Solid no-frills smartphone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For anyone who just wants a basic smartphone at a budget price, the ZTE Zinger is a good choice. Not blazing fast by any means but it never lags from my experience. Screen quality is good for the price. Call quality is surprisingly strong. Biggest downsides are weak battery life and the phone itself feels slippery in my hand, but a $5 case fixes that quickly. All in all, a pretty great smartphone for a first-time buyer or for backup purposes.

Very frustrating activation process- Bad support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I placed an online order and chose a plan. So I go into the store and the reps are very helpful. However it seemed like a nightmare to transfer my number from Tracfone to T Mobile. I was lead to believe that the activation process for my new phone was instantaneous and I would leave the store with a working phone. My phone was not activated until after midnight the next day. I tried to go on T Mobiles Facebook page and every reply I gave them I had to wait a half hour for each reply I made to them on their "T Force" Social Media service. It was getting late and I had to go to bed. I did not have time for their grossly delayed replies. Finally when I woke up this morning, the phone was activated and I just had to pay for my service to get started. To make matters worse, T Mobile customer support is closed late at night so I could not get much of anything accomplished. The local store gets a 5 stars for going out of their way to figure out what was wrong but the initial support experience at T Mobile only gets 3 stars for making me wait forever to figure out what was going on. I switched to this carrier because I needed unlimited minutes and texts and their offer and reliable service was a done deal. I will just keep in mind that perhaps I should call on the phone during hours and speak to a live person rather then waiting on Facebook. You may have a better support experience if you are getting a new phone number for activation, otherwise be prepared for frustration if you port in your number. I forgave T Mobile and I've moved on.

Great, Except for no useful SD Card functionality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.( If you can easily afford something better that has reasonable accessibility to the SD Card I would recommend you take that other option.) Explanation follows: I purchased the ZTE Zinger because of the low price and nice features. I like the features but it has little memory which fills up quickly when one uses apps on the phone. Trying to move apps to the SD Card or have them save by default to the SD Card is not possible. (All my efforts to effectively utilize the SD Card, which have been extensive, have failed) It is not currently possible to root the phone in order to gain reasonable access to the SD Card for effective use! I like the phone but advise that one not count on SD Card accessibility unless you think you will enjoy the hassle of risking manually transferring data via computer connection from your phone to the SD Card! I think one will be happier with the phone if they only use essential apps considered a must have in order to conserve space. Good Luck.

Great Little Phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone met all of my needs. It's not a $200 powerhouse but it fulfills all of your everyday needs for the average user. Overall I was very pleased with this phone. My only complaint would be the keyboard accuracy when typing, it can be a little over sensitive at times

Surprising
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like many other families, we've done away with the house phone. So, while my wonderful LG G2 sits in a bag of rice and I hope for it's recovery, I needed another phone. I grabbed this one for $20. It's better than I would have expected for the price. It has all the basic Android features. I fired it up, activated it, imported my Google contacts and we're in business again. If the LG comes back to life, I'll still keep this one around as my beach and river phone. I'm glad I found this one.

Good cheap pre-paid Android phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Zinger is by no means the best Android phone on the market. It's no Galaxy S5 slayer. Doesn't lift a candle to any remotely recent iPhone. What it is is a solid low cost Android device that brings decent build quality, stability and performance to the low end of the prepaid market. It wasn't so long ago that low cost prepaid Android phones were universally horrifying. Slow CPU's, horrible, unresponsive touch screens, ancient Android OS versions, rampant instability and such a small memory that the phone was practically unusable. ZTE addressed many of these concerns. The dual 1.2ghz CPU (a Snapdragon 200# is reasonably zippy, Android 4.4.2 Kit Kat is preloaded, and there's about 1.25GB free out of the box, so there's actually room to load some apps and take some pics before the onboard storage is tapped out. Stability is good. I've been using it for about two weeks and have yet to reboot it. The plastic build is unabashedly cheap and plain but feels solid in the hand. If I were told the display is gorilla glass I'd believe it. Obvious corners were cut to achieve the low outright price. The 3.5" display is nothing to write home about. The 2 MP camera does little more than fulfill the Google requirement that a camera ,exist in the phone. There's no LED flash and no front camera. No LTE. But it retails so cheap these omissions can be overlooked, especially with how well the basic functionality works. Go in with reasonable expectations and you'll be #very# pleasantly surprised. This would also be a good first phone for kids, or as a beer money-making #i.e. Perk, Swagbucks# device.

Great backup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this phone as a back up phone for when i go out and worry i will break or ruin my phone. Small frame is great and convenient. Fast and dependable. Note this is not an LTE phone it works off of HSPA+ network.

Good Temporary phone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I fell this phone is great if it is used once in a while but is too small for daily use. If the screen is bigger then it is a great daily phone.

Cheap but touchscreen is hard to use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Keyboard buttons are small and touch response is not great, but it's a $35 phone so don't expect iPhone quality here.
