Excellent concept double cd set with exceptional musicianship

Dream Theater continues to put out great progressive music.

The idea of Dream Theater doing a concept album is great. However, the result was a softer album. Their previous work is much better.

Dream Theater has great musicians and usually offers solid songs, but this album is just boring. Almost comes across as goofy, too much of a fantasy story with odd storytelling. Some of the songs are ok musically but the overall vibe of the album was drawn out, somewhat repetitive and mostly boring. The only reason is doesn't score a poor rating is due to the quality musicians that shine once in a great while on this disc.

Another double album from Dream Theater, and they deliver!

I love John Petrucci's playing. This CD is excellent.

CD is great, but it could have been mixed a little better which is why I gave it 4 stars. Imaginative/creative story from John Petrucci comes alive w/Jordan's incredible keys, John/Mike's "second to none" rhythm section, and James flexible & character laden singing. Props given to James for he really outdid himself singing the different characters on this release. Cannot wait to see this live soon! BUY IT!

These CDs are very mellow and musically repetitive. Not in the same class as many other DT offerings.

Again Dream Theater puts out another quality album. Every song is carefully crafted to the finest detail. "The Astonishing" is more than just an album but an experience. My only complaint it that it is sometimes over the top. too music orchestration. Sometimes it sounds more like a musical than a rock album. But overall still a great album.

As a long time fan this was pretty much what I expected from dream theater

Was expecting another Metropolis pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory. Nope.

Was looking forward to this album but I was somewhat disappointed.

Worked fine, pretty simple it is only a USB drive, no big deal

It's difficult to take it all in, in one listen due to the 2 hour and 13 minute long length of this masterpiece, but it's worth every minute! Lots of incredible music surprises and stylistic changes will keep you engaged throughout this whole album. I would have to say that the track "Three Days" is my favorite, but there are many amazing songs that stand out. "Lord Nafaryus", "The Answer", "Ravenskill", "Chosen" and definitely "A Tempting Offer" all stand incredibly on their own.
