The smaller design is a big appeal for those that got the Switch for more mobile play.

Sure, you can't dock it, the controllers aren't removable, and the screen is not as good, but this device still has a place in our household. It's smaller, lighter, and much less expensive. When gaming handheld, I prefer the Lite to the original.

The Switch Lite is exactly what it says it is: a smaller version of its big sibling, with the benefit of portability and the simplicity of being an all-in-one device. The drawbacks, of course, are that the Lite can't be docked, making it impossible to play on a full-sized TV screen, which basically negates the main value of the Switch as a versatile system that can make the whole family happy. The Lite is perfect for people who want a personal device to play games like Animal Crossing, or a great way to squeeze in some Minecraft on the go, but that's all it is. You have to decide for yourself whether that's worth $200. Personally, if I could have found a full-sized Switch, I would have preferred that, even though I already have one.

I got this for my cousin for christmas so we could play together. He loves his new switch so much! The switch light is perfect for portability, even more perfect if you only plan to play games handheld.

Got for my 7 year olds birthday. He loves it and loves being able to play games online with his uncle that lives far away.

I really like this even though the screen was smaller and you couldn’t connect it to the TV. My main issue was that the battery was much smaller and I found myself connected to the wall most of the day. I am a heavy gamer so this would more likely fit a child’s needs. My brother uses it all the time. I got it for him for his birthday. He loves playing Pokémon on it. Got the SD card for storage. I recommend a lite for a console for a beginner just getting into video games

It's lighter, cheaper and easier to find right now than the legacy Switch.
