The system itself is intriguing but I recommend waiting until there are more feature titles to purchase and the storage space is expanded.

The switch is nice. It's still holding up. The stick drift sucks.

The game bans people for no reason

In the middle of playing a game, I was kicked out due to inactivity. The thing is, I was playing the game the whole time and never stopped. Nintendo banned me for nearly an hour for nothing. This system is full of bugs and errors. I wish they would just focus on making the best kind of product for the end user instead of what they're doing

The WiiU was so much better! I miss being able to play on the console while the game broadcasted to the tv at the same time. Boo. It would have been nice to increase capacity and keep the same user-friendliness. A covered dock? WHY?????

It's a great portable console my only gripe is that the battery doesn't last as long as I'd like.

You wonder why sales are down?

Website said my item was in stock and available for curbside pickup. Half hour later says none are in stock? I would think that a computer store and the GEEK squad should be able to come up with a more accurate way to keep track of their inventory! No wonder so many stores are closing?

    Bad service

I’m very disappointed with the service that bestbuy has offered. I placed an order to Pickup my Nintendo switch Last week and when I placed the order it was in stock. Later that day when I went to pick it up it said it would be here IN A WEEK. It didn’t state anything about having to wait for my order to be shipped to the store & then picked up by me. Needless to say i’m very frustrated with the service and will not be shopping here again.

Games are full of bugs and errors

Games don't seem to be designed to be as fun as possible. They are full of bugs and often give an unfair advantage to people who bribe them with money. Just one example would be overpowered characters and items that need to be purchased after the game has already been purchased. They make people pay to play online only to ban them from online if they leave a game early. Even if they had already lost that game and were no longer able to participate. Nintendo punishes people for not sitting and waiting through other people playing. This could take several minutes.

Pretty Bad User Experience with Controllers

If you are interested in buying a Nintendo Switch I would like to share some bad news for you. The user experience is awful. In fact it is the worst console I've ever owned with the controllers and software. The controllers are just awful to use, handle, setup, and reconfigure from 1 to 2 player. I just wanted to warn you how awful it is, which is sad, because Nintendo should had done a better job with this. I loved my Wii U.

2 Failures in 3 years, played maybe 3 months total

I bought a Switch when Octopath Traveler came out, so around July 2018. I didn't play it much before Animal Crossing New Horizons came out, I estimate maybe two months total days of play time by then. And not 2 months of hours of play time, just free time on evenings after work and weekends. I played Animal Crossing Horizons every day for a couple weeks, and then suddenly one day after my system battery fully drained, that was it, it wouldn't work anymore. I left it sit on the charger for weeks, checking daily for a bit. But over the course of a month into 2 months, I would check occasionally and see if it would boot up. I gave up for months, and then suddenly one day, I thought I'd give it one last try, and it worked. I played the Link's Awakening re-release on it fine for a bit, finished it, and put the system down again. Just the past day, I decided to boot it up and get Bravely Default 2, which that plan got cut short by a new surprise failure. The system has been sitting on the charger for weeks, with the joycons attached. But the right joycon isn't working, seeming to have a dead battery. I have never had a console system fail so badly in such a short time, and I played my pre-Switch and PS4 systems to death. I've barely touched this thing in nearly 3 years, and it's been a piece of garbage.

    Terribly Overhyped

The Switch was an insane letdown. The WiFi connectivity is horrible, the left Joy-Con keeps de-syncing, and friend codes are back. You also have to apparently unlink your Nintendo account from an old console before using the e-shop on a new console, which isn't a help after you've already returned your old switch because of the problems mentioned above. My dock was also bent. Overall, this thing is not worth $300. In fact, I wouldn't even buy it for $50!

    Very Disappointed

Let me start out that getting this system was a bit of a SNAFU. I got the system from Best Buy, but ordered elsewhere for the games as a preorder over a month ago. I got the system 12:01am from Best Buy without any issues, but the largest online retailer (named after a South American rain forest) did not deliver the preordered games on-time and missed their guaranteed delivery on release day leaving me with a system and no games. I figured, fine I will explore the system and do other things while I wait an extra day. The problem is that there is nothing you can do with them system besides game. There are no streaming apps, no web browser, no apps, no demos in the eShop, nothing at all. I am very tempted to return the systems to Best Buy and pick up the Wii U version of the Zelda game, since I use my Wii U for streaming duties and gaming as well. The Switch is an expensive tool to play a game that I can play on a system that is already paid for without having to charge a few hundred to have slightly upgraded graphics. There is really no library besides 4-5 games (only two that I would actually play and both that I could get on another system (Zelda = Wii U and I am Setsuna = PS4). There is no virtual console. There is no trophy system. There is no social media. There are no stream apps. There are no apps of any kind. If you have a Wii U, just stick with that. There is no sense at this point if money is tight to incur the costs of this system. It is a very expensive handheld gaming system with a very small library, and very long window with a tiny trickle of new games through the year, and no other purpose besides playing maybe four possible games on a portable handheld that could be played on a PS4 or a Wii U.

The Switch is great, however, this is the older version, so I recommend going for the more improved OLED version, instead.

Great hardware entry by Nintendo but still lacks basic online features, compelling software, and no virtual console at launch.

    Cheap Plastic!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I dropped my Switch in Handheld mode ONE time just 3 FEET from my bed to the hardwood laminate floor and now the left Joycon L1 button sticks and the controllers do not lock in, meaning they slide right off the switch in handheld mode if you aren't careful...making Zelda near unplayable.. Add to the the loss of tracking issues everyone is experiencing and the fact that the screens are made of PLASTIC and there is all of ONE game worth playing on the system, I cannot give this product more than one star. If I could return it I would but unfortunately I just have to wait for a restock and replace this plastic junk. I will probably be doing that several times throughout the year, as I can see this cheap piece of plastic trash breaking again at the slightest bump. Heck, even brand new out the box the joycons wiggle a bit when attached.. WORST Nintendo product ever, I believe. Even worse than VirtuaBoy!
