Great tv for gaming! OS sometimes lags or freezes but picture quality and gaming at 4k 120hz works great!!

Its amazing. Im coming from and lg un7000 4k 55 inch with "web os". The Tcl 646 is flat out amazing. The picture is amazing. The speakers really are amazing for tv speakers. I thought the lg had pretty good speakers but the tcl on the dynamic sound mode is so good. Google TV rules. Coming from web os its heaven. Its so much more responsive and enjoyable to navigate. You have all your streaming service actual movies and shows available from one screen. Youtube as well. No clicking the app and choosing account. I love the remote. Its perfect size and has a great weight to it. The volume and mute buttons are on the side like a phone but larger buttons. Its easy to switch sound and picture modes. Pressing the buttons is satisfying. Mechanical keyboard esque. Great remote reception as well. I can't recommend this tv enough. It was $400 when I bought it but has already gone up to $430. Also this is a generation or 2 old and is actually superior to the newer models. Get it while its around. Its a much heavier then the lg 55 inch as well. I like the metal frame.

Had the tv for 4 days and no complaints so far. Set up was smooth. Settings are straightforward. Nice picture and sound. Would purchase again.

This tv performs way above it's price. Or the the other tvs perform below, not sure yet lol. It covers all the HDR formats and can output Dolby atmos. Also has 2 HDMI ports for the gamers. The local dimming works great. Very little blooming and when it is there it's not very noticeable. Black levels are great for an lcd. Not OLED level but I would say 80% there. Have not used it for gaming so can't comment there. The color is great but does need some calibrating out of the box. The motion is good but is just average I would say. Not Sony or LG level but waaay better than Hisense and it upscales better so it also cleans up lower quality video better. .Really the only downside has been the interface. The Google OS is buggy with this tv and doesn't hold the settings and loses wifi all thee time and needs to be restarted. There was an update a week ago and has been better since then but have not used it a ton. Will update in the future on that. If that's a big worry an external streaming stick like Chromecast or fire stick will solve that. Overall well worth the money!

The TV worked great for few months and stopped turning on all of a sudden one day. I had it connected to surge protected outlet. I did some troubleshooting and suspected the power board had gone bad. I found the board online and replaced it myself and the TV is working great again. Best buy would have charged more than $200 just to troubleshoot. The OS used to be quite laggy at beginning but I guess subsequent software updates has solved the lag problem now.

Unfortunately, this is not available in my area, need to pick it up 32miles from my nearest Best Buy Store. Anything else, this is great Google TV in a lower price and we are happy on that.

Bought in Dec 2023. Reviews about all the bugs were a bit scary, but no problem this far. Should mention that the initial R646 I bought was a dud out of the box and was returned/exchanged for current TV. Picture is great and PS5 games play flawlessly and look awesome

I went in for a budget/ mid range TV and I'm happy the one I wanted was not in stock. The Best Buy employee told me she had one left of this model and it checked off all the things I was looking for. Having not researched the model, I was skeptical, but the rep. seemed very knowledgeable so I trusted her (that was hardest part for me). A quick online search later and I was sold. I'm glad I went with her recommendation. I have not experienced any glitching, delays or any other issues. The picture quality is great and with the different picture modes you can easily select an option that works for whatever you're watching. Been playing games online with no lag or at least none that I can pick up on. The sound quality is good by itself. I added a soundbar + a subwoofer and the setup process was a breeze. I have seen reviews online with some people using these as computer monitors and I can see why. I've had this TV since Black Friday (almost a month) and so far so good. If you're the average user, you will fall in love with this TV. Even for the more technical people this is a great option if you're not looking to spend a boat load for the newest tech/ fad. I can't recommend this TV enough. I'm really happy with my purchase.

Tv looks great, mini led looks awesome. While it might not be an OLED its very close and for the price its a no brainer. Google TV runs great, just wish the remote had a dedicated input button. Have to do some menuing to adjust the input, but it auto switches based on if it’s reciving signal so its not that bad.

I did a fair bit of research prior to purchasing this TV and determined that the price point vs capability had this TV at the sweetspot. The Other TV's on my list included the Samsung Q90A, TCL 635, Sony A85J and the Hisense U8G. The 646 had the 120Hz refresh rates, high light levels to counter act the windows in the room, game mode and the E-ARC controls I needed for my sound bar system. I went through an initial calibration and setup as well as some test calibration videos utilizing animation and live video. This TV has enough levels of adjustment to compete with higher end models, but still maintain the mid range pricing. The local dimming is outstanding, although the black levels aren't quite up to my Kuro standards, they are great for the price paid. The only real competitor in the group is the U8G with better dimming and reflection resistance, but the 646 has better picture, response and get's a bit brighter. The limited viewing angle is to be expected with the panel type, but overall acceptable. If you don't want to spend a mint, but you want a TV that performs like you spent 50% more than you did, get the TCLR646.

Gave thus 4 stars because we are not thrilled with the google set up and the inability to use any of our IOS devices with it. We have an older Vizeo and their home page seems much more user friendly, but maybe we are just used to it. For some reason, this TV has a habit of reverting back to the TV home page IF we use the TV remote to shut off the TV vs our cable remote. Drives my husband crazy because he keeps forgetting to use the cable remote and cannot figure out how to get back to the home screen l. Have had this for 5 months and I still find no simple way to get back to the TV screen. Pain in the rear as the only way Ive found to date, is to find the HDMI box, hit it and viola. Unfortunately, getting to the HDMI box isn't easy for non tech folks, and hubby has actually had to wait for me to return home to get TV. Its his own fault as he refuses to learn how to find the HDMI setting, but yet you have to wonder why they didn't create a simpler way in the first place. Again , a super picture, easy set up, and for the most part, a great birthday gift for him. Oh and we have zero problem with the sound amd find no meed for a sound bar.

It's the ease to go with a great picture that makes this TV a great addition to our household. My wife continually claims she's remote-challenged, but she can't with this TV. Ther remote doesn't have many buttons precisely because it doesn't need them. The TV does most of the work. Now I quietly go into the TV room and watch my wife without her knowing as she surfs the various platforms AND local cable.

Great picture, great size, great refresh rate, but what isn't great, its a Smart TV. I don't know why but apparently any TV of decent quality is a smart TV. Smart TVs are dumb for most people, they're useless. They're an annoying buggy slow and bloated interface. I have an Xbox I don't need these smart functions, but they're forced down my throat anyway. Screw Google TV, it's the worse and I pray for the end of smart TVs as the default. They're great for a select few but most of us just want a dumb TV that will quickly head to HDMI 1 or 2 so we can use our consoles.

Wanted TV for 120hz for Xbox and Playstation. It is smooth. Sometimes the Google TV can be flaky and the performance is not great. I just use Roku TV to fill this void.

I was worried at first because I read about the TCL screen quality issues. But this one had no problem at all. The picture quality looks very nice. I mainly use it for gaming with my ps5 and some streaming. The google tv interface is also very streamlined unlike the webOS from LG. I'm very satisfied with this tv.

Excellent picture. Colors and blacks are deep with blinding brights for HDR content. Sound is the best I've heard on a mid level set: crisp highs and even good lows. It had really bright reds but that was solved by dropping down the backlight and adjusting based on the rtings recommendations. Only downsides are in the user interface. Google tv has issues with Sling TV and it freezes almost every first launch and deep links for live channels never work. Also, picture and sound settings are deep in the settings menu which makes it painful to adjust. Probably switch back to my Firestick unless they address through an update. If they fix the Google TV issues it would be 5 stars.

Tv is great bought it for my ps5 and still hold up with the pro picture is great awesome choice for a gamer
