Awesome value, BUT definitely a value phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I paid twice as much 3 years ago for an optimus S with less speed, smaller screen, less storage. And that was with a 2 year contract extension. This is a prepaid so no contract extension. I actually bought 2. One for my brother who is a flipfone type of guy but wanted to try a smartphone. He lives 1500miles away so answering questions would be done over the phone. I realized I would be doing a lot of "what's this icon mean" , "how do I' type questions and it would be easier to have one in my hand to walk him through it and at the sale price it would save me that in grief in a few hours. It sure did. Never having had a smartphone before my flipfone brother couldn't be happier. This is after all a much better value than what I got on contract 3 years ago. If you aren't gaming alot or surfing the web it is plenty fast enough. It's just big enough to make it easily usable (1/2 inch bigger than the S) but still compact. My one disappointment is I was using my S for a podcast/music player through bluetooth. All 3 of my LG smartphones (Optimus s, g2x and L9) will play bluetooth on airplane mode, this one doesn't. For those who may want a quick cheap backup for a tmo android phone this is excellent. Update simcard info on mytmobile and can be used on a contract line. Be aware that the sim is full size not mini. Battery life isn't great but the call quality is excellent, reception is better than average. Speaker phone volume is too low to be worth while for conversations but fine for music (Don't think it's mentioned anywhere on BB but it does have an FM radio). Another review panned this phone that he purchased for his parents. My guess is they would have been thrilled with it too not having been spoiled by the newest super phones. 3 or 4 years ago he would have been thrilled with it too.

A Great Starter Smartphone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Phone was great for the price as it is a great starter smartphone or for those that do not want to pay a lot of money in this cell phone market. The look and feel of the Phone is not cheap or at least does not feel that way. The Camera lighting was fair as it was a bit outdated as with the video quality, however it still took nice pictures as my advice is to make sure that the room is about 60%-70% lighted and use photo apps for the camera as it helped a lot. The front facing camera need a lot of light to function well as the photos come out very grainy, but still usable in high light. The home screen runs great though there was a bit of lag (though I think that is me just wanting things to go super fast!), however, it was not much to be concerned over. There is not much phone storage as I had to go out and get a micro sd card. The battery life gets drained fast the more you stay online with the phone, but day to day calls only affected the phone to a small degree as I got battery saving apps as I think all phone these days should have. App download is decent as I did not have to wait a long tone in order from them to download. Apps run great as I was surprised that I could play some of the latest games on this phone. My overall review is that it is a great simple smartphone for those getting into the smartphone or android market as it looks nice and runs fairly well as the most attractive thing about this phone is the price as you are buy a smartphone for under $100.00 and looks plus runs decent. If you own a 4g smartphone with a camera over 5mp, then this may be seen as a downgrade, however for any one looking to replace a outdated phone from around 2008-2010 then this is a great phone for the price.

Basic smartphone with a surprisingly low price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let's be perfectly clear, the main selling point of this model is the low price point. An Android phone running 4.X on sale for $50 new is amazing. It you compare it against the better mid or high range phones it's going to fare poorly. On its own merits and given realistic expectations, it does OK. The front facing camera isn't high resolution but having one at all in this class is a bonus and it's adequate for texting a selfie or conducting a video conference. Swype comes installed as the default keyboard, and others are available for download. Lots of versatility with the settings and preferences. The phone supports 3G but not 4G/LTE high speed data. The screen's viewing angles aren't great but it's crisp and clear. Less bloatware than some phones but still some things you'll never use. The camera doesn't have a flash but shutter response is fast and the photos are usable. It's a serviceable entry level phone - not the quickest or most powerful but fine for texting and updating Tumblr. A great way to get onto T-Mobile's non subsidized plans with plenty of functionality for casual users. Power users will want something more substantial (and significantly more expensive).

