I know this album was put together with cuts taken from The Division Bell, and it sounds like Pink Floyd; however, very disappointing that is only has one song with vocals out of 17 tracks! The last song has vocals and is awesome -- the album needed 3 or 4 more like it! Come on Nick and Roger -- you have one more left in ya!

Only one song with vocals, was not expecting that. I would not buy this again. Just download the one song from the internet and forget about the other 17

David has been busy writing music. And it's good music. But he needs someone to write lyrics and sing. Would have been so much better with Roger Waters.

I never expected this kind of cd from Pink Floyd. The cd does not even sound like them. They only sing on one song and the rest is just music. This sounds like elevator music. Loaned it to a friend who is a big Pink Floyd fan and he hated it too.

This album is a collection of music apparently left off of either 'A Momentary Lapse of Reason' and/or 'The Division Bell'. All but one are instrumentals which might cause some to hesitate on getting this album. Many of the pieces here compare well with the instrumentals on the other albums but, quite honestly, some may feel these are just pieces that 'didn't make the cut'. I prefer to think of them as pieces that, while good, didn't fit into the theme of the above albums. If you like this version of Pink Floyd, you should like this...but you'll have to make the call yourself.

I could hardly wait for the release of the new album to be on sale. Yesterday I had bought it !!! Well, what to say? This album is like a good brandy made in the good old tradition: the more it withstood the stronger, aromatic and delicious it becomes. It was a great pleasure to listen to that! Music is simply mesmerizing its chords. A soul of this group merged in this album for all the years of its existence. Sometimes audible notes of farewell and separation and this is somehow sad that such a rock band will never release any album. I can say only one thing - a beautiful and stunning final album, which is at the level of the previous one. Thank you Pink Floyd for this gift !!!

THE ENDLESS RIVER. This is and will be the final Pink Floyd album. It is based on music recorded by Richard while they were making Division Bell. David and Nick added much material to it, thus turning it into a real group project. (Nick gets his first writing credit since Dark Side.) Out of the 18 songs (21 on the expanded version), there is only one that is not an instrumental. (Two if you count Stephen Hawking's narration on one instrumental.# Louder Than Words was written by David's wife, and is sung by him. The song deals with the alienation among friends. It is a good song. The music can't be described as rock music. It is astral, new age music. #My wife, who is not a Pink Floyd fan, described this as planetarium music.) I generally prefer songs over instrumentals; so initially I liked only Louder Than Words and the last song on the extended version, Nervana. However, on further listening the album has grown on me. It is somewhat dominated by Richard. This album is driven by Richard as it was based on his recordings, mostly from 1994 but some dating back to the 1960s. The instrumentals are at least good, with some of the better ones harking back to Echoes and Shine On You Crazy Diamond. Many of the songs have small cues to previous albums, which is appropriate for the final album. Between the album being almost entirely instrumentals and the good lyrics on the one song, Roger is not missed. It's a very pleasant sounding album, but it's not that memorable. The only great song is Nervana. Nervana is the only rock oriented instrumental, harkening back to Interstellar Overdrive from the very first Pink Floyd album. Unfortunately Nervana is only available on the extended version, which comes with a DVD or Blu-Ray and costs almost twice as much. The other two songs on the extended version are completely forgettable, which makes the one great song very expensive. On the whole Pink Floyd are going out neither on a high note nor a low note.
