Good remote - easy to setup & has backlight
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall this is a very good, easy to use remote. I bought this with the purpose of solving my issue of having way too many remotes that I way too often lose or misplace. I hoped having just 1 remote would solve this issue, which it does, sort of. So out of the box you will notice this remote is super light. It barely weighs anything. Less than a pound. That is because this is charged wireless. To me that is a huge pro of this device. With so many things running on rechargeable batteries these days, why has the remote control taken so long to catch up. Buy most new TVs or systems today, and they still require physical AA or AAA batteries. That to me is insane in 2023. So this remote having these feature is good news. Obviously I'm not sure how long a charge lasts, and having it run out mid use and not being able to control your devices could be a potential issue, but it gives you fair warning in advance when the battery is almost depleted. Make sure you plug it in to charge that night before going to sleep. The main feature of this device, and why you would want to buy this, is to be able to control all your devices. This was hit or miss for me. The instruction manual is very simple and easy to follow, and comes with a code list that covers just about every brand and type of device. It also comes with dedicated Netflix and Disney+ keys, plus 2 additional keys you can map to other streaming services. That's in addition to the 4 customizable keys at the top of the device labeled "TV, Satellite/Cable, Stream, DVD/Blu-ray". I was looking to program 3 devices, my TV, 4K player, and Roku remote. I was successful with 2 which is why I took off a star. The TV, and insignia brand, had a code in the booklet. You have to power off the device you are looking to program, turn it on, and while its booting up hold the device on this Terk remote till it flashes, then enter the code from the booklet. Easy. First try with the TV and it worked immediately. 4K player was a Sony. Same thing, turn off, turn on, hold the button on the remote, enter the code. Worked again. The issue came with the Roku remote. It's an older Roku that is plugged into the TV using the HDMI cable port, but it is powered by the USB cable directly into the TV. Some Rokus you can choose to power using the USB like mine, or alternatively use the plug to plug in. Mine since its powered using USB, when you turn on the TV it automatically turns on the Roku. In this case, I'm assuming this is why I could not get the Terk remote to work because I technically couldn't turn "off" the roku. I turned off the TV, waited a few minutes, turned it back on, held the "stream" button, and tried all the codes in the book. None of them worked. So that's a bit of a let down since my Roku remote is probably the biggest thing I actually use these days. If I had the Roku powered via it's own plug, and I could unplug that to plug back in and try setup that way, it would work I think. You may ask why I didn't just do that, and that's because the TV itself is wall mounted and the Roku receiver, as well as the HDMI and USB cords to it, or plugged in BEHIND the TV, and I cannot access those ports easily without taking the TV off the wall. Not doing that. So overall 2/3 devices did sync effortlessly. I will continue to trouble shoot getting the Roku connected. I would like to get them all connected. Overall its a great device, very lightweight, and the backlit button to use in the dark is very useful.

Best Buy, Vet your products!
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Buy should field test their product. This remote was a piece of garbage. The charge did not last and uses a USB charger. The unit is a pain to use with multiple components. Definitely not viable for a senior citizen. There are two in the trash at Clarendale Arcadia, Phoenix if anyone wants to test the product.

Not worth it
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried for several weeks to hook this up to only two units and was never completely successful. Tried using all three options on the instructions. While it was able to hook to the LG tv it never would work on any of the extended options. In this age of smart electronics I don’t understand why I have to enter digits or wait for the unit to turn on and off

Great for older TVs
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.PROS: - Easy to pair - Rechargeable battery - Light weight - Pairs to multiple devices CONS: - Glossy plastic collects prints and smudges - Not great for smart TVs The included guide is super helpful and includes the codes for almost all TVs and devices that you would want to pair this remote to. I was able to pair my TV and Roku right away with the first attempt. I love that the battery is built-in and uses a USB-C port for charging. No more wasting AA batteries and I can use the same charging cable that I use for my phone. This is a feature that I wish ALL other manufacturers would use! What I don't love is how this remote works with my newer smart TV. I can pair the remote without any issues, but I can't seem to access all the TV apps with it. This might just be limited to my specific TV model, but I can't test that theory since I only have one smart TV. Thankfully, my older "dumb" TV is probably the ideal candidate for this remote: the original remote has seen better days and I need to use a 2nd remote for my Roku that's connected to the TV. With this TERK remote, I can now use ONE remote to control both devices. If you're looking to reduce the number of remotes you use, especially with older devices, this is a good option to consider.