Might drive impatient people crazy..........
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product is pretty good, but pretty good at best. While it has all the bells and whistles such as an FM Radio and a front facing camera, the phone experience is slow and pokey on some apps and when you first turn it on. And also what good is a 5mp camera without a flash built in. I can see the front facing cam as one thing but the back camera is another story alltogether. Had issues with the product detecting the battery at first. I did not know if the phone was defective or not. But this issue has passed for the time being it detects it correctly and charged fully. Batttery life can be run down in 1 hour and 30 minutes if you play games. Phone not designed for this activity. It does have a FM Radio tuner built in which really surprises me at this price point but then again Alcatel is good for including this function in their phones. Even has RDS function to display the song and artist currently playing on the radio. Overall this phone is pretty good at $50 but don't get too confident because of the price because your patience is going to be really tried on this phone. One final suggestion. I would unpack the phone and then charge it overnight leaving the charger in. That way you get the maximum charge and less of a hassle the second time around.

Great value phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered the phone on sale for less than $60. Had a hard time finding any info related to the phone prior to ordering, but I was finally convinced by the screen size and front/back camera. The phone performs great for a single core phone, I'm able to switch apps swiftly, though I tend to clear my recently used apps. The camera is great, 5MP is nothing to write home about and yet gets the job done. Lack of flash is a disappointment but for the price I'm still impressed. So far I haven't been able to fill the phone's internal memory with the, rather hefty, stock applications included with the phone though is only a matter of time until Google releases a 1GB update for Chrome effectively taking half the memory of the phone. So far I have't tried any rooting methods, but a quick google search did yield some promising results. Overall a nice, clean looking phone with a stable version of Android.

Excellect budget smartphone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellect budget smartphone, Fast, a 5M back camera with no shutter lag. FM radio. Front camera. Less than 50 dollars. The pixel density is 240, which is high. So the screen is sharp. The 5M back camera is a fix-focus camera without flashlight, which has NO shutter lag. By pressing the volume button, you can take hundreds of pictures in seconds. The picture quality is OK. Overall, this camera is better than most android phone's camera I have tried, only worse than iphone 4S/5S:# Its CPU is MT6575 single core 1GHZ, which is the fastest single core cpu platform. I can hardly feel any lag when running apps, playing games, watching movies. This phone also has a FM radio, which can search all the FM radio channels in seconds. I am shocked by it is performance again:) This phone also has a front camera for video call or video chat. Its size and weight are perfect for a man's pocket, very easy to carry. Cases and covers are not needed. Its price is cheap but not cheap made. However, the screen viewing angle is limited #Good for privacy ) I can not imagine I only paid 50bucks for all of these features above:)

Great Value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a cheapo phone to replace my broken Nexus 4. Saw this one, figured it would be decent enough to tide me over until I got it fixed. Only $50, so why not. I guess it's because I went in with pretty low expectations, but this phone is pretty impressive, all things considered. Camera could have been better, the screen's viewing angles leave some to be desired, but for such a low price, beggars can't be choosers. It feels great in the hand, and is pretty quick. It does lag out from time to time, especially when typing. I resolved this by downloading the Google Keyboard from the Play Store, and I've got no complaints. Like this phone a lot.

good starter smartphone that's inexpensive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although I am pretty technically savvy, this was the only android smartphone I could afford. I consider this phone a temporary phone for those of us who have used Android before but for what ever reason can't afford another phone. I also recommend it for people who are upgrading to using smartphones for the first time as a starter phone. Only things that most advanced users may find annoying is the storage space, only about 1gb of internal space so you have to get an sd card up to 32gb. Then the camera isn't the best so if you don't mind that feature but most can just take pictures with their point and shoot camera and then transfer it to your phone. Another thing is it's only 3g not 4g which is only a big deal for those who like to download or stream the web in which you can just use wifi for this. But if you just surf the web or check emails 3g is good. I also was able to keep my carrier, SIMPLE mobile. You can get the sim card that comes with the phone activated if you want. So far I really like this phone except for things I listed above which is why I only gave 4 stars. Hope this was helpful.

