Customers are saying
Customers are satisfied with the ease of use, WiFi connectivity, recording flexibility, and picture quality of the DUAL LITE OTA DVR with WiFi. Many appreciate the simple setup and the commercial skip feature, but some users experienced issues with buffering, occasional heat generation, and reception problems. The need for an external hard drive for storage is also a recurring theme. While the interface and program guide are generally well-received, performance inconsistencies were reported by a few users.

Setup was easy. Tablo working great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I opened the box and followed the installation instructions and the on screen prompts. I attached a 1TB Western Digital My Passport drive from Best Buy for my DVR recordings. A firmware update was a part of the installation process. It then moved into downloading the channel guide. The installation process was quick and easy without issues. Pros -Easy setup -Great Picture -Roku App preforms wells -Android TV app works better -Apple TV app works nicely but is more limited than Roku or Android TV -Ease of use -The menu system is good but has a few weaknesses -It is easy to setup programs to be recorded and to delete unwanted programs. -Recording playback, fast forward and rewind work well. -Guide data is very good with good descriptions and images -Wireless streaming is very good in the parts of the house with a strong wifi connection. Cons/Needed improvements -Channels can be slow loading, especially with a week wifi signal. -Inconsistent guide/menu between Apple TV, IPad, Roku and Android TV -The guide is very good, but can be improved upon. It would be very helpful to have a drop down banner showing what is playing now while still watching and listening to the current program with ability to select another channel. Overall, I am very pleased with performance of the Tablo Dual Lite OTA DVR. It is actually better than expected. I would give the Tablo FIVE STARS if the guide was better and more consistent between streaming platforms. I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Works well for what I need.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tablo was easy to set-up. Most of my favorite shows are on ota tv. I added a 1 TB hard drive. Since purchasing I have recorded numerous shows. I haven't been able to watch a lot of them but the ones I've watch recorded well. I can rewind when I want to look at something again. I have recorded some seasons of old show I like so I can binge watch them when I get time. I like that with the Tablo app on my Roku TV's and my Tablo set-up I can watch recorded shows from any room in the house. I may have needed a four tuner because so many of my favorite shows will overlap during the fall. We'll see.

Excellent way to watch and record local channels
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, it is awesome! I linked it via WiFi with my ROKU and downloaded the Tablo Channel. I installed an antenna in my attic and connected it to the Tablo directly using my existing cable TV wiring already installed in the house. The TV Quality picture is excellent. I am using the Tablo TV Guide which does cost $4.99 after the trial but it is well worth it. It does not come with a hard drive to record, so I used an external hard drive that I already had on hand. The guide also comes with commercial skip and you can select that and it will skip the commercials on most shows...sometimes it doesn't work and I just fast forward.

Tablo is great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy set up. Sets up the channels like watching cable. Connected the external hard drive to record our shows. Added google tv to the second tv and downloaded the Tablo app. We now have Tablo on both TVs and works great. Tablo is a great investment for those wanting to drop cable!!

Works get for what I needed!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Tablo OTA DVR has worked great for me. I have Roku's with the Tablo app and everything is the same on each tv. My antenna work well, so my pictures are very clear. I've watched local channels most of the time anyway. I don't have to have a device connected to each tv. This helps keep the area around my tv neat. I wish I would have tried Tablo sooner. I have mine in a small home office.

Tablo Dual Lite - Great OTA DVR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little device was the perfect solution for my OTA DVR needs. I have another device that was not consistent and needed to be reset frequently. That device also has to be connected to one TV. I really like the size of the Tablo and how I can access my recordings from other Smart TVs in the house through the app. I have it hooked up to a 2TB hard drive and control primarily through my Roku TV. The on screen guide is easy to navigate and select movies or TV seasons to record.

Money Saver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Went to outside antenna, but wanted DVR capability. This product solved this problem. Quality of recorded shows is excellent, I added WD Passport drive (1 tb) . Directv bill was $90. Per month. Cost of outside antenna $200 , Tablo with drive $170. I have had this set up for 2 months, break even in 4 months. I also able to set up on my second tv. I rated at 4 stars because the load time of tv schedule is a little slow, but once loaded , it works good.

