Get that game first, and only buy more joycons if you need to accommodate 4 players because it serves two players out the box.

They really improved on the Wii u formats with this one. My 4 year old can work it, my 7 year old loves it, and our family plays Mario kart most nights before bed.

We did put on a screen protector, but still! Very fun and easy to take on the road and enjoy it!
