I love love love Tamron lenses and have 4 of them, but this 18-400mm is my least favorite. Before purchasing I did research on the lens and found others had commented on the 400mm picture quality not being as good as it could be. I concur. I am a little disappointed that photos taken at the 400mm mark are a little grainy. Otherwise I love the lens and get great results at all the other focal lengths.

My new travel lens

The following week I took the lens to the zoo to test it. I was very pleased with the quality at all focal lengths. It will be my go-to travel lens for the foreseeable future. For the money, it was a good purchase.

This lens allows a photographer to have a wide ranger of different types of photography. One big plus with this lens is that you do not have to continuously switch lenses.
