerate Youtubers make you think otherwise. Most of them are just sour that Nintendo didn't give them free systems this time.

Nintendo Switch 2: A Brilliant Evolution

From the moment you pick it up, the system feels more premium and responsive. Performance is noticeably smoother, with faster load times and sharper visuals that elevate both new releases and returning favorites. Games run more consistently, even in handheld mode, without sacrificing the portability that made the original Switch so iconic. What truly stands out is how seamless the experience feels. Backward compatibility allows existing Switch games to shine with improved stability and clarity, making the upgrade feel instantly rewarding. The improved controllers are more comfortable for longer play sessions, and subtle UI enhancements make navigating the system faster and more intuitive. Most importantly, the Switch 2 preserves Nintendo’s core strength: fun. Whether you’re playing docked on a TV with friends or curled up on the couch in handheld mode, the console delivers the same sense of joy and accessibility that defines Nintendo at its best. The Switch 2 isn’t just a successor, it’s a confident step forward. For longtime fans and newcomers alike, it’s a console that feels thoughtfully designed, future-ready, and unmistakably Nintendo.

The Switch 2 is a fantastic upgrade with a sharper screen, smoother performance, and smart design improvements that make this handheld and docked play better than ever. Backward compatibility is excellent but haven’t tried the new features like GameChat yet, so don’t have a take on that. Battery life could be better, but overall it’s a good console that’s absolutely worth it for Nintendo fans.

Very awesome how games/titles from Switch moved to the Switch 2, and Switch 2 has supported all the Switch games we already had. The Nintendo Parental Controls app synced settings to the Switch 2. The new Joy Con release triggers are much better than the Switches small button, plus the magnetic attachment rather than sliding into the rails os really cool. Screen is much bigger, its without a doubt a step up from the Switch, but still has all of the awesome characteristics, just a little refined, smooth & crisp. Alot of thought must have gone into it, having the charging port for USB-C on the bottom for docking a d then also ontop so you can comfortable play handheld while charging. Nintendo's team must have listened to customer feedback because it does show.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a huge upgrade and easily Nintendo’s best console yet. It keeps the fun, flexible hybrid design everyone loves while delivering smoother performance, sharper graphics, and faster load times. Games look better, run more fluidly, and feel more immersive both handheld and docked. The larger, clearer screen, improved controls, stronger hardware, and expanded storage make everyday gameplay more enjoyable. It’s also backward compatible, so you can jump right into your existing game library—now with better performance. Add improved online features and portability, and it’s an all-around win.

I recently got the Nintendo Switch and it's exceeded all my expectations! The versatility of being able to play on my TV and then seamlessly take it on the go is absolutely game-changing. Whether I'm relaxing at home or traveling, my games come with me. The game library is fantastic - from classics like Mario and Zelda to indie gems, there's something for everyone. The Joy-Con controllers are cleverly designed and make multiplayer incredibly easy. I love that I can just hand one to a friend and instantly start playing together. The battery life is solid for portable play, and the screen is bright and vibrant. Setup was incredibly straightforward - I was playing within minutes of opening the box. The build quality feels premium and durable enough for daily use. What really stands out is how the Switch fits into my lifestyle. Quick gaming sessions during lunch breaks, epic adventures on weekend trips, or family game nights on the big screen - it handles everything beautifully. It's brought back the pure joy of gaming for me. If you're considering a Switch, don't hesitate. It's worth every penny and has become my go-to entertainment device. Highly recommended!

I’ve been using the Switch 2 for a little while now, and it’s a solid step up from the original. The screen is brighter and sharper, the graphics are smoother, and the battery life is better than I expected. Games load faster and everything just feels more responsive. I really like the new Joy Cons. They feel sturdier and I haven’t had any drift so far. The handheld mode is especially nice because the system feels lighter even though the screen is bigger. If there’s anything to improve, it’s the fan noise. It’s not loud, but you can hear it during longer sessions. I also wish the internal storage was larger out of the box. Overall, though, the Switch 2 is a great upgrade. If you play a lot or you skipped the OLED model, this one feels like a real difference.