Great phone!!:-)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only problem is the camera is fixed focus so no barcode scanning. But with pic2shop you can scan all the codes you want even with a fixed focus camera. Just have to keep it flat and have a steady hand. The rest is great. Not slow at all. Even my old iphone 3gs played netflix no problem. No shaking. I have 115 apps and no slow down. And still plenty of space on the phone. Only half used. Plus you can move some pf the apps to the sd card so its pretty good. I got a 32gb micro sd card at costco for 27 dollars. The battery is a little short but all smart phones are. None last the whole day. You can always extend that with morphone juice pack. It's no iphone. But not bad for 50 bucks. Good for basic web and calls. And the reception is greatly improved. I finally get 3g art my costco. My iphone 3gs was only giving me 2g at the food court. And 0g the rest of the costco building. Huge improvement.

Best deal I ever found on a Smartphone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's great for someone who hasn't used a smartphone before. It has all the features I want. The battery runs low a little quickly but that's how it is with most smartphones. With the front facing camera I have to change the settings so I could see my face, but the back camera is amazing and so is the video quality. Overall, this is a great phone to have.

Great price, perfect for pre-teens
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this phone for my children. I chose the T-mobile prepaid plan for $100.00 a year, which would break down to about $8.33 monthly. My children now have a cell phone that they can use for emergencies or call to get a ride, and a smart phone that they can use when there is wifi, which is at most places we visit. I couldn't see spending $25 - $80 a month for cell phone service for a kid. I have been pleased with the phone. I have an iPod touch 4 and this phone is faster than my 2 year old iPod. It has all the bells and whistles of a smart phone. My children enjoy playing their games and apps on it. The calls sound clear on it. I don't have cell service in my house, however, I can still use the phone through wifi. Unfortunately, it still uses the prepaid minutes while you are using wifi calling. You have to be careful not to touch the glass while talking. If you tap it twice near the bottom (like your chin hitting it), it will disconnect the call. The colors and clarity are not as good as my iPod but usable. I really didn't notice the difference until I compared them side by side. The camera is OK. You need to have good lighting, and hold it very still to get clear pictures. The phone needs to be charged every night. The phone also gets very hot when playing a lot of games and apps. Overall I am very pleased with the phone and the service. I paid $49.99 for the phone, $9.00 for the protection plan, and $100.00 for a year of service with 1000 minutes or text for a total of $158.99. That is what I would expect to pay for 2 or 3 months on a different plan. I think this is a great economical alternative for pre-teens and teens. Also, if my children misplace it, I don't mind spending another $49.99 to replace it.

Entry level phone decent value
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Broke my Galaxy so got this Basic entry level phone gives you decent value for the money. Not as refined as phones from larger manufacturers but still a decent value should be considered if price is a major factor. if your not in a hurry this phone works fine the only issues are its a bit slow and screen isnt as responsive as my Galaxy but it was 55 bucks on sale so cant complain really it works and does 80% of what my galaxy did so i can deal with it for awhile.

Great Inexpensive Android Phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Evolve is a great phone at its very low price, with 80% of the features and power of an expensive phone for 20% of the cost. It is perfect for someone needing just calls and text. The small memory and small battery make it the WRONG phone for heavy gamers or people who download dozens of apps. Add a memory card on day one and select the card as the default storage. The camera is okay in bright sunlight but lacks a flash for indoor photos.

O.K. phone for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The phone works o.k. for someone with minimal use. It makes a good replacement phone for T-mobile. Front facing and camera takes low quality pictures. I'm logging onto my Best Buy account trying to find a digital reciept. All I can find is a reference on my account to this phone to submit a review for Best Buy. But there's no reference to an order #/digital receipt so I can make a warranty claim. I bought this phone for 2013 Christmas for my son. August 2014, 8 months later, the battery won't hold a charge. I need a receipt to make a warranty claim. I maybe would refer this phone to a friend if the price was right and need a replacement phone for the time being.

great vacation phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed a phone for my family who came in to town from Caribbean. They loved it, tons of features, battery life a little low, but if you keep background programs to a minimum, should be reasonable amount of battery… and it's GSM, so T-mobile was kind enough to grant me the unlock code so they could take it back with them when they returned and used their own local SIM card.
