Customers are saying

Customers are positive about the picture quality, easy setup, price, Roku integration, and gaming experience of the 43" Class 5 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV. They appreciate the amazing picture quality, simple setup, affordability, convenience of Roku's built-in streaming platform, and its suitability for gaming. However, customers are negative about the remote control's cheap feel, concerns about durability, reports of screen issues and short lifespans, and the color quality.

Surprisingly, for a cheap TV, the quality is great. I bought it almost a year ago just to watch Apple TV because I can’t load the Apple+ app on my other TVs. I was surprised by all the preloaded apps, picture quality, sound quality and set up ease. Highly recommend to anyone looking for an inexpensive TV. Still loving it after almost a year!

Great TV so far. I was stuck between this model and a 5 series in a larger size. After leading that my dad has a 4 series I wish I had gotten the bigger TV. Picture is great, Roku system is great which I didn’t think I’d like but I don’t know why. Speakers are terribly balanced and had to get a sound bar in order to make it watchable. One Major/minor issue: It quickly developed a stuck pixel line and the top of the screen when using apps. I see it on Netflix and Disney+, not sure if I’ve seen it on YouTube, but it does not appear in the inputs. As of now it’s a minor issue as moving from app to app or restating the TV has gotten rid of it. The last time I had to do a factory reset which was very frustrating. It will remain a minor issue so long as simple actions will take care of the problem, but since it started within 1-2 months of owning, it will become a major issue if what I’ve seen so far is only the beginning. If you research the issue you should see plenty of forums describing the problem with no explanation from TCL from what I can tell. To my knowledge, my dads 4 series has never had this problem.

Good price point for someone that doesn't want to break the bank. Smart TVs have come a long way to becoming such a user friendly way to get your entertainment at reasonable prices. Good remote easy to navigate , everything at your fingertips. Would purchase again.

I bought this TV because it had the Roku. I had really never heard of the brand before. I am really happy that I bought it. Has lots of apps. Some you need to have a paid subscription and some free as well. So far, I am really pleased. Great picture.

I'm rating this product at a 4 only because within weeks of use, I experienced a temporary picture problem. Several streaming channels were fine until I attempted to "play" a show or movie. The screen looked like a photo negative (hard to describe) even though I had not made any changes to settings. The only channel that did not do this was YouTubeTV. I ended up trying the old stand by tech repair of unplug, rest, restart and all was fine. This may have been a data streaming issue (our provider is a local cable tv co.). It hasn't happened again so far and I'm hoping it was just an oddity occurrence. Otherwise, this is my second ROKU tv and I love it. This model is an upgrade with the 4K UHD and the picture quality improvement is noticeable. I'm not a video geek so I can't give tech details but there are plenty of tech reviews out there on the web that you can check out for yourself. As with all ROKU TV's, set up is a snap within minutes out of the box. The 43" size is great for small to medium sized spaces (mine is in a rather small 12x12 living room). Bottom line... the tv is well worth the price!!

i was very pleased with the TV. The set up was quite straight forward, the picture is great and the sound is decent. The built in Rocu is a great feature. This is my second TCL TV, The first is a good number of years old and we have been happy. There was at one point a problem, but they managed to arrange to replace a board and it's been fine since.

The good: This TV has a great picture (4K vids on Youtube look wonderful), and of course I love the super easy to use Roku format, much simpler than any other smart TV formats (I work at a pawn shop, so I am familiar with all brands of TVs). Sound is louder and clearer than I expected. Also love that the Roku phone app has a remote. Glad I bought a 5 series TCL instead of the cheaper 3 and 4 series you see at Walmart, etc. The bad: Don't use the headphone jack! After removing the headphone plug, the TV speakers would not work. Google revealed this is a common TCL problem. I had to insert & remove the plug quickly & repeatedly to get the TV speakers working again. Could have returned it, but we're a one TV household, so I chose to keep this TV since it's the only issue we've had, and odds are a replacement TCL TV would have the same issue, and I didn't want a different brand of Roku TV.

The price point was amazing considering how good this tv actually is. It’s my first Roku driven tv but it does everything I want a smart tv to do and it very well. Fast processing of selections is nice since my old tv seemed very slow. The picture and sound are very sharp and crisp. When the living room needs to be replaced I’m seriously looking at the TCL 65”

I bought this TV based on some reviews - sites like CNET & Wirecutter — TCL was always at the top. Then I came home & read the negative user reviews and wondered if I bought the wrong thing. I didn’t. The picture is good, but a bit dark - I will try to adjust it. The sound is crystal clear. It connected to my wifi without any of the delays or problems I’ve had with other TVs If you’ve never had a smart TV, you need to think of the TV as a computer, and the OS is Roku, instead of Mac or Windows. Given that, the remote is a standard Roku remote, and it has the standard Roku startup. Is the remote perfect? Of course not - I hate the space taken up by the Disney & Hulu buttons, but that was on my old TV too. You do NOT have to buy Roku streaming to use the TV — if you scroll to the bottom, it says “skip this step.” So yeah, it checks for updated software - so does every new computer I’ve ever had.

