Customers are saying
Customers are satisfied with the ease of use, WiFi connectivity, recording flexibility, and picture quality of the DUAL LITE OTA DVR with WiFi. Many appreciate the simple setup and the commercial skip feature, but some users experienced issues with buffering, occasional heat generation, and reception problems. The need for an external hard drive for storage is also a recurring theme. While the interface and program guide are generally well-received, performance inconsistencies were reported by a few users.

Wi-Fi has failed on two units so far
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchase this at Mission Viejo Best Buy on the first day it was available in 2 months wifi failed. tech support verified that the Wi-Fi board had failed and sent a replacement. The replacement is starting to have intermittent Wi-Fi problems. Submitted a trouble ticket and the tech suggested that I just use hard wire instead of Wi-Fi. If I wanted hardwire I would purchase hardwired unit only. Absolutely no support from this Canadian company. I do not recommend this unit I also have the original Tablo 2 tuner which is Flawless and Rock Solid and sits next to this one in the same cabinet and is running fine on Wi-Fi. This company is very difficult to deal with.

A must have for OTA antenna! Great with Roku!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you have an OTA antenna and you already have a Roku this is a no brainer. Buy it. It allows you to pause, rewind, FF, and record the OTA antenna content and provide a digital guide. If you already stream you do not have the change the TV inputs or remotes to use it. My family had mixed opinions about the antenna until I bought this. My only request now would be more tuners! I already recommended to my friend.

Wif-fi connection does not work
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought the Tablo dual as a remote OTA antenna solution, so I could locate the antenna where it would pick up the most stations. Was not interested in the DVR part. I wanted the Tablo to work, and spent some time on it. However I could not get it to send its signal over wi-fi correctly. The Tablo showed up on my Roku, and I could watch TV content, but it would buffer every 10-15 seconds. When the Tablo was connected to the router via ethernet cable there was no buffering, but with wi-fi it happened every time. The transmit speed was set to only 3 Mb/s. A laptop in the same location as the Tablo could get 15 Mb/s to the router, but the 3 Mb/s connection from Tablo to router would always buffer. I concluded the wi-fi feature of the Tablo does not work. Other users report good results, but it did not work in my setup. 5 stars to Best Buy for their return policy.

Too Slow
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not that happy with this Tablo. It takes to long to load the guide and it's too slow changing channels. I bought this so I could watch remotely but it buffers and is useless in that capacity. The only thing I use it for is recordings. I put in a splitter and watch live through the cable input. I should have spent the money on the Amazon Recast.

Bad for you
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This DVR is not good for your well being. It will make you become a couch potato. You will become fat. Your back will start aching because you are not getting enough exercise. You should be out riding your bike. But no. The thing works to flawlessly and is by far the best way to find programs to record and watch shows you never thought you would watch before. You will look into your recordings list and see 8 hours of shows to watch but you're concerned now because you don't know how you will fit them into your day. But you bought this thing and you want to get your money's worth so you go out and buy Ben and Jerry's and sit on your couch all day and watch every show you recorded because that's what you paid a measly $99 for. And your stress will rise because you're worried that you're paying $15 a month for Netflix but you're not finding any time to watch it. Don't buy this unless you want to ruin your life!!

Does not work as advertised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had trouble hooking up the unit. Information never mentioned that you needed a streaming devise for the unit to work. Had to buy a external hard drive and fortunately Best Buy had a good buy on one. Had to buy a streaming devise. I really hate the way the unit works. Antenna plugs into the back of the Tablo, but then the Tablo broadcasts a signal to your router which in turn broadcasts to your stream devise and into your TV. VERY slow process. It seems like I am always "waiting" for it to work. Customer service is only open week days 9-5. Tuner doesn't work as well as TV tuner. I don't know why there isn't a direct connection to the TV via an HDMI cable.

