The vital new switch we needed, but price is bad

Switch 2 was necessary. The original switch was just too old and outdated with its 2016 tech (based on Wii U hardware).....it is a breath of fresh air to have something that finally just runs far better looking games, can offer you the likes of FF7 Remake and Resident Evil Village that run natively on the hardware and will look amazing and play great. It's a bigger screen, better controllers, a refined experience, and with all the firmware updates we've had to date, pretty much all of the original Switch 1 library is fully compatible now (with very few exceptions left that anyone would care about). Even the beloved NieR: Automata finally is compatible with the latest firmware. That being said, this is by far the most boring new console from Nintendo of all time. There's not much at all that's significantly different from the experience you got on the previous switch. It feels more like Switch Pro than Switch 2. UI looks almost exactly the same, and works the same. And I'm beyond stunned that in 2025, the only two themes Nintendo still gives you are WHITE and BLACK......what is wrong with this company...... Overall, this system is really new and although switch 2's library has grown several pages worth on the eshop.....it's still a very new console and we've yet to see the best of what it can offer. One thing I thought I would hate, but I actually love is the new Micro SD Express cards. Even though they're temporarily rather expensive, they're not unaffordable and the speed is truly that huge gigantic leap in tech you want to see in a console. The speed is like never before on switch! Switch 1's regular micro sd cards (depending on the ones you bought) slowed down your experience greatly and made loading an absolutely chore. Micro SD Express have been a thrill to experience. Most everything runs and loads very fast. That makes a huge difference and truly makes this feel like a new console. Overall.......eh.....I think it's worth getting if you're a huge fan of switch, but the last criticism is the lack of OLED screen. Something tells me Nintendo will eventually make one, but the screen's quality took a step back from the previous switch OLED. But that price will turn off a lot of people. I expected $400 or more in this day and age with Biden inflation still a reality.....but $450 being the minimum price.....ugh.....bad look for Nintendo.

There’s been a lot of back and forth with people around the switch 2 and Nintendo. What I will say is that I love my switch 2. I love the size, the look, and the feel. What I would tell people is that it’s a great thing to have if you can buy one without putting yourself in financial stress. It’s worth it if you can throw away the money, but if it’s more than your regular budget, it might not be worth it at the time. But I do love mine and haven’t touched my switch 1 since purchase.

Great console, only bad thing is the battery life. But over all the preformance is great and the game selection is genuinely peak. Considering it’s the cheapest next gen console out rn I reccomend it!

Fun times! I like the screen is much larger, graphics easier to enjoy, and games are expanded for further enjoyment! Bought two so my teen can stop taking mine!

I’m completely blown away by the Nintendo Switch 2! Everything feels faster, smoother, and more immersive. The new screen is stunning, and the battery life is way better than I expected. It’s so easy to switch between handheld and docked play — it just works perfectly. I’ve been playing nonstop since I got it, and it’s easily my favorite console ever!

I tried so long to get my hands on this thing! The bots and scalpers held me back for too long. But after finally getting my hands on one, i can definitely say it is worth the wait and all the hype. The screen looks awesome, and the 4K 60fps and 120fps look amazing on TV mode. Already got a travel case and screen protector so im ready to take it with me everywhere lol plus all my older games run smooth as butter now. No more frame drops or lag :)

I’ve been a lifelong Nintendo fan, but the Switch 2 is on a completely different level. I finally got my hands on one, and honestly? It feels like a dream come true. The first thing that hit me was the performance boost. Seeing titles like The Legend of Zelda and Skyrim running with this kind of clarity and smoothness is a total game-changer. Everything feels snappy, the colors on the screen are incredibly vibrant, and the build quality feels premium and solid in my hands. I was looking for that "next-gen" spark, and this console absolutely nails it. Whether I’m playing in handheld mode on the couch or docked on the big screen, the experience is flawless. It’s rare to buy something and feel 100% satisfied with every penny spent, but I am beyond happy with this purchase. If you’re on the fence, don't be. This is the ultimate way to play. More than happy, I’m genuinely excited to dive back into my library every single day!

Honestly wasn’t expecting as much if a difference, but was really surprised. Even most of the older games look and feel so much better on here than the original switch. Plus, the gamechat feature makes playing and talking to family and friends so much easier. I love it!

Beautiful upgrade from the OG Switch! Absolutely love the bigger screen for handheld mode though it’s taken some getting used to. Graphics overall are crisp and solid, games run exceptionally well, a wonderful birthday gift to myself for sure! :-D

I know people love to hate this console but I absolutely love it. So far i have played all the way through Hogwarts and have been playing a lot of BOTW on it. Both game have been greatly improved. The load times alone make it worth it. Love the companion app on my phone. I look forward to what they do with that and other games. If you loved the original switch then you will love this one also. Definitely worrh the price. Don’t listen to the haters.

The Nintendo Switch 2 feels like the natural next step for Nintendo’s hybrid console, blending the charm of the original with some much-needed upgrades that make gaming smoother, sharper, and more comfortable. The bigger screen and faster processor make games look and run better, while the redesigned Joy-Con 2 controllers snap on magnetically, feel sturdier in the hand, and finally address some comfort issues from the first generation. Backwards compatibility means your old library still works—often with noticeable improvements—and new features like built-in GameChat and the clever Mouse Mode add fresh ways to play and connect. The Pro Controller 2 is another highlight, with better grips and refined buttons that make longer sessions easier. Docked play now delivers clearer visuals on a TV, and while handheld mode is a bit bulkier, it benefits from a larger and crisper display. The trade-offs are that it’s more expensive than before, still not using OLED tech, and has some concerns around repairability, but overall, the Switch 2 feels like a strong refinement rather than a revolution, a console that doubles down on what made the original so special while adding just enough power and polish to keep it competitive in 2025.

Love the switch 2! You can definetly feel a difference in performance from the original. Only complaint is the battery life, but that was expected on launch. As long as you keep it plugged in while playing, the battery should last a good long while.

    Nintendo switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 is a solid upgrade that improves on nearly every aspect of the original. It features a sharper 7.9” 1080p screen, 4K output when docked, smoother performance thanks to a new NVIDIA chip, and better battery life. The new magnetic Joy-Cons feel sturdier, and added features like GameShare and video chat bring it up to modern standards. While it’s pricier and leans on upgraded older games at launch, the Switch 2 is a powerful and versatile hybrid console

I own the original Switch V1, I never bought the V2 or the OLED model. I saw reviews online saying the upgrade wasn't worth it because it's the same thing just a bigger screen and other stuff. Let me tell you, it's a beautiful system. The bigger screen looks gorgeous (keep in mind I never owned the OLED version of the Switch). The games run faster and smoother, I like how the eshop is faster. The Joycons feel better (I prefer a third party grip for the switch shout-out satisfye) but definitely not comfortable for long sessions. I like the dock and the Internet goes way faster when you're downloading something while having the Ethernet cable connected to the dock. I have future proofed myself before the price for the switch 2 goes up and until exclusives for the switch 2 come out. Transferring my existing Nintendo account was easy and smooth but keep in mind if you have a lot of digital games, you may need to buy an express SD card. Do yourself a favor, research playthroughs, breakdowns, accessories and if this in with in your budget before you buy. I don't regret my purchase. The Best Buy experience was great by ordering online and picking it up in store. So kudos the the BB team.

Better than the switch 1 in form factor. I love how it feels easier to hold being lighter while also having a bigger screen. Works well, does what I expected it to.
