I enjoy the improved ergonomics, controller size and the systems ability to run games at higher, fast loading quality. My only con, the preinstalled screen protector came with a scratch. Very carefully, i had to remove it in order to install a new one.

Extremely fun and versatile console with 3 ways to play. Handheld mode, tabletop, and connected to the tv. The switch has more family oriented games than other consoles making it perfect for families with little ones getting into gaming, and even for adults with their more diverse lineup of games recently like cyberpunk 2077. This console appeals to all ages, and playing mario kart with your kids never gets old.

Easily one of the best new devices I have gotten in a very long time! Upgrades from the oled and this screen is not an oled but it looks just as good if not better! My hands hurt after playing it for a while so I recommend buying a pro controller.

It’s a great console overall the only downside is the battery life especially if playing Nintendo switch 2 games. You just have to keep a charger on you 10/10 console though

    Upgrade over the original Switch

Definite upgrade over the original Switch. Graphics & frame-rate on BOTW & TOTK are night and day over the original hardware. I found that the new joycons wiggle ever so slightly when docked to the Switch 2 - at $500 for a handheld I would expect a bit higher quality in the fit. Only other gripe about the system itself is that memory is only about 250 GB, which runs out fast. If you want to expand your memory, you have to use a new Micro SD Express card, which are more expensive than standard Micro SD cards and can be harder to find (especially if you want 500 GB)

Kids absolutely love it we bought 2 of them they are a big upgrade from the previous model. One of them however stopped taking a charge from either port after only 1 month of actual use, and we only used the factory charger. But nintendo replaced it with a brand new one even though we were past the return date.

A Smarter, Sharper Evolution — Not a Revolution

I’ve been using the Nintendo Switch 2 for just over a month, As someone who’s spent years with the original Switch, I came in hopeful but skeptical. Would it really be that different? Turns out, yes... but in subtle, smart ways that grow on you the more you play. First Impressions & Ergonomics Right out of the box, the Switch 2 feels more refined. It’s noticeably sturdier, a bit heavier, but surprisingly comfortable. The redesigned Joy-Cons magnetically snap in place with a satisfying click, and the improved grip and larger SL/SR buttons make a difference. I’ve been able to voice chat and even video call with friends mid-game The console’s larger 7.9-inch LCD screen looks fantastic. It’s not OLED, but it makes up for that with HDR10 support, 120Hz refresh rate, and Variable Refresh Rate. Games look sharper, brighter, and more fluid in handheld mode than ever before. There is some minor motion ghosting during fast action sequences, noticeable in racing game, but overall, it’s a much-needed upgrade. Performance & Display The biggest change, though, is under the hood. Nintendo’s partnership with NVIDIA for this new custom chipset is a game-changer. Handheld mode now hits 1080p and 120 fps, while docked mode can output 4K at 60 fps, sometimes with ray tracing and DLSS support. I played through parts of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom again just to experience how much smoother and crisper everything feels. Load times are faster, gameplay is smoother, and even older games get a facelift. Storage isn’t an issue anymore either. With 256GB internal storage and support for microSD Express up to 2TB, I haven’t even worried about deleting old games or juggling downloads like I used to. It plays nearly every Switch 1 game, which is great because I have a big library and didn't want to start from scratch. Connectivity & Features Connectivity on this thing is top-tier. It’s got Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, dual USB-C ports, and the dock now includes Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI 2.1 perfect for pairing with a modern TV. Game downloads, updates, and cloud syncing are quicker and smoother. The new features like GameShare and mouse-mode Joy-Cons are cool bonuses, though I’ve only scratched the surface with them. The GameChat system is surprisingly well-integrated, and while I never thought I’d video chat on a Nintendo console. it works, and it’s kind of charming. The Not-So-Great Stuff But no console is perfect, and the Switch 2 has its flaws. The biggest downside for me is battery life. It’s pretty underwhelming, around 3 to 4 hours on more demanding games, which is shorter than I expected, especially considering how much more power-efficient tech has become. If you’re planning to take it on long trips, you’ll definitely want a power bank handy. Then there’s the elephant in the room: Joy-Con drift may still be an issue. Nintendo didn’t go with Hall-effect sticks, meaning these still use traditional potentiometers. So yes, drift is still a possibility, and for some people that’s a dealbreaker. Also, while the screen looks great, it’s still LCD. If you’re coming from the OLED model, the black levels and contrast might feel like a step back. I personally didn’t mind it too much—the brightness and color sharpness mostly made up for it. Finally, the launch lineup felt a little thin. Mario Kart World was fun, but I’m looking forward to the meatier exclusives later this year. Nintendo seems to be spacing them out to keep players engaged month-by-month, which is smart but it also means a slow start if you're looking for brand-new games right now. Final Thoughts Overall, the Switch 2 doesn’t reinvent the wheel, but it refines nearly everything I loved about the original in meaningful ways. The performance leap is real. The sharper screen, stronger hardware, faster load times, and smoother gameplay add up to a console that feels like a mature, confident next step. Sure, I wish the battery lasted longer and that Joy-Con drift was a thing of the past. But these are minor frustrations in what’s otherwise a stellar handheld-console hybrid. Rating: 4 out of 5. Would I recommend it? Absolutely—especially if your original Switch is showing its age or if you’re ready to jump into Nintendo’s world for the first time. Just be ready to invest in a power bank and maybe a new pair of Joy-Cons down the line.
