Admittedly the Switch 2's release is a little underwhelming compared to the original Switch's. Hopefully in time the games will make this console a must-buy like Breath of the Wild did for the original Switch.

This review is for the console only since best buy did a good job on delivering the switch on time. I got it the day it was released. Right now my switch is unusable i honestly dont know what happened it just randomly turned off while i was playing it and when it turned back on i couldn't get the joycons to reconnect. No matter what i tried they wont coknect i tried everything. I ultimately factory reset it but still nothing. I dont know how to fix.

I give the item one star, because the Switch 2 with Mario Kart was not the item that was sent to me. I was sent the basic Switch 2 system, but was still charged the same price as the Mario Kart edition. I also had to spend extra for the Mario Kart game through the Nintendo store, due to the circumstances I was in I was unable to send the console back or wait even more days for one to come. The roadies had already sent part of my order to another address so I did not trust it after this experience.

The Evolution of Play: A Review of the Nintendo Switch 2 The original Nintendo Switch revolutionized gaming by truly putting the "home console" in our hands. Seven years later, the question on everyone's mind is: Can lightning strike twice? With the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo doesn't just aim for lightning—they've brought a whole storm, refining a winning formula into a next-generation powerhouse that honors its legacy while boldly leaping forward. First Impressions: A Sleek, Familiar, yet Premium Feel Unboxing the Switch 2 feels like meeting an old friend who just got back from the gym. The console itself sports a similar, iconic silhouette but now features a slimmer bezel around the screen, allowing for a full 8-inch OLED display that is breathtakingly vibrant. The new Joy-Cons attach with a more satisfying, solid click, addressing a minor but common concern from the first generation. The overall build quality feels more premium, signaling that this is a significant upgrade, not just a minor refresh. Performance: Where the Real Magic Happens This is the heart of the upgrade, and it does not disappoint. While Nintendo keeps official specs close to its chest, the leap in performance is immediately apparent. Visual Fidelity: Games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, when played via backward compatibility, run at a rock-solid 60 frames per second in full 1080p handheld mode. Docked, the console confidently outputs stunning 4K resolution using NVIDIA's DLSS technology. This means games are not only sharper but also richer, with more detailed textures, better lighting, and draw distances that make open worlds feel truly limitless. Load Times: Say goodbye to lengthy loading screens. Fast-traveling in massive games is nearly instantaneous, keeping you immersed in the experience. Gameplay: Refined and Expanded The new Joy-Cons feature improved analog sticks with Hall Effect sensors, virtually eliminating the dreaded "Joy-Con drift." Haptic feedback is more nuanced, allowing you to feel the difference between walking on grass, sand, or cobblestones. The console also introduces new, innovative gameplay features that developers are already leveraging, promising unique experiences we can't yet imagine. The Library: The Best of Both Worlds The Switch 2 launches with the ultimate advantage: an incredible library from day one. Full backward compatibility with both physical and digital Switch 1 games means your entire collection gets an instant, free upgrade. Playing Super Mario Odyssey or Animal Crossing: New Horizons with enhanced performance feels like rediscovering them all over again. Coupled with launch titles like a stunning new 3D Mario game and a teaser for the next Monster Hunter running flawlessly, the message is clear: the Switch 2 is the definitive place to play, both past and future. The Verdict: A Must-Own for Everyone The Nintendo Switch 2 is a masterclass in iterative design. It understands what made its predecessor a cultural phenomenon and focuses its upgrades precisely where they matter most: performance, display quality, and build refinement. It doesn't abandon the playful, accessible soul of the Switch; it elevates it. Final Score: 9.5/10 Pros: Massive generational leap in power and visual fidelity, beautiful new OLED screen, full backward compatibility, improved Joy-Cons, innovative new features. Cons: Battery life, while decent, can be shorter when pushing maximum performance in handheld mode. The premium feel comes with a slightly higher price point. Whether you're a lifelong Nintendo fan or someone who missed the first Switch, the Switch 2 is an essential purchase. It’s a confident, polished, and incredibly fun console that secures Nintendo's place at the forefront of creative and accessible gaming for years to come.

