I wanted a middle of the road 55" TV. The picture and sound on the TCL Mini-QLED far surpassed my expectations. Easy set up and so far so good

This TV is overall great, especially if you are looking to utilize the power of modern gaming consoles. It has HDMI 2.1, 120 Hz Refresh, and VRR support. The screen is beautiful, great colors, and awesome picture for you games and movies. HOWEVER The Apps, operating system, and usability are absolutely horrible. First, it wants you to sign into google, so if you have privacy concerns you have to be pretty careful about your settings. It is absolutely full of Apps you will probably never use and they are tedious and annoying to uninstall, if it even lets you. For example, you press several buttons to get to the screen, click uninstall, confirm, then BAM it sends you to the home screen requiring you to do everything over to uninstall the next bloated garbage useless app. Once you run an app, they often lock up or crash, requiring a reboot of the TV. You can chose to not sign into Google, but then you cannot download additional apps, at least, I have not found out how. So you are stuck with the BLOATWARE garbage that is pre loaded. Sorry, no one watches Tubi. Want to get that app off your home screen? Good Luck. This isn't talking smack about the TV itself, its fine. It is just a chore to use such a poorly designed OS and the Google TV is simply awful. I highly recommend using an external steaming device, never signing into google, and watch your TV from there. I love the simplicity of my ROKU player and wish this TCL TV had Roku instead of Google. My old TCL had Ruku and most do. Unfortunately, the only comparable TCL TV with Roku installed does not support the modern gaming features for PS5. TCL, if you read any of these, know that Google is a farty dumpster fire and all your TVs should use Roku. If you have an external player and want a good TV get this one. If you want to be constantly annoyed, bombarded by obtrusive Ads, use Apps that work 15% of the time, difficult navigation, and want all your personalized data monetized with no benefit to you, get this TV. Of course I am joking, if you don't care about the gaming stuff, get the TCL 55S546 with Roku and avoid Google TV like plague.

Great tv, has great picture quality and very good for gaming

As someone who gets really annoyed about small picture issues and is typically an OLED fan, I was absolutely blown away with this TV. It bothers me that so many reviewers will completely discount the smaller brands and favor the "top tier" brands every time. TCL was the fist to bring Mini-LED to market and they are by far the best at it right now. To beat the picture of this TV, you would have to spend at least double on a TV from one of the "better" brands. A lot of people question how long TCL's last, but I have had their TVs before and had no issues, but if that is a concern for you, buy the 5 year warranty and you'll still save money compared to similar TVs from the bigger brands which also don't last forever. The sales people at Best Buy are going to try to sell you on one of the bigger brands that takes up 75% of their floor space (we all know what brand it is) and I have fallen for it too and returned those TVs immediately. All TVs will look great in the store, but this TV actually overdelivers on local dimming, is ridiculously bright, and has so many more features than you would expect. The only issue I had was an issue with setting up my soundbar, but a quick search online and it was fixed. The operating system takes a little getting used to, but once you do, it is actually pretty great. If this TV is on sale at all when you are looking to buy, it is really the only one you need to look at. Bundle this with a soundbar and a warranty, save your money, and call it a day.

So far great!! We have the tv in a small shed we have that we have turned into a get away room. The shed is easily 100 feet away from the main house and the tv still connects to wifi flawlessly. Picture quality is great and the motion pact scenes are not laggy or buggy at all. We paired it with the JBL sound bar and woofer, the one with the tall 300watt subwoofer, and it is a wonderful combination!! Plus the price for a tv with a 165hz refresh rate is amazing

Great budget TV for gaming and streaming, bought it just to last for a few years until I could upgrade. Finally upgraded and out this in the living room.

Great tv. A step up from my last tv. Great picture quality. Got a great deal on it as well. Easy to set up and get my steaming apps on it.

First off, the picture quality is excellent, even better than the R635 I replaced it with; gaming with the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X looks and performs great as well. However, I *hate* the Google TV interface. It is slow, crashes often and is buggy more times than not, which is why I'm only giving 4 stars, though it's not enough to make me want to return it.

This television has a remarkable picture at times. Certain content appears dark or washed out. I've tried adjusting the settings multiple times. HDR settings are nice. The interface does leave a lot to be desired. Overall this TV is a good mid-range in my opinion.

Excellent color accuracy and deep blacks. In terms of price to performance, this TV is unmatched.

I use this tv mainly for gaming and it’s great. It has basically every spec you should look for in a tv and sounds great as well.

Excellent gaming budget gaming TV. Do not use the vivid setting off the bat, try to play with them until you feel that you get good quality picture.

I like the vibrant colors, the multiple HDMI connections, and the detailed picture settings. I was able to compare this image to an old Panasonic side by side. The plasma and TCL were both in movie mode and the TCL had much deeper color. The TCL does fade off angle but that seems to be common of most VA panel TVs.

I was worried that I might regret not spending another 50% to get an OLED but for the most part I’m happy with this set. Contrast, uniformity, brightness, and black levels are all good. The only issue I have with picture quality is when watching dark scenes in a very dark room, I can see the backlight zones trying to keep up and not quite managing (I first noticed this on the main titles of The Lord of the Rings). Usability is a mixed bag. I generally like the Google TV interface (and had used it on a chromecast before buying so I knew what I was getting into), but in the first few weeks I had to reboot the TV every 3-4 days, switching inputs takes too many clicks, and the YouTube app crashes pretty regularly (other built-in apps seem to work fine). I also love that the TV has a headphone jack and supports Bluetooth audio output, and can automatically switch audio outputs each with their own separate volume memory.

Bought it for PC gaming, the VRR works with my PC RTX 3070 g-sync no issue. Pixel response time is not bad as a VA panel, and 120hz gaming is quite a bit better than 60hz. And the input latency is pretty good too in game mode too. But if you play a lot of FPS, IPS 144hz+ monitor is a better choice. As a regular and gaming TV, this is amazing- Picture quality: SDR 8/10 HDR 8.5/10 Sound quality 7/10 This TV is so bright, 800-1000 nits on most contents and the black level is very good too. Color is vibrant but not over saturated. Blooming is minimal. The picture quality is just as good as my old Sony X900E if not a bit brighter. And at a cheaper price too, very good value. 4k 120hz VRR with bright enough HDR and supports 12bits color - Just get it!

The picture quality is amazing. I’m so happy with how it looks. I love have 2 HDMI outputs able to handle 120hz and 4k hdr and Dolby vision. There is no reflection and the screen is super bright. I use it for movies and playing video games and I’ve never seen a tv more impressive than this one. If you care about picture quality and settings for your films and video games then this is an easy purchase to make.

So far so good . Still buggy with YouTube tv and some streaming apps. Good purchase . If you want a 4K 120hz gaming tv, definitely solid choice for the price . I had to turn down the brightness , super vivid .
