It's smaller then my last one so it doesn't cover the whole bottom of my lap top but it works just fine

I never had a fan with any of the computers I owned and this one works great. It is relatively quiet and does definitely keep the laptop cool. A bit small for a 15.6" laptop and it doesn't completely cover the base; unless on a completely flat surface [table versus lap] laptop tends to fall off.

The unit's cooling ability is limited due to the air flow being restricted by the very small vents for taking in air. There are other makes that are better designed by allowing greater air flow. I had a Belkin that had a single fan and concave shape that did a terrific job at keeping my workhorse 15" laptop cool - even on the hottest days. The vent that passes the air from the fans to the laptop doesn't cover the entire surface of the chill mat, which means if your laptop's vents are in front the air flow will never reach them. Useless. You really need two fans to keep the laptop cool, but it'll kill your battery life. For any extended use keep your power adapter handy. You'll be needing it. I could recommend this brand/model to a friend with the caveats I wrote above.

I like to use the lap top in bed.This fan keeps the lap top from getting over heated.

I bought this so I could work on it with my 15 inch laptop and the fan is too small for it. It is ok for table use after adjusting it to where it needs to be so it will cool my laptop down. If it was bigger it would be great for using it on your lap. My recommendation is if you have a 15 inch laptop go with the big one they sell.
