Great Entry Level Sound Bar
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TCL is a great entry-level sound bar and a good deal for those looking for a less expensive alternative. Here are my thoughts after a few months: What is great: Bluetooth with mobile devices. It is easy to connect to your phone automatically once paired for the first time. Streams sound very nicely. Integration with TCL tv over hdmi arc. This feature works great. Nice to use a single remote to control tv and sound. Wireless subwoofer hits nice and connects by itself to the sound bar once plugged in. Easy to hang with integrated brackets. Considerations: If only using to stream music over Bluetooth, you need to power on with the included remote control or hit power on top of the sound bar. Not a huge issue, but can be annoying if the bar is hanging up out of reach. So you still need to keep a second remote around. When using the sound bar with tcl tv, seems like I need to turn up the volume pretty high to hear everything well. Again, this is not an issue when streaming music over Bluetooth. Maybe it is a setting issue I need to look at. Overall I have had a positive experience So far and am glad I purchased this sound bar to accompany my TCL 40” tv.

Easy to set up.sy to set up
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this to go with my TCL 6 series TV. It has to be the easiest thing to set up that I have seen in a while. Very intuitive to use and the sound is way better than what comes with the TV. The biggest surprise I had was that you have to really crank the volume to a high level before it will blast you out of the room. even then the sound appears clear and the bass was unexpectedly deep.

TCL Alto 9030 does not disappoint
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Matched to my TCL TV, was easy to set up, Read some great reviews from Europe where it was launched earlier and it has not disappointed. Sound is excellent, particularly the dialogue from the center speaker when watching a movie. Great value for money compared to more expensive setups.

Pretty good sound. When it works.
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this set for about 2 years. And for most of that, I absolutely loved it. More recently though it has started getting weird behaviors. It will shut off on its own after about 15 or 20 minutes if no audio is playing, which renders the connected AppleTV useless because it disconnects it from the actual TV. It seems to no longer stay connected to internet in standby mode as it was when I first got it, so I can’t select it for airplay at any time without going in and fiddling with it and usually encountering all of the following issues. When I am turning up the volume for fitness videos with music, or any type of sound, at about level 60 the sound starts to pop and the speaker shuts off, again disconnecting the Apple TV, and everything has to be restarted to function again. Most times when I pick up a remote to try to turn the volume up, the sound bar doesn’t respond. No buttons on any remote, including its own, illicit a response. Even walking up and pressing the physical touch buttons the lights just flash, nothing responds and the whole thing has to be unplugged to restart. This has happened for a few months now so often that it makes me want to start breaking things lol. I’ve tried any troubleshooting I can find. On a side note TCL support is basically rubbish. They will just guide you through the extremely basic troubleshooting available on their website.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear about your experience as this definitely does not sound normal for one of our soundbars. Our soundbars are carefully designed and engineered to give our customers years of entertainment. Our soundbars do come with a 1-year parts and labor manufacturer's warranty for those rare times that defects occur. In cases like this, if you purchased an extended warranty, you may want to reach out to see if you can file a warranty claim through the extended warranty company. Furthermore, if you purchased using a credit card, some credit card companies also provide additional coverage. We will continue to make improvements to ensure our customers the best experience possible.

Don't bother buying the extended warranty
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am writing this not to complain about the soundbar because the soundbar was actually very good until it quit working. I purchased a 5-year extended warranty plan when I purchased the TV and soundbar, but apparently the only thing that is covered under the warranty is the TV. Very frustrating.....

Atmos Characteristics at Affordable Price
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was not expecting much from this soundbar, but it had Atmos and some impressive acoustics technology, so I decided to give it a try. I was worried that it would be the same old, ’you get what you pay for’ deal. I was wrong - this soundbar is fantastic for the price. Is it true, Atmos, no. Does it claim to be, no. It presents you with Atmos characteristics that are challenging to beat at this price point. If you are looking for an audiophile soundbar, this is not it - but if you want an excellent sound that won't break the bank, we have a winner! It is not all great, and one issue that I hope TCL corrects is that when you turn the soundbar off or it enters ’sleep,’ the next time it turns on, you have to toggle Surround Sound to get the full effect. It does not seem to be hardware related, so that it would be an easy firmware update. Overall excellent job, TCL!

Great value, great sound.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for the money, only annoying thing is it randomly turns it's self off, I have it connected to a 2018 tcl 4k tv via hdmi. It sounds pretty dam good, I have an expensive dedicated stereo system and there isn't thousands of dollars difference between the two. I love being able to watch dolby atmos movies or tv shows. Makes a big difference. Definitely a recommended buy.

My two cents.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm no expert but I thought it sounded fine, easy set up, the only reason I returned it was because the tv setting on the soundbar sounded like a transistor radio, but I may have gotten a faulty unit. I'm thinking this Atmos trail is going to end up costing me as much or more than the darn tv, boy, this soundbar thing is sure a rabbit hole, albeit a kinda fun one to get lost in.

Great sound and price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wasn’t planning on buying another sound bar since I already own a TCL Alto 7, but.... we had the kids over for dinner and playing corn hole this summer and someone put the 7 on the still hot meat smoker to listen to music while we played outside. It started smelling and burning the front and base. Funny thing is that it still works and sounds great for both outside and with my TCL tv inside. But since I could make an excuse for getting a new sound bar (since my old one was marred a bit, I started looking on YouTube for a new sound bar plus I could keep my old one outside(not on the smoker). I am also happy with my TCL Roku 4 TV so I decided on the TCLAlto 9+ From the reviews and the great price. I’m so happy that I did. The sound is incredible in my family room with vaulted ceilings. I had to try it out Old School and played Top Gun through it. The sound is amazing. I couldn’t be happier with my decision especially with the low price tag of only $299.