Great Little Remote
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TERK - Rechargeable Four-Device Backlit Universal Remote is an excellent choice for those in need. And I am one of those who has a need, so this worked out very well. In my bedroom, I have a 55" LG television, a Definitive Technology 4.1-Channel Studio 3D Mini Soundbar, a Sony - UBP-X700/M Streaming 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player and a cable controll box. While the cable remote can control all of them, it lacks some convenience feature buttons that each device remote offers. This remote offers some great options for those proprietary offerings. Additionally, this remote control offers a backlight option. For me, that is great. I generally find myself watching TV in the dark at night. And while my cable remote is backlit, it's a dull, limited light. This TERK remote is backlit in bright, vibrant colors that while easy to see, is not overbearing. Inside the box you'll find the remote control, a short USB cable charging cable, a quick start guide, a user guide and reference sheet for programming codes. Programing the remote control was simple. I had all four devices going in just a few minutes. Very easy to program and use. In all, this is a great little remote!

Good alternative for an OEM remote replacement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to universal remote controls there’s not much that distinguishes them from each other besides the button layout. Some can be programmed for multiple devices and others could have backlit buttons for night time usage. One distinguishing feature that the Trek universal remote control brings to the table is the ability to charge it via USB C. Controls up to four devices USB Type-C rechargeable battery Quick access keys Dedicated streaming device key Backlit keypad This is a first for me a basic remote control that can be charge. Now when your remote battery gets low you can quickly plug in to your existing phone charger and have a full charged remote under 2hrs. With having an internal battery that has a higher capacity compared to 2x AA or AAA batteries, depending on usage you may just end up needing a charge twice a year. Set up was quick with just holding one of the device buttons down until you get a solid red light. After that you can input the code for your device. If you need some help finding codes for your device, I suggest you Google Terk remote codes and click on the first search result finder title remote code finder. It will ask for the revision number which located behind the remote control. For this mine it was R341U1. After that you can search by manufacturer and type of device like tv, soundbar, etc. There are plenty fo codes provided to try, just in case it doesn’t support all the features of your device. It does mention support for streaming devices like Roku and consoles like the Xbox but this requires your tv to be HDMI CEC capable and the device itself. In other words using the remote control the TV can communicate with the device, so it’s not really the remote control itself controlling it. Signal range was pretty good. I did not encounter any signal issues during my usage. The button layout for the most part is fine. The only exception I had was the cross section. I would of prefer a slightly higher cross section, since I found my constantly pressing the channel or volume button instead when trying to maneuver through a menu. Overall this a great alternative when needing to replace your remote control for your tv or soundbar devices.Besides not having to worry about having extra batteries laying around you get a limited lifetime warranty support. You can find a cheaper alternative but the savings alone from having to buy batteries alone make it worthwhile to spend a little bit more. Need a remote this should an easy decision to make.

Easy To Setup, Works Well, No TV Favorites Button
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a convenient device to replace two or more remotes. I especially like that it's rechargeable instead of using batteries. It comes with a manual, a quick start guide, code tables, and charging cable. Out of the box, it took 98 minutes to fully charge using a generic plugin USB charger, which is not included. Programming the codes was straightforward and easy. There's a string of codes listed for every device type by brand, and the first or second code I tried worked for each of my devices, a DVD player, TV, and a streaming device. The codes are listed in order of highest to lowest probability of working, so always start with the first code of your brand's list. This remote was fully functional for my streaming device, and fully functional for my DVD except that it does not have a disc tray open/close button, which is really not important since you're going to be at the player to remove or insert a disc anyway. For my TV, however, there's three buttons on my original TV remote that are on not this remote. One is a Favorites button that shows a list of favorite stations for quick access. I watch digital over the air TV, and If you're not familiar with digital over the air stations there's dozens of them, all the national networks, public television, and independents. I get over 50 of them, so it can be tedious using the channel up/down or punching in numbers. That's why a Favorites button is so useful and why I think should have been included. Another missing button that I use frequently is Return To Previous Station, and the other is a Decimal Point button needed for tuning to a specific digital over the air station. The Decimal Point isn't too big of a deal because after tuning to the whole number station the channel up/down can be used to get to the specific digital station. Overall I like this remote for it's convenience but not having a TV favorites button is a negative for me. If that wouldn't be an issue for you then I give it a thumbs up.
