Terrible tv choice
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV doesn't cut off. A technician came out to replace a part and still doesn't work. TCL is hard to work with for warranty. I took a chance on TCL and made a mistake.

Posted .Hello,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you did not have the same great experience that a majority of our customers report having. This TV typically produces a beautiful picture. There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, expert picture settings, and more. Furthermore, for the Netflix issue, you can first try uninstalling the streaming channel and then reinstalling it. To do this you can highlight the streaming channel on the home screen and press the asterisk (*) button on your remote, then scroll down to 'Remove channel'. You would then need to go to Home>Streaming Channels>Search Channels>Type in Netflix. You would then select the streaming channel and select 'Add channel'. If you need any further assistance, please reach out to us at [email protected] with your contact information and a description of what you need help with. Enjoy!
Thank you,
Sara

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. Lasted For 2 1/2 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased June, 2020 and enjoyed a sharp picture and loaded features. The TV started freezing and showing vertical lines around the 2 year mark. There is sound but no picture which seems to be a known issue with this TV. I regret not spending more on a more reputable brand.

I really like it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TV looks and works great with many good and latest features. Its menu performance (speed at bringing them up and navigating them) and video performance is very good. I think the built in speakers are ok when I checked it out briefly the first day but I have been using a soundbar the whole time otherwise. I really like that it let me download the xfinity app so I can watch my cable TV without a box and maybe more importantly, without the cable itself. Really nice if you have cable service. I've had Roku devices for quite a few years now and do like the Roku service, menu interface, apps selection and general performance and setup options. So the TV itself is 5 stars for me. The remote is a disappointment though. It needs to be pointed directly at the lower middle of the TV to work. In fact, during setup I thought for a while that the TV was freezing up and not responding and was thinking I would have to return it as defective but it was just that I was not pointing the remote at the correct area of the TV and so it was not taking input. Once I figured that out all went ok. The remote has 3 or 4 large buttons dedicated to specific subscription services of which I don't pay for 3 of them and I accidentally hit them once in a while and it kicks me out of my video and its app and tries to start the service listed on the button. Really bad in my opinion and a sign of advertising dollar greed over customer best interests IMO. The buttons should be programmable to whatever apps the TV owner chooses. I didn't see any place in the menus to do that. Another area where the remote is deficient - it can't navigate the menus of my xbox one the way my other TV remotes can. This is a pain if you like to check out friends or apps on your xbox but not actually getting its controller to play games. Now I have to switch to the xbox controller just to go through the menus. If you have one you know what I mean. You do have the option of using a Roku phone app or a universal remote (I have not tried either yet) if you want but I believe the remote of a very well engineered and customer pleasing device should not have any of the issues I mention above. FYI: I guess you would have to spend more and get a Samsung or LG or something if these issues are important to you. I wanted an inexpensive TV so price was a major factor and I really like the TV and its software and performance so I will only knock one star for the remote deficiencies. Even with the remote not being all that it should be, I am happy with the TV and I think anyone looking in this price range would be also.

Good Picture, Very Bad Remote
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price, the TV itself is fine as far as features and picture performance. It was delivered on time by Best Buy. I unpacked it and installed it myself with no problems. I only have a problem with the remote. It is just like the Roku remote with very few buttons. So if you hook this TV up to a off the air antenna, you will not have the "number buttons" to change channels. You will have to scroll up or down to select your channel. And the volume controls on this remote are 2 tiny buttons on the side of the remote which is very hard to get use to. TCL tells me that their TVs are mainly made for streaming Roku and that is why the remote is like a Roku remote. I am not a big fan of Roku so had I known that, I would have purchased a different brand of TV.

Blown Away!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this TV last night as a replacement to a 3 year old Toshiba that died on us. This TV is for my Dad and did not take long to set up at all. The design of the TV is pretty intricate as well. The picture though, wow. We were watching 4k UHD content and was blown away by the colors, contrast and sharpness right away over streaming. The blacks are pretty good on this too which is a big take away. Do not regret this choice purchase at all

Great while it lasted (6 weeks)
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV was great while it lasted. For the price, I don't think there is a better deal. Nice thin bezel, bright screen with great color and contrast. The remote is OK once you get used to it, and the Roku operating system is pretty good, nice and snappy and features a great rolling guide for those of us who watch a lot of over-the-air antenna TV. Settings out of the box were pretty good and easy to get set up how I liked as far as color and contrast. I had a few issues, which ultimately led to returning the TV. So, being a budget TV, I definitely could see the "dirty screen effect", but it wasn't so bad, I was willing to live with it. Motion was not great, I could see it stutter on slow panning shots, things like leaves on trees or grass would look kind of weird, but again, for the price paid, these were pretty minor and easily overlooked. I'm not a videophile watching this in a home theater room. The TV has a feature where you can plug in a USB thumb drive and it would use that memory to let you pause live TV. It also caused live TV to occasionally freeze, so that feature was useless. But, again, budget TV, I was willing to overlook that. After about 6 weeks, a vertical blue line appeared, and wouldn't go away no matter how many times tech support had me reset the TV. I get it, no brand is 100%, bit this was disappointing. Lucky for me, best buy accepted the return, but with no TCL 525 TVs available, I went with another brand. As much as I'd like to give TCL another shot, I didn't want to chance it

Worst TV Ever! Died after 14 months
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.DO NOT BUY THIS TV ....without extended warranty. I bought this last year as I was looking for a nice budget gaming TV. These specs seem awesome. They look nice on paper . I can say it look sharp and crisp for the price, even though HDR brightness was mediocre. The thing is I didn't get the extended warranty from BB thinking this was going to last at least 4 years since I have 2 Samsung's that have more than 6 years without any problems. The screen died and the backlight died all the same day after only 14 months. I called TCL they just said " you can contact a technician from your country".... yeah sure it will cost me less to buy a new TV . The support is poor. I missed my warranty by 2 months but they didn't even wanted to help with some kind of information. Basically the call was like "it's your fault you should have gotten a warranty" as if these TV 's are made to last less than 3 years. This is my second TCL the has died before 2 years, the other one is my daughter's 32" but I was able to fix that, as it was the power supply. In all these TV aren't meant to last so you better buy extender warranty, or just go with Samsung, LG or Sony, even Hisense