This is the first time I have purchased from this brand and so far I am very happy with it. It is very thin and lightweight. It's picture is very crisp and clear. I actually purchased it to use as a computer monitor and could not be more pleased with the quality of the picture. I had read that the legs made the tv a bit wobbly, but the rubber pads on the feet keep my tv firmly in place. CON: the TV seems overly sensitive to vibrations. After placing it on my desk I bumped the edge of my desk and part of the screen went white, like I had pressed my finger into a liquid display screen. Since I don't plan on beating away at my desk I'm not too worried about it, but I've never had a tv that was that sensitive to movement . CON: when used as a monitor the volume is very low. This could very well be a setting thing on my computer and not related to the tv at all. The volume is fine when using it for Roku, etc. Overall I am very happy with my purchase and enjoying my high quality monitor!

I'd rather give it 3.5 but you can't give half stars and it's not "really" four stars. First of the set isn't example stable in terms of software. Our household is and has been a power user of multiple Roku's going back years. Recent years have show them to lock up and reset themselves more often then before. Also the remotes get confused. You clearly push right in a one app and it quits the app and launches other. And no it's not mistakenly pressing the wrong button. With the TV these lock ups and TV reboots happen even more than the boxes themselves. We have Roku running in the house 6-12 hrs a day, often in an out all the time of various apps. Happens at least 1-2 times a week. Part of that is down to Roku being really the whole TV OS it would seem. Most other TV's have their own OS and then different company apps on top. Typically ROKU is a standalone box that you use with a TV with it's own OS and then you use company apps on the Roku. Here when they built in the Roku into the TV the Roku itself becomes not only the streaming box but also the TV OS with all the settings. It's a little odd to have in one place but it works out. Picture quality is ok I guess. Good for the price. I get this is a value yet. But the 15 year old plasma it replaced looked WAY better. I know the plasma was more expensive, but then it's almost two decades old. I guess I figured that the tech would have progressed more. Dolby Vision HDR look's pretty good. Non Dolby HDR material is ok. Off access viewing is okay. Again I'm complaining to a plasma but again the plasma is 15 yr old. I expect more in all that time. If you only have $300-500 to spend it's a decent set. Better than other brands for the same money. I wish it didn't lock up and reset so often. But we use more than most I guess so I don't know. If I had $500-1000 I would buy a cheapest OLED I could find, even if it was a prior year and go back to using a separate Roku box for sure next time, hands down, no questions. I still love Roku in general and swear by it over Apple TV, FireTV, etc; but I wouldn't get Roku built into a TV again. Too unstable, right now. Additionally I think OLED is still the way to go instead of LED. I understand they both have their up and down sides. I also understand that smaller OLED models are just hitting the market this year and they're 2-3x the price of LED. If you don't have the funds, don't watch much, or picture quality isn't of the "highest" priority this is a decent choice and a better value than others. If black level, contact, 4K, HDR are important to you pay 2x the price and get a prior year OLED. Or wait one more year since while LG (and Sony, panels made by LG) are currently the only OLED game in town; Vizio and several other companies will have OLED this year and be cheaper than LG. Honestly for me I only got this set because my Plasma died. If it haven't I was planning to by the new small LG (or Vizio) OLED, at a higher price vs this set, once they ship and end of the year.

I got this TV earlier this month and it arrived to my house within the week! I love it!! It’s very easy to set up and the control remote is very self explanatory and efficient! The images look so vibrant and crisps, I feel that for the price it’s such a good steal! I wish I had opted for a bigger size, but other than that, I enjoy this TV a lot

This is a hard to find size, and I was happy to find it at a good price. I like the Roku OS, which was already familiar because I also have a Roku player connected to another TV in the house. Good picture; works well. I use a sound bar with it, so I don't know how good the TV speakers are.

I was amazed at how this television was so easy to set up. And both the 4K player and soundbar work incredibly well with this unit. I also applaud TCL for having protecting wrapping on the screen. It's not an OLED or QLED, but the quality for the money is fantastic!

I am a prior owner of TCL tv’s and have had a great experience with them so far. This TV is a newer version of my old one and I felt like it was time to upgrade. Easy installation, quick setup, and great picture quality! I am very pleased with the Dolby Vision on xBox and it makes the graphics so much better.

My 5-star rating is not meant to suggest this TV has a better picture than the high-end TV's of the same size. That is unlikely. My 5-star rating is my overall opinion of this Roku TV. I have had an older Roku-1 box with a non-smart TV for a long time and I liked it, but the older Roku-1 box was showing its age, it was slow and really struggled with one channel in particular (History channel). I wanted an upgrade and got one in spades. The History channel works perfectly with this Roku TV as do all the other channels I've used so far I was able to ditch two of three remotes and do everything with the simple Roku remote. The ability to install the Xfinity Stream app and do away with the need for the hard-wired cable box was a plus. The Xfinity app works great and the whole package works seamlessly I can't say enough about the Roku operating system and this TV looks excellent even if its picture is not quite as good as the high-priced spread. For overall value I'd give it 10 stars if I could. The Roku operating system takes a little getting used to. If you are new to Roku there is a definite earning curve but once you start getting the hang of it the whole package just starts falling in to place.

Big screen for a low price. I have enjoyed this TV so far. If I use the remote that comes with it, it freezes up every time. I use the roku app, however, so that hasn't been an issue. It would be really frustrating if I couldn't use the app.
