Kids will be fine with those little things. There are a couple of small parts for the controller I can see it easy to loose. Easy set up to run on TV.

Great for Family and Friends

The wide variety of games has something for everyone. A notable perk is that you can download an official Nintendo app for Parental controls, which allows you to set restrictions based on game ratings or content and set time limits as well. You can review gaming summaries daily and adjust if necessary. This console is the 5-9 hour battery life edition, which I have not yet tested, since I mainly play on my TV in the living room, but I will update this post when I test out the battery life. So far I have no complaints. I purchased several controllers, a memory card*, vinyls, and digital versions of games. *note: Attempting to have a large digital library of games on your console will be futile without a memory card. (I was only able to download 3 games before I ran out of space on the console.)