Glitchy at every step
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am extremely tech savvy and extensively researched OTA recording options before purchasing the Tablo Dual Lite. I have spent upwards of 15 hours trying to get it set up and operational. Out of the box, the registration said that the free 30-day trial had expired... six days before we purchased it. Now it says we have a subscription but it isn't associated with our account. The recordings cannot be viewed from the cloud, commercial skipping doesn't work at all, and the attached approved USB hard drive wouldn't format. Turns out that Chrome, which I do not use, was the only way to accomplish this. Tech support does not respond so you're on your own. It shouldn't be this hard to set up one simple device. I really want to love it but so far it's been a giant pain in the patootie.

2nd hand
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So this has always felt like 2nd hand equipment in comparison to Dish, Direct TV and Tivo equipment but cutting the cord and being able to connect numerous TV's without tons of wiring and splitting signals made it worth it. Now all of the sudden its buffering 35 seconds for every 5 seconds of play. Recorded or Live. Best guess they have given me is they stopped supporting LG TV app. I got 5 LG tv's from BB - I'm under warranty but that's their work around,,, they don't support apps and the tablo equipment is useless.

Still not as nice as tivo
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive been a tivo user for years and have tried to break away from the 15 dollar monthly fees. This is one of many different cord cutting options I tried. TiVo is still far more refined than anything ive tried including this box. Even when wired through gigbit ethernet network and super fast internet, its so slow. Changing channels takes forever and the artwork for the interface loads in so slowly. TiVo is still far more refined and fast. I will return this box and upgrade to the tivo bolt ota from my roamio and at the 7 dollar monthly fee.

DON'T EXPECT SUPPORT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a fine device as long as you don't need support. It is a Canadian company and their support hours are ONLY MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY from 9:30 am to 5:30 PM EASTERN STANDARD TIME. So if you have a "normal" job they will never be open. In addition, if you are in line to ask a question at exactly 5:31 they cut you off and say call back on the next business day! WOW. So in my case the first one died and it took me days to get a in touch with their "Guru's". Then, the guru just said to take it back otherwise it would be a week to get a new device from them. Finally, they took my money for the expanded channel listing service but never delivered--and I haven't still been able to get someone on the phone. And yes, at exactly 4:31 CST on a Friday they cut me off and so it goes.

Good device as long as you pay subscription
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The device works great as long as you pay subscription. After 14 days you have to pay $5 per month or $50 per year or your device would be crippled. No TV guide, no scheduled recordings beyond 2 days, no skipping duplicates. The device it is way more expensive that competition and in order to get benefits of what you paid you need to cough up way more money. For $5 per month you can add local channels to your sling TV subscription and forget about the hassle of buying an antenna, portable HDD, connecting all of them etc. Now I have a device that is factory crippled, and I can not return it since return period has ended... Unless the company cancels the required subscription I would look elsewhere.

Unable to setup
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would consider myself a "tech" guy. Never in my life had I had this difficult of a time in setting up a device, never. The concept of this device is amazing. I tried 3 different hard drives and then gave up. Two of the hard drives were brand new. Also, could not get it to record to the cloud. Once you consider the price of a hard drive, spend the extra 100 and get a Tivo. Much less frustrating.

Problems Right out of the Box
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Numerous problems right out of the box. Connected it to my antenna which I've been using for a long time. The Tablo did not pick up any channels despite a number of scans. Hard reset the device several times and tried it with different cables to no avail. No problems at all when connected directly into a TV. Customer service is absent. Would not buy.

An exercise in frustration
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nothing but trouble from day one and many hours with customer service over the last three months was a waste of time. We have the best FIOS offered and the Tablo is in direct sight of the router but it still disconnects constantly. Freezing during recorded playback the norm. Tablo tech support always asked to connect it ethernet instead of wifi but if it will not work through wifi as advertised I don't want it.

Wi-Fi has failed Immediately on two units
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very poor wifi module. The first one lasted about 8 hours. The second under an hour. Their Tech support verified that the Wi-Fi module had failed on both. Too much time running back and forth to Best Buy and dealing with the long wait times on their support line. Very poor product. Appears that they do not test these as well as they should before being sent out to market. Do not recommend this product.

Does not work as advertised.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought one of the first ones available in the Dallas-FT.Worth area. The unit will not record to either their "cloud" drive or a to a local hard drive. Tablo engineers say they are working on a fix.