Q: QuestionCan I record off-air programs with this using my own wireless network and tv antenna and NO subscription fees? Can I manually record a daily or weekly program that way, or just one at a time? Or not at all?
Asked by Rsrchr.
- A:Answer Yes you can record off the air programs via a tv antenna connection. There is a guide service that has a nominal fee that provides a tv guide for all the over the air channels in your area. You can use the guide to set up future recordings of programs. You can set these up as individual recordings or you can set up a series recording that will record either all of the shows in the series or only the new shows in the series at your option. Note that the Dual unit allows you to record two shows at the same time. If you do not want to subscribe to the guide service you can set up recordings by date, time, and channel. Newer "Smart TV's" provide apps that make using the unit very easy. I would recommend connecting the unit directly to you home router via an ethernet cable rather than WiFi. This helps prevent any possible buffering due to WiFi over the air congestion.

Q: QuestionHow do you choose channels and set it to record? Do you need a roku or does it come with a remote (I don't see one on the site)? I'm assuming you can stream Netflix and other streaming channels, but how do you do that?
Asked by Reza.
- A:Answer This device provides a means to record and stream over-the-air TV channels. It can be accessed from a web browser, smartphone apps, or apps available for Roku or other similar devices. Once you access it, it provides a guide with time-based and program-based listings so that you can either stream live TV or set up to record programs. The guide includes all programs that are available based on your over-the-air channels for the next two weeks. By selecting a particular program, you can select to record one episode or all episodes in the series as they are broadcast. To my knowledge, this device cannot be used to stream Netflix and other streaming content providers. Instead, it gives you the capability to record and stream over-the-air TV channels to the same devices you use to watch these other services (Roku, smartphone, PC, etc.). For example, I use a Roku to stream Netflix, DirectTV Now, and Tablo to stream content to my old analog TVs.

Q: QuestionCan I MANUALLY record programs without a subscription/the guide (if I know what time a program is supposed to be on), e.g. is there an option to say something like, I want to record every Wednesday at 8PM channel 23 or whatever?
Asked by Rsrchr.
- A:Answer It works well like this. Only thing I don't like is you get a nag screen warning you your Cloud DVR has expired. It lasts for about 10 seconds or until you play something.. This is suppose to go away after 30 days after your free subscription expires. Let's hope.

Q: QuestionHow much does it cost for subscription? While recording 2 programs can you e watch a 3rd?
Asked by cb.
- A:Answer Currently it is around $50 a year. If you are relying on the Tablo as your only source of OTA programs, then you wouldn't be able to watch a 3rd program if you are simultaneously recording two other channels. However, if you have your system set up as I do, where my TV has a tuner that can receive OTA signals as well, you can watch one channel on your TV at the same time the Tablo is recording two different channels. Hopefully, that's not too confusing.

Q: QuestionDoes this have internal recording capabilities? Will it record weekly like cable with a one time record selection? Is it easy to schedule recordings?
Asked by Cheapo.
- A:Answer No internal recording capabilities, you add a USB external hard drive for storage. The recordings are easy to schedule. The recording schedule will last as long as your subscription to their guide lasts. There is a lifetime option that for me was barely more than one month's cable bill, so I bought that.

Q: QuestionDoes this come with internal storage or do I need to have an external storage device connected to it?
Asked by Mike.
- A:Answer No, Internal storage is not included... It accepts a USB 2.0 input. Personally, I just grabbed a 64GB flash drive I had sitting on my desk and plugged it in. Reformatted it with the Roku app and all was well! The nice thing about this is you are not paying for storage that you don't need / want. If you don't have a need for 8TB of DVR storage, you don't need to plug it in. I actually have a Network Storage device and have installed a different app on my laptop which lets me extract DVR recordings and move them over to my NAS for permanent storage thus allowing me to just use that 64GB flash drive. Good luck.

Q: QuestionDoes it work ok with cable tv?
Asked by Michael.
- A:Answer No. This is strictly for over the air antennas. It also requires an external hard drive to use as a DVR.

Q: QuestionI know fast internet is required on this unit for whole home OTA or remote viewing. But, I'm hoping that my slow DSL (1.5Mbs) will work well enough to just download and update the channel guide and wifi viewing thru roku. Anyone able to confirm this?
Asked by mp5802.
- A:Answer The Tablo should work fine within your home, as long as you have a good strong signal from your antenna. The channel guide would likely download successfully at the speed you have. The Roku is receiving the video from the Tablo thru your wireless router and is not dependent on your internet provider speed, but the speed of your router. The Tablo is receiving video from your antenna.
