I bought this for a friend who would use their laptop on their lap -and then complain about how hot their laptop would get. I had to point out the fact that their clothing and legs were limiting airflow. I've had a Targus chill pad for my 17.3" laptop for three years now. Given its problem free service, I thought this would make a perfect gift! This particular unit has some major improvements over my older version -most notably, the USB cord storage: brilliant! It wraps along the inside edge of the mat and snaps in place. It even has a little tab to pull it out when you need it again. Seems like a small thing, but you will appreciate that design improvement. Quiet, comfortable, great design and solidly built. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

Although I wish the output of the dual fan capacity was stronger, it does help keep my laptop from overheating. The fans are a little noisy, but I am willing to put up with the noise if it keeps my laptop cool. I've used sever other cooling fans and they did not work well.

My laptop was shutting down a lot because of getting overheated. When I use this product, I can be on my computer all day and it doesn't overheat and shut down one time. It also makes it more comfortable on my lap.

Just what I was looking for. Just as effective as other more expensive cooling mats.

This chill mat keeps my ultrabook cool when I am on it for a long period of time. The heat difference can be felt when you work with or without it. The fan can be heard slightly when it's on, but it is not bothersome. The fan is not heard at all with headphones or earbuds.

I am really happy with the chill mat. My laptop kept overheating and turning off and I don't have that problem any more. It's very portable so I can easily move around with laptop and chill mat.

What I wanted was a simple device to cool my laptop, make little or no noise and be non-obtrusive. The Targus Chiller fits the bill perfectly. It's so quiet that it would be nice if it had a power switch and light so you whether it was on or off.

Good quality may but the air flow is subtle. Runs off one USB port.

Works as intended. Great value for the money. I wanted something to use when working in my bed. It allows me freedom to work comfortably without worrying about my laptop overheating.

This is my first laptop and first chill pad. It does what I need it to but it would be nice if it had more than one speed. So far I have only used it inside in a controlled temp environment. I am not sure it would cool it outside in heat.

I bought this laptop as a replacement for my current one because I bought a new, smaller laptop plus the fact that I had one before and loved it. The entire reason I bought it was because the fan is in the middle of the mat and there's another layer under it, so you can out it on the table or your lap or the bed and it won't interfere with the fan's operation. The only drawback I have is that the cable is attached to the left side which forces me to use my 3.0 USB cable. I have two 2.0 cables on the other side and while I can simply turn it around and use those, since the mat is slightly elevated, it makes It a bit awkward to use in that way.

Provides some extra air circulation for higher CPU loads.

This cooling fan runs whenever I am using my laptop, and it runs quietly and efficiently, keeps the laptop cool to the touch. It is very compact and fits nicely under the laptop.
