I finally got the TCL 10,000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner for my 500 sq. ft. garage gym five days ago, and it’s already a total win. Summers here make my closed garage a sweatbox, and I keep it shut during workouts for privacy. Unfortunately, in the past, regular oscillating fans don’t do much for cooling me down, although better than nothing. Unboxing was easy: pulled out the unit, remote, and window kit with an exhaust hose, adapters, and a sliding panel. It’s got wheels, so I rolled it to my garage’s small window, hooked it up, and had it going in under 30 minutes. Love the mobility of this unit! The panel’s a tad flimsy, but it seals fine. Temps have been cooler lately, around 65°F outside, but the garage still gets stuffy with me in there working up a sweat, so garage temp is currently around 70-80 degrees during my workouts right now. I turned it on, and it brought the air down to a crisp 68°F in about 45 minutes. I felt so much better lifting without that trapped, muggy feeling. It’s rated at 450 sq. ft., so it’s pushing it a bit for my space, but it’s handling it just fine. It hasn’t hit summer heat yet with it being a slightly cooler March currently, but this was a must-have for those brutal days ahead, and it’s already proving itself. The smart features rock. I’m hooked on the Google Assistant integration. I say, “Hey Google, set the gym to 68,” and it’s ready before I start my warmup. It’s clutch since my hands are usually sweaty or chalky, and I don’t want to fumble with controls. The TCL app’s pretty solid and connected quick, lets me adjust temps, switch modes, and set schedules. It’s a little clunky, though; it looks basic and lags if I tap too fast. The remote’s great for mid-workout tweaks. Fan mode keeps air moving when I’m cooling off, and the dehumidifier cuts that damp garage feel, keeping my gear dry. Noise doesn’t bug me, since it hums low and gets louder on high, but I’ve got music cranking while I lift, so it’s not that big of a deal breaker. It’s sleek in white and rolls easy if I decide to rearrange. Some of the downsides: The single-hose setup isn’t perfect. It pulls some warm air back in, so it’s not super-efficient. Plus, the window kit’s plastic feels cheap, so I’m worried it might snap if I’m rough with it, but so far so good. Still, for making my garage gym comfy, it’s amazing! Really liking it for my workouts so far!

Didn't seem to circulate the air very well compared to other units I have owned.

Okay, but could use more power. Also not easy to adjust the angle of air flow.

I’ve spent over $400 and this doesn’t cool off to good. There is so much heat coming from the vent and even makes the plastic around the vent get up to 112. I have insulated the plastic tube and even weatherstripped around the window. But the temperature emitting from the vent and the heat it emits from plastic. Makes the cooling feature counter productive. Will be returning to get a double hose one. Buyer beware!! Emits more heat than the temperature outside. Do not buy this. Save your money!!

It’s not a self contained water system. Needs to be drained

This TCL portable air conditioner did not meet expectations at all. It stopped working entirely within the first month of use, leaving me without the cooling I purchased it for. The product’s description led me to believe it would be dependable, but my experience has been the opposite. Now I’m dealing with the hassle of warranty claims instead of enjoying a working unit. Potential buyers should think twice before purchasing.

This product was horrible. After 1 night of cooling, the error FT was displaying and the AC stopped cooling. I tried to use the continuous draining feature and it still had the FT error after 24 hours of the continuous draining. I have used two other brands and didn't have this problem. I purchased this one because I needed a larger portable AC.

Been using the unit for a month and it's already starting to sound like a bearing is failing.

Does the basic job but very loud. I would have reconsidered if insulation and the return wasn’t so difficult.

Those who fit the use case scenario: there's a small room and it has a window to vent through, this is perfect balance between performance, convenience, and nice feature. It provides relief from the heat, but without the inconvenience of having a unit that is fixedly mounted ac. So, if you’re considering a portable air conditioner that is easy to install, smart-enabled, and effective at cooling smaller spaces, the TCL 10,000 BTU SACC (H10P36W) is a pretty good and nice option for you.

PLEASE NEVER BUY FROM BB. I purchased this item, received the incorrect item, I then returned it and they are refusing to refund me. I spent 2 hours plus in the Best Buy store where the store clerks said I needed to contact the online customer service. Only for the online customer service to say I needed to contact the store because it was a in store return. Doesn't make sense right?

The unit I purchased last year was half the price and is only supposed to cover one room. However, this unit was over $600 and it keeps cutting off and every few hours I have to drain water from it which defeats the purpose of having it because it cuts up if I don't drain it every 2-3 hours. Unfortunately, I was out of town and now I can no longer return it because they only give you 2 weeks to return it.

We had to return this after only a week because it was putting off a chemical smell that was making us sick. Also, the vent hose got extremely hot when in use and because the connection wasn’t tight due to poor design, the hot air would leak back into our room. We would give this zero stars if we could. Would NOT recommend this air conditioner.

