Offers pretty good protection against scratches and small/light bumps. It isn't a hard case and there are thicker, more heavily padded soft cases out there but this one isn't bad for the price.

Great gadget bag

I can easily carry my MacBook Pro, iPad, portable battery and all the little items required to make through a day in the field. Only complaint is that the strap pad is pretty flimsy. When I changed it out for a strap from another bag, it was much more comfortable.
