First of all, yes, the Switch is made for audiences around the age of 7-11, and not for my age range, but I still feel I have a say in some of the pros and cons of this console. Mainly the cons, though. Firstly, the pros. The Switch is a portable console with decently fun games to go with it, and it is the only console (in my opinion) directly advertised towards young audiences. But, unfortunately, the cons outweigh the pros by quite a bit. The price of the Switch is around $280-$300, and for that price you'd expect something phenomenal, but you don't receive that. The Switch is terrible at connecting to the internet, and unless you connect it straight to your router, you will never have smooth gameplay. The Switch also has poor graphics for its price. When I watch people play games on my Switch (they're usually playing Fortnite), I notice that the textures almost never load in, which means that the game lags out to the point where it is unplayable. I gave this a try myself (Fortnite), and I noticed a lot more was wrong with the Switch than I thought. The FPS (Frames per Second) maxes out at 30, but the FPS is rarely 30. For the majority of the time, the FPS is 20-25, and very few games can be played smoothly with those horrible frames. For the price of this console being so high, the FPS should at least be maxed out at 60. On another note, the lag is extremely bad. The ping (the amount of time, in fractions of a second, it takes to send what you're doing to the server) is especially bad. The ping I got while playing Fortnite was around 60-100, and that means that it took about 1/10th of a second for anything I did to be sent to the servers, which doesn't seem like a long time, but when you're playing the game, it is. Another thing closely related to this is packet loss (what percentage of stuff doesn't get sent to the server), and it is even worse. The packet loss I received from playing Fortnite was around 2%-10% most of the time, but there were times where the packet loss reached 80%. Having even 1% packet loss affects your gaming experience greatly, and considering most players get 0% packet loss, it's also a bit unfair. Do I advise buying this console? No. What should you buy? A PS4 or an Xbox, especially if you want to have a smooth gaming experience rather than an unplayable one. Yes, internet strength is a very big contributor to lag on the Switch, but I receive 100+ megabits per second, so my Switch shouldn't lag as much as it does. Long story short, for the Switch's price, it is a bad console to purchase (in my opinion). Buy a different console, or save your money for a PC if you really want to game, because unless you're 7-11, I don't think this console will be a good pick for you.

I was on the fence about purchasing a Nintendo Switch. I am a long time Nintendo fan but I tuned out during the wildly popular 'Wii' days. I was skeptical of the Switch for the same reasons I had come to loathe the Wii and Wii-U. The word I use is 'gimmick', and while the Switch employs a different gimmick than its predecessors I still couldn't resist the urge to play the new Mario and Zelda titles. The games are great, as expected. My issue is that Nintendo marketed this as a 'console you can take with you' when I think what it really is is a 'handheld you COULD plug in to your TV'. From the moment you open the box the impression is clear that this is a handheld first, and a console second as the setup guide forces you to set the 'console' up in handheld mode. I tried to get around that and just set it up like a traditional console but once powered up Nintendo forces you to undock it and return to setup in tablet mode. I despise handheld anything and am very much a desktop PC person. The dock is a flimsy little plastic tray that feels as if it will break if I press on it. The controllers are tiny and frustrating for my hands and require being re-attached to the 'console' to charge, forcing me to remove it from the dock. The whole thing should have just been marketed as a handheld. It seems like Nintendo is backing out of the traditional console arena in favor of handhelds, which is fine. I just wish I had more insight into how this product is really just a handheld with a cheap plastic dock that you CAN use to hook up to your TV. I will never take advantage of playing the handheld anywhere as when I do my gaming, I am seated in front of my TV. Overall a terrible console, but likely a terrific handheld game device, Just not for me. My opinion is if you are buying the Switch with the intent to use it as a home console BEWARE because to me it is only a handheld with a flimsy plastic dock.

Can never go wrong with a Nintendo Switch! Great for single player or groups!

great gaming console for people who want to play the newest games. Had to order it because none were in stock at stores within 250 miles of me, but came in two days and everything works fine. If only I had known the new model was in stock...

My son was so happy to get this for his birthday. He loves the blue and red control colors.

The screen size is barely bigger then my lg stylo 2. Controllers for switch feel very small in my hand when detached. Also base feels so light n not built strong if i put console in it wrong. it can break the mount.
