Movie looks beautiful in 4k but it was just missing something for me personally.

It was okay but I've seen better movies than this. I should have rented it.

If you like action and scares then this movie will do the trick. my wife is from China and we have visited the great wall all bet the lower smaller version but it was still a fun movie to watch with an interesting but truly a fable approach to its origins. I would recommend this movie.

Critics didn't seem to care for this much, but ignore them. If you like Matt Damon and/or action movies, you're going to like this one. While there's no historical merit to this interpretation of why the great wall of China was built, it's a creative and fun one. I'm also a fan of creature features and this qualifies as one of the better.

We had seen this before and immediately enjoyed it for what it is: a high-budget monster movie, set against a great, period-piece backdrop. So, within that context, I can easily give it 5 stars. Gotta say, I was impressed with Matt Damon's Cornish accent, which he maintained throughout the movie. He made you believe the character. And Willem Defoe was great as always. All the performances were spot-on for their characters and story.

This is a fabulous movie. It shows courage, fearlessness, and the willingness to change for the better as Matt Damon's character showed. I have watched it several times and I never tire of it. The production design is incredible and stunning. The acting is excellent. Your heart goes out to some of the characters who showed a willingness to sacrifice themselves for the welfare of others. The scene dynamics are sometimes breathtaking and have a wow factor.

Wow in 4k hdr great visual effects ! Masterfully done ! Looks like everything is really in the movie. Did need more plot, better story. I don't know why the critics didn't like it ? It is just a story based on folklore, just something to enjoy! If you haven't already you need to upgrade to 4k hdr curved TV and 4k hdr dvd player !

The critics at Rotten Tomatoes didn't particularly like THE GREAT WALL (35%). I just watched it anyway on HBO (2017/11/19). It was a good adventure yarn that begged for 3D but was still enjoyable in 2D. Ordered a 4K version. The extra resolution and HDR color pumped it up one star in my estimation. Well worth watching.

Fun movie. Not much to the storyline. Fun theatrics and acrobatics

If you missed this movie when it came to theaters then DON'T miss an opportunity to buy this on Ultra HD or Blu-ray. Great special effects, fun adventure movie that we've enjoyed many times since buying it. The costumes worn by the different regimens of the Chinese army are really beautiful, not to be missed. It'll really look good on your big screen TV especially UHD. This is a fun family movie with something in it that everyone will enjoy!

I always tend to like movies where someone with a colorful past end up being the hero, and turns good. This is one, and Matt Damon did an excellent job! I think this is the first time I've seen him make a "monster" movie, and was pleasantly surprised. All the acting was good, and the effects were great. Very enjoyable movie.

Great buying experience but the movie was so-so to say the least

The movie itself is totally senseless but entertaining nevertheless. The real reason for buying The Great Wall is that if you have a 4K TV that does HDR, it is absolute eye candy. The image is sharp and dynamic with excellent color saturation. It's an excellent product for showing what you new, expensive 4K set can do.

This movie is on par with the classic eppics of old, in a modern sense. The Chinese actors and directors hit this one "out of the park"! A great legends type movie. I had to watch it a second time as soon as it was over. Great colors, story line and mix of traditional Chinese characters, culture, acting and western characters and acting. All the cast, director and producers deserve a round of applause and should take a bow....well done.

Entertaining movie. Definitely worth the $5 it cost.

I know that this movie got a lot of flak for "reasons", but it really wasn't as bad as everyone said it was. It was an enjoyable popcorn flick. From an AV perspective (on the 4K UHD version), it's phenomenal. HDR really pops the color and contrast out while the audio is thunderous and very surround heavy.

The storyline of this movie is, of course, completely fictional. It actually contradicts to itself and actual Chinese history at a few places. Nevertheless, the performance of the actors and actress were great. In particular the female general speaks English quite well. It is entertaining as a Sci Fi movie.

This. Movie did poorly at the theaters, but I enjoyed it more at home. Some movies are better at home, this is one of them. Fair acting, weak storyline but the sets and costumes as 2nd to none. The creatures were not very believable, but it is what it is. Still, I enjoyed it and plan on watching it again.

The writing is okay and the characters are never fleshed out, but the colors on a 4K/HDR TV will look amazing. I felt it spent too much focus on Matt Damon's character, and wish it spent more time on the warriors, who looked great. If you want an amazing Chinese made film, check out Red Cliff.

The movie was better than I thought it was going to be. Pacing was pretty good for an action flick. I like that it didn't take itself too serious. However, the pic quality was outstanding! A lot of CGI, but it blended well. Picture was sharp and vibrant, and the expanded color gamut was on full blast.