I recently got the Nintendo Switch and it's exceeded all my expectations! The versatility of being able to play on my TV and then seamlessly take it on the go is absolutely game-changing. Whether I'm relaxing at home or traveling, my games come with me. The game library is fantastic - from classics like Mario and Zelda to indie gems, there's something for everyone. The Joy-Con controllers are cleverly designed and make multiplayer incredibly easy. I love that I can just hand one to a friend and instantly start playing together. The battery life is solid for portable play, and the screen is bright and vibrant. Setup was incredibly straightforward - I was playing within minutes of opening the box. The build quality feels premium and durable enough for daily use. What really stands out is how the Switch fits into my lifestyle. Quick gaming sessions during lunch breaks, epic adventures on weekend trips, or family game nights on the big screen - it handles everything beautifully. It's brought back the pure joy of gaming for me. If you're considering a Switch, don't hesitate. It's worth every penny and has become my go-to entertainment device. Highly recommended!

    A Fun and Powerful Upgrade

I’ve been really enjoying the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s sleek, responsive, and truly brings the joy of handheld and docked gaming together beautifully. The performance is excellent. Games load swiftly, visuals are crisp, and the system handles multitasking and large titles effortlessly. Whether navigating menus or jumping into fast-paced gameplay, the experience feels smooth and polished. Storage capacity is decent out of the box, but pure digital gamers will want to add a micro-SD card sooner rather than later. Given the high console price, I’d prefer a bit more built-in flexibility, but I appreciate that expanding storage is straightforward when needed. Controllers feel solid and responsive so far. I’m keeping an eye on potential stick drift, but at this stage, everything is working great, and the ergonomics are comfortable for extended play sessions. Joy-Con fit is a mixed bag. Compared to the OLED model, the Joy-Con 2 feel noticeably larger and more rounded. That’s totally expected given the bigger 7.9-inch screen and chunkier chassis. For my hands, it’s a bit more to grip, but not uncomfortable, in fact, the size contributes to a more substantial, premium feel. It’s a fair trade-off. Extra breadth adds heft, but also makes the controls feel more solid and intentional. Mario Kart World is where my main frustrations lie. The game leans heavily on “intermission” tracks. Long, straight cross-country connections that feel more like filler than fun. They break the flow of actual racing, replacing the classic three-lap circuits that made the series iconic. Before a recent patch, “Random” votes in online mode reliably brought back traditional multi-lap races. Now, “Random” often selects these intermission tracks instead, making three-lap races rare unless you play via friend-only or custom lobbies. Community feedback has been loud: many players find three-lap tracks more engaging and better designed, while intermissions feel generic and repetitive. It seems Nintendo is prioritizing the open-world structure, even if it comes at the expense of player choice and the classic race experience.

Greatly improved from it's predecessor. The controllers are much better with the magnetic attachment although I'm unsure why the sticks aren't Hall effect given this thing is brand new. I do like the mouse style functionality that the joy cons can assume which is a neat addition but its a bit gimmicky and probably not comfortable to use long term. Nintendo added a second USB-C port on the top of the system so you can plug chargers or accessories in on the bottom or top of the device. The screen size is bigger and I prefer the dock on this one as well as the improved storage capacity although I wish 3rd party docks like my Mirabox 36W (Switch 1) dock were compatible so I could take a second one without having to unplug everything from the TV. Performance is much improved and 4K looks great for Zelda (if you buy the upgrade... ) but battery life is still not the best and it needs MicroSD express cards to expand the internal storage so your old SD cards aren't compatible. I think if they'd opted for a 2230 NVME instead, it would have been a better expansion solution than the cards but I get there's a lot to cram into a small space. Overall a solid upgrade for the switch but could benefit from some minor tweaks. I'd love a variant/2nd gen model with a 1tb NVME, Hall effect controllers and a larger battery.

Nintendo Switch 2 with the Mario Kart bundle is absolutely amazing. This console works great for gaming on the go or on the big screen. Graphics are sharp, gameplay is smooth, and the performance is a big step up. The controllers feel solid, battery life is strong, and it’s easy to use for players of all ages. Hard work clearly went into the design—it feels premium and reliable. The Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart bundle is perfect for families, friends, and anyone who loves amazing gaming. I would definitely buy the Nintendo Switch 2 again and highly recommend this Mario Kart bundle to anyone who wants an amazing, easy to use console that works flawlessly.

    Amazing Nintendo product... as usual!

