This is no japanese role-playing game! The plot is sparse, but wonderfully voice-acted and the facial motions are great. The extra content, side-quests and styles, are usually easy to find but there is so much you can easily miss some great things. This bevy of content can be a bit overwhelming, so take your time and enjoy yourself. There are different ways of playing, you can shoot arrows, cast spells, bash with axes, slice with swords or stealth-kill with daggers, and don't get me started on enchanted, magic, or poisonous weapons. The scenery is beautiful and the people are just as varied as the rest of the game's content with different races, classes, and dispositions varying on what decisions you make. The shivering isles expansion is expansion adds many ingredients, potions, poisons, spells, weapons, people, and enemies. All mix well into the rest of the world, and what a world! The isles themselves are two distinct halves one a dark brooding swamp the other a vibrant forest, both wonderfully created and a joy to just walk around in. If you like role-playing and don't mind getting a massive amount for your money, this will cast quite a powerful enchantment spell on you, just don't forget to get some exercise.

Best Open World Rpg for its Time

The reason I say that this game is better than Skyrim is because I honestly enjoyed this game WAY MORE than I did Skyrim. Yes the Xbox 360 had just come out and this was a game that had never been made before. It's gameplay and graphics were beyond anything we've seen, and the story was compelling and believable, unlike Skyrim. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Skyrim, but here is why this game trumps Skyrim: 1)Difficulty- This game's difficulty when played on normal is extremely more difficult than Skyrim. Yes, since the monsters' strength kept increasing when you leveled force me to stop leveling at a point, I did so for 2 reasons. I leveled to the point where the monsters were really hard. I also leveled myself to a point where I didn't get mad because the monsters were near impossible to kill, especially the weakest ones. Skyrim on the other hand, got way too easy after I leveled up the weapons and armor. No challenge at all and the gameplay and fulfillment from playing the game diminished. 2) Story- Although the dragons is Skyrim was interesting, I was never fully into the storyline. Add that to the lack of difficulty and I never thought the "World" was in danger. Oblivion, however, had a great storyline and difficulty to it and made it feel believable and that you were the one true savor. 3) Ending- Oblivion's ending was dramatic and amazing. Very difficult and very over the top in a good one. Skyrim- Very disappointing and too easy. When it ended, I was like, "Seriously?!" It's the same feeling that you get when you watch a movie and it ends too early or Mass Effect 3 (if you know what I mean). This game has replay value unlike Skyrim. I'm not sure how it holds up now to other games, but I gaurantee there's better games out there than Skyrim, and one of them is Oblivion.
