Plastic parts easily subject to breakage. Fan is slightly noisy, but does the job to keep laptop cool. Geared more towards being placed/used on a desk, rather than on the users lap.

I really like the Targus chill mat. The only thing that I dislike about it is the noise of the fan.

Mom was pleased with her laptop and cooling station, it lifted her laptop and was easier for her to use.

The sloping tray and built in USB is very handy. When running hot, the combination of gaming laptop fans and the fans in this device can be a bit loud, but who cares if you're wearing the cool light up headphones. :-)

It does well with most of what it does, and everything holds up, except, as others have noted, the fans themselves can be pretty loud. They're no louder than my laptop when working properly, but pretty minor shifts can make at least one of the fans work out of alignment, which makes it ridiculously loud. Unplugging the fans seems to reset it to proper working, but this happens at least a couple times a week, when I'm using it regularly. The latches to adjust the height are fine and more solid than many other reviewers seem to imply. I also have a 17" laptop, and it feels completely secure when I'm using them together.

I like that the fan can angle my laptop into a different position and let air flow through better.

doesnt always like to stay locked in an angle, best if you plan to keep at desk and not move it from place to place usb ports do work for keyboard & mouse

Allows increased use for my laptop: keeps laptop cooler - lets me see keyboard easier by elevating laptop at adjustable angles - I use mine on a bed tray while in bed (very convenient). Lightweight. Looks nice with laptop.

i think the chill mat is great. The only issue is that it doesn't hold my 17" Alienware very well.

Whether due to poor quality control or a design flaw this chill mat has me scratching my head. I'm on my second one after returning the first for horrible fan vibration and the second one though a bit better occasionally gets "off balance" and one fan will suddenly sound like a 2-cycle outboard motor running at max rpm. Because it's intermittent and I've been able to quiet it by adjusting the stand, I'm thinking this might be as good as it gets without just giving up. The built in hub is what makes this model convenient and though potentially a contribution to the vibration, the adjustable stand is also a nice feature. Just wish the fans were a little less clunky.