Nintendo again hits it out of the proverbial ballpark! The Switch 2 takes everything we loved about the Switch and kicks it up two levels. A lot of people say it's just an upgraded Switch... but in hand, it definitely feels like the next evolution in Nintendo consoles. It takes what they learned from the Switch and improve where it's needed, but keep the core experience unchanged. This is somewhat different from the usual Nintendo experience, but it maintains backwards compatibility with the thousands of Switch 1 games which is an excellent pro-customer move by Nintendo. Usually they try to sell a new system exclusive version of a franchise game. They still are with Mario Kart... but at least my old MK8, Smash Bros, Mario Odyssey, etc will all work on this system. In fact, many old games work BETTER than they ever have before. Some require a small upgrade fee, but many are just improved. Overall, this is a very affordable entry point into the world of mobile as well as console gaming. I keep mine with me wherever I go. Standing in line at the grocery store? Yup, playing Pokemon. Waiting for my wife to get off work? Playing Donkey Kong. It's a very impressive system. Don't let the degenerate Youtubers make you think otherwise. Most of them are just sour that Nintendo didn't give them free systems this time.

I picked up the Switch 2 with the Mario Kart World bundle and it has been awesome from the start. The Switch 2 is noticeably faster than the original system. Menus load quicker, games start almost instantly, and everything feels smoother overall. The upgraded screen makes a big difference too. Colors look brighter, details are clearer, and it just feels more modern to use whether I’m playing handheld or docked. The new Joy-Cons feel sturdier and more comfortable in the hand. I haven’t had any drifting or connection issues. The whole system feels like a proper upgrade while still keeping everything people loved about the original. Mario Kart World included in the bundle is a great bonus. It plays perfectly on the new hardware with smooth performance and vibrant visuals. It’s one of those games that’s fun whether you’re playing alone or with friends, and having it included makes this bundle feel like a really good value. Setting up the console was quick and simple. Transferring data from my old Switch didn’t take long, and connecting to my TV was plug and play. Storage feels more generous than before and I like that I can still expand it with a microSD card if I need to. Overall, this bundle feels like the best way to jump into the Switch 2. You get the upgraded console plus a top tier game right out of the box. Whether you’re upgrading or buying a Switch for the first time, this is definitely the bundle to go with.

    Solid Upgrade From Switch 1

Alright, spent some good time with the Switch 2, and here's the lowdown: It still feels like a Switch, just a bit bigger and more solid. The 1080p, 120Hz screen is a clear upgrade, making games look sharper and smoother. Those new magnetic Joy-Cons are awesome – super satisfying to attach, and they feel much more secure. Performance-wise, it's definitely got more power. Games run smoother, and everything feels snappier. It's not a powerhouse like other consoles, but it's a huge step up for portable gaming. Should you upgrade? If you have the original Switch, yes, definitely. If you've got an OLED, it's still a really nice upgrade for the performance and new features, but maybe not a total must-have. Basically, it's everything good about the Switch, just... better.

Positives: Big and beautiful screen, almost Oled like for colors and contrast. Improved gtaphics and smoothness. Runs games much better and they look great. When playing multiplayer the controllers are much more comfortable and easier to use due to their size increase. Same familiar experience for the UI, if you know how to use a regular switch, you wont need to figure out hot to use this one. Extra usb C port, better more adjustable stand, and access to bigger games due to the performance increase. Plays switch cartridges. The build on hard drive space of 256GB is more than plenty to hold tons of games. Negatives: battery life is notably worse but, just means you need a battery pack or charger nearby for extended sessions. Hand held mode has terrible ergonomics. As an adult with smaller hands it hurts to use after a short time. Taking the controllers off and using the accessory that links them together is infinitely more comfortable. Game prices are ridiculous. You cannot use a standard mini SD card anymore. It Must be an SD Express which currently only comes in smaller sizes, its not even needed though because games are much much smaller and you can fit tons as mentioned. Final Thoughts: I sold my oled switch in advance knowing this was coming. I have yet to finish games like Zelda so I will benefit playing older games with the improvements in performance. Its a good buy if you can sell your previous switch for this just because its better in every way except battery life, which can be mitigated. If youve beaten all the previous switch games then im not sure this is worth it. Its very expense with only one to two launch titles. I did not get far in cyberpunk so I may get it. It just depends on your situation. I would not have any FOMO though because theres only a few games that are “new” some of which you may not even care to play or beat already.

The Switch 2 is a fantastic upgrade with a sharper screen, smoother performance, and smart design improvements that make this handheld and docked play better than ever. Backward compatibility is excellent but haven’t tried the new features like GameChat yet, so don’t have a take on that. Battery life could be better, but overall it’s a good console that’s absolutely worth it for Nintendo fans.
