I previously had the tcl 8.1.2 Returned that for this one. Big difference in bass. The sound although virtualized sounds impressive. This is a great soundbar that sounds good. Very impressed. Had for a couple of months no problems yet . . .

A fantastic sound quality. This sound bar pairs nicely with my TCL smart television and can also be paired with other devices like a smart phone. The sound is very rich and the bass is nice.

Got this soundbar for my Birthday. Love the sound, but set up took some work. In order to hook the WiFi to you network you have to go to TCL’s support page and hunt it down. Not in the paperwork you get with the soundbar. Once you get it hooked to your WiFi, it updates and runs. The voice delay with my Samsung. TV took some work too. Good value for the price.

I bought this the first day it was available needed to update my old one was over 10 yrs old if you are needing a great sound for watching your movies in your living room you won't be disappointed with the dolby atmos great base from the sub woofer hooking your 4k player to the sound is the best way to receive the best sound from the sound bar if you have a newer samsung 4k tv it will recognize it but you want to go into settings on the TV check sound output then go to source menu and edit the name of the source thats in the settings mine is Receiver (HDMI) then when you're ready to watch a movie go into source click it on

Good speaker set up, just wish it worked with voice command to set up and that I didn’t have to click connect on setting Bluetooth each time I turn it on. I wish it would just remember my paired phone. Overall great value though and works well with my TCL tv for movies and games.

I wanted something simple, but with good sound for my wall mounted TV, but without all the wires of a full-blown system. Wow was this easy to set up! Literally 2 minutes from unboxing (Great packing too!) to listening. Nice wide sound sage. I knew I wanted a sound bar with a center channel to get clear voices, and this delivers. I love how all the controls for the sound bar get populated into my TCL TVs menu system. One less remote to work with. The sub really does the trick and punches (no pun intended) above it’s class. For under $300, it’s a keeper!

Pretty decent sound at an affordable price. One drawback is, when powered on, it always turns on in Arc input & my TV runs through input 1. It should either have a setting to come on in previous mode or be selectable. Other then that, syncs to TV quickly & set up is quite easy.

First, since the CES announcement in January 2020, I have been waiting for this to be released for US sale. I was happy it was finally available, so I purchased it and eagerly awaited getting decent atmos sound in an easy to use package that works easily with my TV. I have a 6 series TCL TV, I expected a pretty seamless experience, that is NOT what I got. The only way to reliably have the alto speakbar turn off and on with the TV is to do the following: 1. Enable fast startup on the TV, enabled CEC and all the normal stuff. 2. Turn the TV on 3. Unplug the power from the sound bar, then connect to HDMI port, then plug power back in to the sound bar 4. wait for the sound bar to boot, which is not quick. Now CEC signals should work (98% of the time) and turn the sound bar on and off with the TV... but if you get an update on the TV or reboot the TV, you'll need to start over and play with things, again. If you do not then the soundbar will turn off with the TV, but will not turn on. You can manually turn it on with the power button or using the remote it came with, but now all of your sound will be locked to PCM audio only until you unplug the stupid thing (alto speakerbar) from the wall and plug it in again. Wifi connections is another thing, it took me a while to get it to connect, I was forced to default the wifi on the sound bar (that I had not configured yet) and then connect my computer to the SSID it made and go to the IP of it in a browser and then give it the SSID settings for my network via the web interface. There are no instructions for this anywhere, I just had to figure it out. Once I did this, then it started showing up in the google home app as the instructions state it would... but not before. Chromecast audio was reliable after this. So, the sounds quality is pretty good on this soundbar, if set to Movie or Boost... but not TV mode. TV Mode is very tinny. Every single time you power off/on your TV, this thing goes back to TV mode, so expect to keep switching every single time. Once I got it on wifi, I had high hopes a software update would solve my issues... but I was let down. There was a software update, but it changed no behavior that I could see. Overall I am not impressed. I'm not looking for a device I have to screw with to make do what it's supposed to do. I'm plan on returning the soundbar.

Purchased this, but will be returning. Have a TCL 8 Series 65" 2020 Edition TV. As others have reported there is an issue with Audio Sync while using the sound bar via HDMI. Unfortunately this is quite noticeable on certain video that contains Atmos Audio. When switching to the Optical connection, that improves, but not by enough to warrant keeping the unit. Audio seems clear, but lacks depth that larger speakers would provide. The wide audio simulates a theater experience decently, but lacks true 5.1 capabilities in some movies. If you are looking for a Home theater system that gives the true movie experience, look elsewhere. If you are looking for something that will give you a boost over the built in system audio, this does a decent job.

Good sound for the brand and price was right. Purchased this to match brand of TV. It’s no home stereo system but gets The job done. Would prefer that we didn’t hVe to use a separate remote for this and the TV beings they are the same brand

It works pretty well. It sounds great for the most part. I’m not an audio engineer but there is a distinct difference between this and my other sound bars. I personally like the other one better but they are close.

Decent sound bar with above average sound and really good Atmos integration. Where it looses its luster is its horrible user interface and set-up if you don't haver a Roku TV pass on this sound bar as its really designed to be used with a Roku TV I would skip it and get something else.

I’m a person that loves great sound. A lot of soundbars are good but this TCL is pretty impressive. Dedicated center speaker, sleek design and the bass definitely hits. What’s nice about it is that is has different options of what kind of sound you want to hear. Movie, TV, Music etc. you can turn the bass up and you can choose to put surround sound on or off. If you don’t know soundbars I recommend you put the Sub behind you or on the side so you can feel it. I match it up with my 65” TCL. Not biased towards one brand because I love Sony but for the Money this is a good buy and you will love the sound.

So I started off loving this thing. It sounds great, has a wide soundstage and gives crisp clear vocals but none of that matters because of the lag! The audio delay is so intense and lags behind the video by a whole second causing duologue to not match up with lips. For gaming it's even worse. In any kind of fast paced game like call of duty/battlefield the audio of a gunshot comes a while second after you pull the trigger. For story based games this would probably be less pronounced but noticable none the less. I ended up returning this and getting the Alto 8+ 2.1.2 and it has completely solved all of these issues while still sounding great if not better.
