It is very loud, and I find that in the heat, it does not cool the room as I would like it to. And my electricity bill has shot through the roof!

Dont love the top fed ventilation also dont belive its a good quality as the fedders i teplaced after maybe 7 years

We had to return this after only a week because it was putting off a chemical smell that was making us sick. Also, the vent hose got extremely hot when in use and because the connection wasn’t tight due to poor design, the hot air would leak back into our room. We would give this zero stars if we could. Would NOT recommend this air conditioner.

As someone that picked up one of this style of AC about 5 years ago and had a bad experience I’m really glad I gave it another shot. At that time these weren’t ready for the mainstream yet as they didn’t cool well and had to empty water trays and overall the experience was very poor to the point I returned it and went with a old style window unit. THIS one however has the kinks worked out and pumps cool air finally with all the perks without those same side effects. Right off the bat the packaging is very good and the unit comes protected well from harm. This said it’s much heavier than I expected it to be so be careful if you’re bringing it up stairs or anything. In the same note I’m also glad it has wheels and can move easily once out of the packaging heh. Speaking of the moving around I love that I can move it around to blow where I need and it took a few days but I sorted the best place for it to evenly cool my area. I have this sitting in a living room / open kitchen area that’s about 550sq ft so a little larger than this unit is rated for, however this does the job just fine and doesn’t seem to struggle at all. It is self evaporative so there is no need to mess with emptying water (unless you’re using the dehumidifier mode only). If using the other modes you may attach a hose to the rear bottom to drain the water but if using AC it needs to be plugged as it uses the water to cool the coils to be more efficient. This is smart and wifi enabled which is an excellent feature though I will say the instructions for setting this up with the app is rather bad and took a lot of guessing until it worked which is why I removed a star. Once it did work it worked well and correctly which is all you can ask of it. The unit itself is fairly loud on full blast but very subtle when in quieter modes which you can fully adjust weather with the app, remote or on the unit itself depending on your situation. Overall I really like the way this works and how easy it is to setup. I’ve struggled with window ac units for years and I’ve about been tiered of setting em up and taking em down each seasonal change so this is a very welcome change finally. With the ease of use and its ability to cool you really can’t ask for any better. I’m really glad these portables are finally worth the time. We shall see how these fair once we start hitting over 100F.

I finally got the TCL 10,000 BTU Smart Portable Air Conditioner for my 500 sq. ft. garage gym five days ago, and it’s already a total win. Summers here make my closed garage a sweatbox, and I keep it shut during workouts for privacy. Unfortunately, in the past, regular oscillating fans don’t do much for cooling me down, although better than nothing. Unboxing was easy: pulled out the unit, remote, and window kit with an exhaust hose, adapters, and a sliding panel. It’s got wheels, so I rolled it to my garage’s small window, hooked it up, and had it going in under 30 minutes. Love the mobility of this unit! The panel’s a tad flimsy, but it seals fine. Temps have been cooler lately, around 65°F outside, but the garage still gets stuffy with me in there working up a sweat, so garage temp is currently around 70-80 degrees during my workouts right now. I turned it on, and it brought the air down to a crisp 68°F in about 45 minutes. I felt so much better lifting without that trapped, muggy feeling. It’s rated at 450 sq. ft., so it’s pushing it a bit for my space, but it’s handling it just fine. It hasn’t hit summer heat yet with it being a slightly cooler March currently, but this was a must-have for those brutal days ahead, and it’s already proving itself. The smart features rock. I’m hooked on the Google Assistant integration. I say, “Hey Google, set the gym to 68,” and it’s ready before I start my warmup. It’s clutch since my hands are usually sweaty or chalky, and I don’t want to fumble with controls. The TCL app’s pretty solid and connected quick, lets me adjust temps, switch modes, and set schedules. It’s a little clunky, though; it looks basic and lags if I tap too fast. The remote’s great for mid-workout tweaks. Fan mode keeps air moving when I’m cooling off, and the dehumidifier cuts that damp garage feel, keeping my gear dry. Noise doesn’t bug me, since it hums low and gets louder on high, but I’ve got music cranking while I lift, so it’s not that big of a deal breaker. It’s sleek in white and rolls easy if I decide to rearrange. Some of the downsides: The single-hose setup isn’t perfect. It pulls some warm air back in, so it’s not super-efficient. Plus, the window kit’s plastic feels cheap, so I’m worried it might snap if I’m rough with it, but so far so good. Still, for making my garage gym comfy, it’s amazing! Really liking it for my workouts so far!

Very loud, it sucks draining out the water. The lowest temperature goes to 64 degrees.

It cooled nicely until it just stopped cooling. It worked for less than 9 months, but did have the winter off, so maybe we got 4 months' use out of it? And, it was loud! Wow, talk about white noise, this has it!

I’ve spent over $400 and this doesn’t cool off to good. There is so much heat coming from the vent and even makes the plastic around the vent get up to 112. I have insulated the plastic tube and even weatherstripped around the window. But the temperature emitting from the vent and the heat it emits from plastic. Makes the cooling feature counter productive. Will be returning to get a double hose one. Buyer beware!! Emits more heat than the temperature outside. Do not buy this. Save your money!!

Well built, great features, easy to operate, easy to install. Everything you want in a portable air conditioner. The only thing that was a bit of an issue but NOT really a negative was the weight of the AC and having to carry it up to the second floor. Other than that, it’s a gem of an air conditioner. In a few minutes you can begin to cool down your environment. The window opening was of short height using the included window adjustable frame to which you attach the retractable tubing which allows to exhaust moisture out. Follow the instructions on how to position the tubing so you get the best results in condensation moving out and about to which it will help keep the AC in great working condition. Features which I love are the on/off timer. When you’re in a rush and you can’t remember to shut down your AC, setting the timer the night before to shut off by a certain hour Can help reduce costs. Having the timer set to begin cooling before your arrival back home/office can be welcoming. You can also control your unit as it comes wifi enabled. Another favorite feature is the ability control the leavers. You can set to fixed or to oscillate and as it’s oscillating you can stop it at a certain point to allow for airflow to continue in a static position. When shutting down the unit, there’s a countdown from 20-0 seconds and the leavers shut gently during the countdown. This allows for keeping the unit from gathering dust, from particles falling in and helping to keep it clean. Remember to clean out your filters and replace then to allow for the unit to continue to work properly. You should install the unit so you have space around it so it can have air flowing around its perimeter to keep the unit from overheating. There’s a sleep button feature also which is very useful. The unit comes with permanent indents on either side to make it easier to lift it. You can raise and lower the temperature the unit puts on using the remote control included or manually by pushing buttons on the top panel of the unit. The AC comes in slow, fast and auto speeds. You can select to use the AC as a dehumidifier but you need to use the hose it comes with to allow for the humidity in the room being extracted by the unit to flow out of the unit. The sound the unit puts out while on, I would consider average, not too quiet, not too noisy. I would recommend this air conditioner.

This TCL portable air conditioner did not meet expectations at all. It stopped working entirely within the first month of use, leaving me without the cooling I purchased it for. The product’s description led me to believe it would be dependable, but my experience has been the opposite. Now I’m dealing with the hassle of warranty claims instead of enjoying a working unit. Potential buyers should think twice before purchasing.