Amazing Console for Kids & Families

We got the Switch 2 mainly for the kids, and honestly, they love it. It’s become their go-to console almost every day. The games look better, load faster, and everything just feels smoother compared to the original Switch. The new controllers are more comfortable for small hands, and it’s great that they can play both at home and on the go. Family game nights have been a lot more fun too—easy to jump in, lots of kid-friendly titles, and even adults enjoy playing along. Setup was simple, and the system feels solid and well built. Cons: The biggest downside is the battery life. In handheld mode, it doesn’t last as long as we hoped, especially with more demanding games. We usually have to keep a charger or power bank nearby. It’s not a deal-breaker, but it’s something to be aware of. Overall: Despite the battery not being great, the Switch 2 has been a huge hit in our house. The kids are happy, we’re happy, and it’s a great upgrade for families who enjoy gaming together.

Another amazing system from Nintendo! Their best yet! As for games, I have medium to low expectations for Donkey Kong Bananza but am THRILLED with how vast and amazing it is! The Zelda upgrades are incredible. The system is so much better with the bigger and more beautiful scream. And the controllers are a thousand times better with the magnetic connections. This is a must have game system!

The Next Evolution of Hybrid Gaming

    |
    |
    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Nintendo Switch 2 (released June 5, 2025, starting at $450) is not a radical reinvention, but a critical and commanding evolution of the hybrid console concept. After years of the original Switch stretching its capabilities, the Switch 2 arrives with a much-needed power boost, a gorgeous new screen, and quality-of-life improvements that make it a compelling purchase for newcomers and veterans alike. A Genuine Leap in Performance The biggest story here is the custom Nvidia Tegra T239 processor. Built on the modern Ampere architecture, this chip finally brings the Switch into the current generation of graphics. The results are immediate and transformative: in docked mode, the Switch 2 can push out up to 4K resolution at 60 frames per second on supporting displays, thanks to sophisticated AI upscaling technology. This means games look incredibly sharp on a big-screen TV, a monumental improvement over the original Switch's 1080p output. The upgrade isn't just about resolution; it's about fidelity. The new chip supports advanced graphics features like ray tracing, allowing for more realistic lighting and shadows, which is already apparent in launch titles like Mario Kart World. With 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM, developers now have the necessary memory headroom to create experiences that simply weren't possible before. Handheld Experience Refined The console’s commitment to portable play is stronger than ever. The Switch 2 features a 7.9-inch LCD display, a noticeable size increase over even the Switch OLED model. Crucially, it supports a native 1080p resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate in handheld mode, complete with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support. While the shift from OLED back to LCD might disappoint some, the quality of this 120Hz LCD panel is exceptional—it’s bright, responsive, and makes games feel buttery smooth. Nintendo also addressed one of the most common complaints: the flimsy Joy-Cons. The new Joy-Con 2 controllers are now magnetically attached, offering a far more secure connection to the console and eliminating the risk of accidental slips or "wobble." The internal storage has been quadrupled to a respectable 256GB, finally giving players adequate room before needing to invest in a microSD Express card (which supports up to 2TB). Connectivity and Ecosystem The new hardware is rounded out by long-requested system features. The inclusion of native Game Chat is a huge step forward for the online experience, simplifying the process of communicating with friends. Furthermore, the Nintendo Switch Online service gets a major value bump, with the new system providing exclusive access to a library of emulated GameCube titles. The console maintains full backwards compatibility, meaning your entire library of original Switch games carries over. This seamless transition ensures there’s no gap in content, making the upgrade painless. Verdict The Nintendo Switch 2 successfully delivers on the promise of a true next-generation hybrid. It provides the power necessary to compete with modern portable rivals while preserving Nintendo’s unique focus on accessible, joyful gaming. The combination of 4K docked output, a 120Hz handheld screen, and practical refinements like magnetic Joy-Cons and increased storage makes the $450 price tag feel completely justified. If you are looking for a powerful, versatile, and instantly fun gaming console, the Switch 2 is the best option on the market.
