    Purchased soon after Best Buy sales release and although a beautiful picture, the OS still had numerous bugs and glitches even after updates that were supposed to correct same. Unwilling to take a chance of future fixes, I returned the TV, deciding to wait for a future purchase with proven improvements.

    Phenomenal picture! Especially for video games, the ps5 and Xbox series x look amazing. Rarely do I have any issues with bugs or glitches , but the few I’ve had have been fixed by a simple tv restart.

    This panel is beautiful—deep blacks are the real winner here. But, unfortunately this is where the impressiveness halts. The Google TV platform and the rest of TCL’s hardware and software are just plain miserable. Absolutely awful. Rounding my third month with the product and I’m ready to rip the TV off the wall and leave it curbside. As simply put as possible, there is a history of known issues with this specific product, and the over the air updates that my product keeps receiving from TCL tend to fix one problem but create one to two more. Bad. I use my product with fifth generation Apple TV, which has normally been a pleasant experience, but the most recent pushed update to the TV has absolutely ruined the experience. Buyer be warned—you might turn on your TV one day and not have your soundbar nor HDR format recognized anymore. Hope that by the time you read this I have a different brand panel on the wall and that future updates have been released to make this product as reliable as it should be for everyone who owns it.

    TV software and processor (Google TV) is total garbage. This is a very buggy product. The TV loses internet (wired or wi-fi) constantly. Apps freeze. TV screen will be dark on start up. The CEC (HDMI control) is terrible with my new Marantz AVR. Giving the TV a two star, because the TV looks great and -- when working -- the picture quality if great.

    Too late to caution anyone, but although I think TCL makes great TVs I would never wish a Google TV on anyone. My first TCL was a Roku TV and I loved it. I am very sorry I bought another not knowing that they had switched to Google TV and how endlessly frustrating it is. I hate Google TV and would never buy another.

    Bought the 55R646 about 10 days ago. Let me get the Picture quality question out of the way first. Great picture quality, it goes tow to toe with Higher end Samsung and Sony TVs. My issues are random crashes, stutter, aspect ratio all jacked up, some apps refuses to work for example VUDU. I have called TCL support couple of times, and both times we ended up power cycling (hard boot) the TV and even did a full factory reset. And Nope that did not solve any issues. Also these are not just one time issues, it’s like a normal thing for this TV, every time you turn it on to watch some thing. These bugs and crashes just ruined the whole experience of a TV with great picture quality. It seriously feels like I am beta testing it.

    Amazing contrast and clarity for a budget TV

    I was very surprised by the price: performance ratio for this TV. Took a fair amount of time to get the calibrations right, but once you do, you are rewarded with one of the crispest pictures of any TV, much less at this price point. The menus can be a bit confusing (the user interface could be simplified), but after watching some videos and some trial and error, I am very pleased. Still trying to dial in flesh tones, as I haven't gotten those perfect just yet but everything else is just where I want it. Adding a Sonos soundbar and my Apple TV 4K was easy and intuitive (as Apple and Sonos are thankfully obsessed with user interface and consumer experience). I was able to purchase this set on sale, so even more pleased with my purchase.

    Great TV for the price. Immaculate screen quality but there is some flickering, but only really noticeable on super bright pictures. Even then, it's still worth it for the price you pay for the TV.

    Pros: Great picture Cons: The OS/Software - When casting from my phone, occasionally, right when I start casting, the volume will randomly jump to 100. Not cool at midnight with sleeping kids. - The option to wake the display when casting has been turned on. It rarely works. Most of the time the TV doesn't even show up on the list of devices to cast to. - I am unable to play anything on VUDU. I just get a playback error both through the app UI and when attempting to cast from my phone. - I've been unable to cast from my phone several times, on several different apps, when the tv is already on. The tv shows up on devices I can cast to, but when I attempt to cast, nothing happens. I have to restart the display or unplug it and plug back in to get it to work. - I am unable to connect my Sony bluetooth headphones even though I've successfully connected them to another TCL tv. This TV needs a firmware update. Until then, it will remain rarely used. I'm considering a return at this point.

    Our favorite TV in the house. We have two high end Sony TV's as well, and they are great, but this TV is so bright and clear, it's impressive. For the price, you can't beat it!!

    TV has good sound and great picture. Everything is great except for the Google TV. It hangs up and sporadically takes a very long time to start. Hopefully TCL will rectify all the issues with updates. Paid a little more than i wanted for this TV and am a bit disappointed. Would not recommend this until all the issues with Google TV are fixed.

    The only thing bad about it is that it constantly notifies you what mode it is in when you switch from game to movie etc.

    6 series is worth the extra money

    I highly recommend this 6 series TCL - especially the Google version. I have read almost all of the reviews and some people were having issues however, I am not having the same problems as if this has been resolved through an OS update. I have a Sony google TV as well, and I was pleasantly surprised that this TV synced up with the others, and actually has a better picture. The QLED does make a difference- running on the 120 Hz seems to be better, but I’m sure it’s just the processor running more smoothly. Even though I am giving it five stars across-the-board, I have not tested the sound because I have it connected to a sound bar.

    Did a lot of research before purchasing this TV. I was upset to see that I had a 17 month old TV brand new out of the box and then the glitches are still not properly fixed navigating through menus seems to be difficult for the kids other than that decent TV I guess for the money

    Hdmi 2.1 and I don’t believe there’s much else to say other than this TV rocks so much that I bought another one. Get that 120 frames per second in smash out your favorite games or watch your shows in the best quality. Bravo!