Absolutely IMPRESSED!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.IMPRESSED! I have been wanting an Atmos system to replace my Bose (replaced twice) and found this NEW TCL 3.1 Atmos Soundbar with Sub which seemed like a great value, so decided to give it a try. I am so happy I took the chance. I already own a TCL 8 Series 4K Roku TV and was hopeful it would pair nicely. The setup was easy and the sound is AWESOME! The audio in Mulan made us feel like we were in the movie the bass from the sub was easily adjustable and I loved that I could use one remote. This was a great purchase decision.

Sounds good but...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most of the time the sound is excellent and does exactly what a 3.1 system was designed to do, but there are two disappointing issues. 1. The sound is not always in sync. This is especially noticeable during live tv. 2. Without a standard number for the TCL brand , I am unable to add this product to my regular remote (now I need to search for two remotes)

Very strange
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this soundbar now that it's working, but strange things have happened: 1) The box as I picked it up at the store was obviously re-taped. But everything was in it. 2) Instructions say to scan the code on the package to register it. I did, and got a 404 page not found at TCL. 3) Plugged in the HDMI cable as instructed into the TCL TV, but when I went to set it up the TV said "unit not found, turn it on." It was turned on and the connections were correct. 4) Sound was thin and disappointing regardless of what settings I used, until I installed Google Home on my Apple iPhone, then the sound got louder and fuller. Curiouser and curiouser. I suspect I may have gotten an older repackaged floor demo. Model # TS9030, Serial #TRS2034011331

Great Idea - Minor problems drive major frustratio
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I'm not going to lie.. I really want to like this sound bar. This is in my family room/kitchen open concept space, and I didn't want tons of speakers everywhere. That being said, we watch TV every day in this room, so I wanted it to be "good enough". I'm a big believer in the TCL technology concept - it's not going to be the best money can buy, but it tries to be the best you can buy for the money. That's totally my speed, and I love my 65R635 TV. My thought was that I could get that level of goodness and simplicity adding the sound bar. My requirements: simple controls and TV integration, single remote capability, enough sound to fill the room, and the ability to hear dialogue on TV. The positive here is the integration with the TV is pretty good - while watching a show/app on the RokuTV, I can real time change the sound settings on the soundbar via the Screen interface (* option menu). This seems to work well. The downside is that the TV won't show the soundbar's firmware revision or allow me to update it... More on this later. Additionally, the virtualized vertical and surround stages are pretty good. This is a 3.1 speaker, so it's NOT a 7.2 speaker setup, not by a long shot. It doesn't try to be, and you don't pay for it. I think listening to an action movie with the sound cranked up that has Atmos support (Think Marvel on Disney+) works pretty dang well for what this thing is. So why 3 stars... And understand, I'm not rating this 3 stars because it doesn't perform like a 1200 dollar speaker system. I have some big frustrations. 1) At low volumes, the sound is not full. Its washed out, and the background noises and things process incorrectly with the main channel. I'm CONSTANTLY messing with the volume to feel like I'm hearing what I'm supposed to hear. When you turn it up its fine, but you dont always want the thing screaming. 2) The lack of sub control is frustrating. When I'm messing with the volume above, sometimes the Sub is crazy boomy. Most soundbars in this range offer sub leveling... 3) That is, when the sub is connected. In this price range, I would expect a solid wireless sub connection, and I feel like the sub is constantly cutting out. I'm going to try to move it, but it's literally 8 feet away from the soundbar. Ugh. 4) Firmware updates simply don't work. The instructions to connect the sound bar to Wifi dont work. (I called TCL and reset the stupid thing 5 times. It wont connect). I was able to connect it to WiFi via Apple's interface eventually, but the bar wont do an OTA firmware update, and there is NO manual way to do that. Additionally, the TV wont recognize the firmware version OR do an update, which is counter intuitive. I'm concerned I have an un-updatable soundbar, even if they could fix some of the above with software (Which they could totally do). Needless to say, the little things have taken what is a perfect casual listening soundbar option down to the point of being frustrating. Couple that with Best Buy's 2 week return policy I didnt even have time to come to this conclusion in time to really do anything about it. I guess I'll suffer through it until I'm ready to spend cash again to do something about it.

TCL 9+ Pretty good so far with some faults
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this sound bar to replace a really decent Sony- 100 that i had for 11 years. Figured it was time for an upgrade to say the least. The bar set up quickly with TCL 5 series TV and really sounds great. Crisp treble, clear voice and adequate base. Certainly loud enough. The surround effect is a bit wider than the Sony had but if you listen closely you can sense the spread. While playing music and a movie, for kicks and giggles standing 2-3 feet away- my god you can really feel the immersion as sounds come from the left right and behind. Connected to Chromecast and phone via bluetooth worked fine. CEC connection allows most operation with Roku TV remote. Nice. Movie sound field is best but I found using Music is truly better for music listening as it sounds clearer and wider Four stars because: As many have said, documentation provided and manual on is really poor and lacking info such as proper HDMI and Dolby sound choice, Connection with sub woofer at outset was problematic. Took several attempts with manual hookup and somehow managed to get it. TV setting and boost sound field awful. Really annoying that the bar forgets prior setting upon re starting and YOU NEED TO SET MOVIE AND SURROUND EACH TIME! Pretty simple fix- hopefully there will be an update Sooo I would recommend getting this at $249 or below. Wait for a sale
