Huge mistake

I had it for much longer, and I'll say you're better off saving your money and purchasing from a more reputable brand. There is a reason hardly anyone has heard of TCL. Here is my cautionary tale. I originally purchased this a couple months ago because of the price and value at the time for a 50 inch 4K display. Admittedly, the picture quality was not bad, nor were the Roku features. I was please with it for most of the past year. It seems this TV is not intended to last that long though. A lot of YouTubers and reviewers were hyping TCL back then, but no one really did any long term reviews of it. The real issues came about when the IR sensor started to fail a few weeks ago and my remotes wouldn't work. TCL sent over a repair person to replace it. That was all fine and good...but about an hour later, the screen began to flicker every few seconds. Drove me nuts. This is an apparently common issue with this unit. Luckily it happened within the warranty so it would be taken care of...or so it seemed. TCL offered a "new" replacement TV after I sent over some pictures and videos. They were easy to work with and the process was pretty quick. Then the TV arrived. It was "Factory Recertified." I took it out of the box and it was bent on both sides with a crack on one. The display had discoloration on the sides. After to speaking to TCL again, the offered to send me another replacement. I requested that they not send me a refurbished one, but a new one of the same model since that was what I purchased. The representative said she tried to get me a new one, but I had my original for over 6 months so I wouldn't be qualified for a new TV. This was NEVER mentioned to me or stated anywhere in the warranty materials. She assured me that my next TV would be nearly "perfect." I think you can guess where this is going. They sent over another refurbished TV that is also bent. Not as badly as the other, but it looked like I got it as a second rate pawn shop. I just contacted TCL and they are reviewing what I sent them. I refuse to have another refurbished unit sent to me. TLDR: This TV is not a great long term investment. My insignia from 2012 is still running perfectly fine, but this TCL lasted barely a year. I've actually had good interactions with customer service, however, the warranty issue really turned me off from this brand. If you can't reliably provide a quality product, why should we waste our money?