We didn't have air conditioning when I was growing up and I hated it. We had side sliding windows so even a window unit was out of the question at the time. The TCL Smart Portable Air Conditioner changes that. A little larger than a dehumidifier, this unit is on wheels and can be moved around as needed. You will need access to a window to vent the hot air. While this is a portable unit, it does weigh almost 75 pounds. If moving between floors with stairs, it could be difficult for just one person. If you’ve ever purchased a window air conditioner in the past, you are probably familiar with the BTU rating. This unit is 14,000 BTUs, pretty amazing for a portable unit. They changed the way portable units are measured now and the SACC (new) number is an average of multiple testing conditions vs ASHRAE (old) which is tested in a controlled environment. This TCL is rated for 450 square feet or a room about 21 feet by 21 feet. It cooled two rooms in my house without issue. There is also an app available for basic functions that mirror the included remote. This is a basic air conditioner, you have three modes--- cool, dry and fan; high, medium, low and auto fan speeds and a sleep mode, which is low speed and dimmed display. There is an automatic open/close louver on the top but this does not move to circulate the air like I've seen on some mini-splits and there are no directional adjustments. The vent hose uses a square connector that slides into the holder on the back of the unit.The other end screws into the window slider kit and sits inside your window frame. The hose is stiff and holds its shape when installed. I wish there was a connector end on the slider side also, as screwing it in is kind of jenky. The window slider is my first issue. It comes in three pieces, one with a cutout for the hose, a middle piece and a third piece for longer windows. All three pieces are solid. The problem is unless your window is exactly the size of the vent piece 20.5 inches or between 31- 40 inches, you will need to cut the slider to make it fit. This will require a saw of some sort, I used a circular hand saw. Grandma’s gonna need some help with this one. Included is a good amount of foam tape to insulate around the openings. Another concern is that unlike a window unit that provides some security against break-ins, there is no way to effectively secure your open window with the slider.The third thing that I’m not particularly fond of is the display. It's positioned on top of the unit directly behind the louver. If you are not standing in front of the unit, looking down, you can't see it. So if you are sitting on the couch with the remote trying to make adjustments, you can't see the display and will have to get up. To avoid this frustration, use the TCL Smart Life app! The app can be used to control the TCL SPAC wherever you are. Unlike a window unit that discharges the condensation outside, this design is like a dehumidifier. The condensation is captured in a bucket located on the back side of the unit. You will have to drain it. You have two options to accomplish this. A drain plug on the bottom of the unit allows you to drain it into a pan like a cake pan. There is another drain port just above this that you can attach a garden hose to for continuous draining provided it’s located near a floor drain/sink/large bucket. I do like this design, it allows you to have an air conditioner in rooms never before accessible. For example, my house has iron bars over the first floor windows preventing a window unit. Not any more. Also the windows in my attic are too small for a standard window unit but with the design of the TCL SPAC, I can now cool it off up there when using that area. I give the TCL Smart Portable Air Conditioner four stars and recommend it for anyone needing an air conditioner that fits where standard units don’t.

Not good did not cool off the room as advertised

Too noise. Not reliable, it does not cold my room.

I live in South Florida, and my home has a three sided sun porch that serves as my man cave (yeah, my wife kicked me out of the living room). My porch faces north, which means I only get direct sunlight in the morning and in late afternoon and evening, but my porch has an aluminum roof, so it gets hot. For years, my window air conditioner did a good job of keeping my porch at a comfortable ambient temperature. Then, in their infinite ‘wisdom’, my HOA decided they didn’t want any more air conditioning units in the windows. We were told to leave our sliding doors open and let the a/c from inside the house cool the porch. Clearly, the HOA powers that be, never studied physics or HVAC. When this TCL 3-in-1 Smart Portable Air Conditioner presented itself, I jumped on it. The size of this unit is relative, depending on the size of your room and amount of items you have in it. For an 8x20 porch, organized for entertaining, I’d call it a large unit, as its presence is noticeable. And it’s heavy (62 lbs.), thank goodness it has handles and wheels. The filters are easy to remove and clean. A feature I love because I don’t have to buy replacement filters. The window slider kit is well thought out, and can be used on conventional windows or windows that swing out or slide sideways. In case of the latter, the slider can be installed vertically (as long as the windows aren’t taller than 60 inches). Setup was a breeze. The instructions that came with the unit were detailed without being complicated. There was a QR code in the manual to easily help you download the Smart Life app. Honestly, even though this device can be controlled via the app or with a smart home device, I prefer to use the old fashioned remote control (batteries included, btw), it does everything I need. I just used the app to set a sleep mode schedule for the unit. This unit does need to be drained since it collects so much water. It'll stop running when it's full. You have to remove the plug on the bottom of the unit and let the water drain into a pan, but that becomes a pain when the unit is running all day in humid weather. The unit comes with a plastic hose which allows you to have the water drain directly into a pan, or, if available, into floor drain. The hose that came with the unit is short, barely over a foot long. I intend to buy a short garden hose to give me a little more flexibility. I recommend placing this unit away from the wall and make sure the intake grill in the back isn't blocked or encumbered. Obtaining this unit was a blessing. I love sitting on my porch watching TV all day, but without my window a/c unit, the heat was absolutely stifling. Having a combination air conditioning unit and dehumidifier is just what the Florida weather demands. If you don’t have central air or your window design won’t support a conventional unit (or if you have an officious HOA), this TCL portable air conditioner is a viable and welcome option. It’s effective in the Florida heat and has some nice features. I highly recommend it. Pros: - Great alternative to a window unit - Wheels and handles make it easy to move around the room - Remote Control - App controlled - Compatible with smart home devices - Can be constantly drained into a pan, bucket or floor drain - Fliters are easy to remove and clean - Very long power cord (almost 5 feet) - Relatively quiet operating speed Cons: - Very short drainage hose - Without the hose, you'll have to empty the unit manually constantly

Terrible air conditioner. Its more like a fan. Almost 600.00 for a 10,000 btu that cools like fan is ridiculous. The lowest temperature is 64• and it doesnt cool below 80. I wish I would have returned it.

I am still waiting to get this. It has not been delivered!
