Was pretty good at shooting a high quality low light picture, but lacks some key details that the Sony GM1 comparison thrives in. Autofocus is not very fast if your doing anything at a fair amount of speed when compared to its GM1 counterpart. it is significantly lighter than the G-Master lenses but since I am using it for videography and photography with a lot of zoom changes. otherwise if you are using it in a calmer sense with not a lot of changes happening to your scene you are shooting, it is an amazing lens and is worth getting over the G-Master lens.

The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens has become a favorite among photographers and videographers for its exceptional balance of performance, portability, and affordability. Here’s a detailed review highlighting why this lens deserves its reputation:
Build Quality and Design
The lens is compact and lightweight, making it an excellent choice for on-the-go shooting. Despite its modest size, the build quality feels solid and professional. The lens features a weather-sealed construction, providing confidence when shooting in challenging conditions.
Image Quality
The Tamron 28-75mm delivers impressive sharpness across the frame, even wide open at f/2.8. Its constant aperture allows for excellent low-light performance and the ability to create creamy, pleasing bokeh. Chromatic aberration and distortion are well-controlled, especially considering its price point.
Versatility
This zoom lens covers a highly versatile focal range, from wide-angle to short telephoto, making it suitable for landscapes, portraits, events, and even product photography. Its compact design complements mirrorless camera systems, providing a balanced and ergonomic feel.
Autofocus Performance
Tamron’s RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive) autofocus motor is fast, silent, and precise. This makes the lens particularly suitable for video work, where smooth and quiet focusing is essential.
Value for Money
One of the most compelling aspects of the Tamron 28-75mm is its affordability compared to other f/2.8 zoom lenses. It offers professional-level performance at a fraction of the cost of its competitors, such as Sony’s G Master series.
Cons
While the lens performs exceptionally well, some users may notice minor vignetting or slight corner softness at the widest aperture. However, these can be easily corrected in post-processing and are a small trade-off for the overall performance and value.
Conclusion
The Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens is a standout option for photographers and videographers seeking a versatile, high-performance zoom without breaking the bank. Its lightweight design, sharp optics, and reliable autofocus make it an excellent all-around lens for both hobbyists and professionals. Whether you’re capturing landscapes, portraits, or videos, this lens is a worthwhile investment.
Highly recommended!

A Solid Performer for Capturing the Northern Lights in Alaska!
I recently had the opportunity to use the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Standard Zoom Lens for Sony during my unforgettable trip to Alaska to witness the stunning Northern Lights. Overall, I found this lens to be a solid performer, delivering excellent image quality and versatility for various photography situations.
The lens's image quality is undoubtedly commendable. The fast f/2.8 aperture allowed me to capture the magical display of the Northern Lights with impressive sharpness and vibrant colors. The lens handled low-light conditions admirably, enabling me to freeze the dynamic motion of the celestial spectacle.
The 28-75mm focal length range proved to be versatile and practical during my Alaskan adventure. It allowed me to capture both wide-angle shots of the breathtaking landscapes and more intimate details of the Northern Lights display without the need to switch lenses frequently.
The lens's autofocus performance was generally reliable, ensuring I could capture those fleeting moments of the Northern Lights dance. However, there were occasional instances where it struggled to lock onto the subject in challenging lighting conditions.
The lens's construction is sturdy, and its weather-sealing provided peace of mind while shooting in Alaska's unpredictable weather. Its lightweight and compact design made it easy to carry during long excursions to photograph the Northern Lights.
While the lens's image quality is impressive overall, there were times when I noticed a slight loss of sharpness towards the corners of the frame, particularly at wider apertures. This issue was minor and didn't significantly impact the overall quality of my images.
I was pleased with the lens's close focusing ability, which allowed me to capture unique perspectives and details of the landscape while incorporating the mesmerizing Northern Lights in the background.
In conclusion, the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 Standard Zoom Lens is a reliable performer, especially for capturing the enchanting Northern Lights in Alaska. Its image quality, versatility, and compact design make it a great companion for various photography needs. While it had a few minor quirks, they didn't outweigh its overall strengths. If you're looking for a solid and versatile lens to capture the magic of the Northern Lights and more, the Tamron 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III VXD G2 is definitely worth considering.

Incredible Lens and Customer Service from Tamron

I actually own the first version of this lens which isn't sold anymore, but it has been incredible and lives on my camera shooting events and portraits 90% of the time.
By all accounts this G2 version is better in every way and I'll be getting it soon, but I'm writing this review because I also want to give 5 stars to Tamron's customer service.
All of their lenses comes with a 6 year warranty and they've been so great about honoring that, repairing my lens and replacing parts. I just called their customer service number and someone answered immediately to help me, you just don't see that these days!
My point is that you can't go wrong buying from Tamron, they have a very loyal customer in me.
