    Great TV for this price point. Pros: (1) Easy set-up (2) Excellent picture-After following calibration described in this article: https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/news/2008/07/hdtv-adjust-the-picture-for-best-quality/index.htm. I first tried calibration steps found on a popular tech site but the picture quality was not good. I was going to return the tv but decided to try the calibration steps listed in the above article. Wow ... what a difference !! (3) Headphone jack: Trying to cut cost and discovered that I was able to plug in an old but good speaker set I purchased for my computer years ago. Wow! What a difference in sound quality!! Roku's control automatically controlled the volume (no changes to settings required). (4) Digital tuner: Out of curiosity, I hooked-up an indoor HD antenna I purchased a few years ago. 40 stations were picked up, with about 10+ channels having an excellent picture and the majority of remaining channels having a good to very good picture. This is nice if you are trying to cut costs. (5) Remote: Very simple with only a few buttons (6) User Interface: Very simple. When you turn on the TV, the inputs are listed as icons on the same screen as the channels (Netflix, Prime, etc.) and the input icons can be renamed to personalize. I moved the channels I watch to the top under the inputs so I do not have to scroll through the channels to get to the ones I watch. (7) If you are trying to reduce costs and cut the cable, You Tube TV has excellent picture quality on this Roku TV. Cons: (1)Calibration required to get excellent picture; however, steps to calibrate are available online free of charge. Guess most TV's require this now. (2) No blue-tooth, but if you are not using the headphone jack for your speakers, a blue-tooth adapter could be inserted in the headphone jack. (3) Poor sound quality, which can be expected with TV's today. If you are watching costs, you might be able to find a good computer speaker a lot cheaper than a TV speaker.

    We’ve had this tv for just over a year and it started powering itself off. It will stay on for less than 30 seconds and turns itself off. Best Buy said too bad since we didn’t buy an extended warranty. TCL support walked me through a hard reset and it still did not help. Not worth the money for a tv that only lasts a year and 4 months!

    Noticed an issue with the screen day 1. Thought it was just me so I dealt with it and tried to mess with the settings. Turns out, this TV is known to have issues randomly, I would have loved it (because of its features) if it wasn’t for its bad screen issues. Bought a different TV instead upon return. Best Buy was AWESOME with handling my issues.

    Wonderful value for the price tag. This tv is super easy to use and set up (I was able to unbox it and get it placed in my home without help). Looks great with the narrow bezels and paper thin screen. Picture quality is great. Great deep blacks with the HDR feature. Using with a Bose solo 5 and it’s perfect for my bedroom.

    I unboxed the TV and began the setup process. After setup was complete, it said that it needed to update the firmware and reboot, but it never came back on. I took it back to the store, and the Geek Squad agent was also not able to get it to come on.

    Do not buy. The tvl tv is good but the operating system is not. You cannot do anything else of what want roku. Only way to have modern system is to have a stick from amazon or google. Roku will not go far like aol did because of control on your apps

Our TVs, once connected to the Internet, give you access to thousands of streaming channels and over 500,000 movies and TV episodes. However, there are some streaming channels that require subscriptions, pay-per-view, rental, or purchases to view their content. There is also a lot of free content, such as the Roku channel which offers a variety of free movies. You can find the "featured free" menu option from the home screen that will show you free content. You can also go to Home>Streaming Channels>Top Free to find even more free content.     Great TV for the price Sound is good. This is coming from a guy with A dolby Atmos 11 speaker set up including 2 subwoofers. I use with my home theater set up Remote is small not too many buttons but gets the job done and you get use to it quick Most smart tvs app stores are limited but this tv comes with ROKU tv . Tons of apps.This is my First time using roku tv as i have a Apple 4k tv i use for streaming on my 75” lg. But so far Roku is pretty cool I use this tv as a bedside tv. Picture quality is decent. I never expected it to look the same. As a $3000 lg TV i own. Its the same a buying a Toyota and say its no good because you expect it To perform as a Ferarri would . So to make those kinds of comparisons wouldnt be right. This is a great entry level TV for anyone now getting into 4k Without wanting to spend $1000 +. For a decent tv. In its size range So for $479 after tax and a 2 year warranty from best buy im happy customer.I would definitely recommend this tv Ive owned nothing but samsung,sony and LG TVs. Up until now but couldnt see myself paying that high price for a tv for my bedroom. Im not a gambling man. But i took a gamble on this brand and im glad i did

    Great TV For The Money

    Have a 70" 4k Samsung TV bought this for Master bedroom and in my opinion it looks just as good as the Samsung. This tv is on 8-10 hours a day for over a year now and its still going strong. Love the built in Roku especially since comcast has an xfinity app that allows me to watch live tv in HD (no cable box). Only con is the speakers aren't that great I added a sound bar. Love it so much I've purchased 4 of them for my office.

    Maybe it was just our luck, but this TV wasn't very good at all. The remote was incredibly unresponsive. Trying to adjust the volume was so frustrating.

    I also have a Samsung 6000 series 4k smart tv, but it's just a 43 incher. I recently picked up a Toshiba fire tv in the same price range as this TCL, but I was not satisfied with the interface (picture and color was good) ... so I did more research and this TCL kept popping up on "best" lists ... and it was on sale at Best Buy. I pushed the limit in size for my bedroom tv and got this 49 incher. The Roku interface is EASY and FLAWLESS. My smaller Samsung has a great picture, great colors and a real good interface ... I'd give it a 8.5/10 for sets in that price range. This TCL Roku totally surprised me ... for a set below $300 ... the colors are every bit as good as my Samsung ... very vivid and they pop. The 4k movies, etc also look great ... as does the regular programming on streaming apps and even when watching Dish programming. Where this set falls just a little short is with the deep black and darker tones. Also, the overall look of the picture isn't quite as bright when looking at detailed clarity as compared to my Samsung. I also compared this TCL 5 series to a 4 series and can say that if you plan on watching any 4k programming ... definitely pay the few bucks more for this 5 series. This Best Buy product is the S15 instead of the S17 (Walmart carries the S17). This S15 model does have the standard infrared remote which does require line of site ... otherwise, they are identical TVs. Overall, in comparing it to my Samsung, I'd say it's around an 8.0/10 ... just slightly lower evaluation than my Samsung ... at half the cost! If you are considering a 50 inch TV in a budget price range and you are picky but not quite a total perfectionist ... then you will be satisfied with this TV. The only other potentially negative or con would be if you have a large room and have to spend time in side viewing, then you might not be satisfied with side viewing wash out. This picture is great when viewing straight in front of it or maybe slightly off center. So ... take the plunge ... splurge a bit more for this TCL 5 series and catch it when it's on sale ... you can't go wrong!

    Terrible picture bleeding corners bottom right left return this shouldn't be a problem a lot of TVs especially with 60 hertz

    Picked one up on sale and was amazed at the picture for the price paid. Excellent picture and the built in Roku is quite nice. The remote could be better.. I may try and use the roku app on phone for better functionality or pick up a roku wifi remote. My old plasma finally bit the dust and this is a nice replacement at 1/4 the price
