This is definitely the worse out of the three Hangovers. It's almost like they tried too hard with this one.

Yes, it's funny, but if you're looking for the answer to the original, you might be disappointed.

Sequels serve one of two purposes: to further the narrative or to pull a cash grab on the success of the predecessor. Unfortunately/Obviously, in this case it was the latter. The plot follows the same set up as before: a group of friends convenes for a night out before their good friend's wedding only to find that they've lost one of their own while under the influence. While there are a slew of new jokes and we're now set in Thailand as opposed to Las Vegas, the movie is a rehash of the first. No one truly grew as a character and the sad attempt to have Stu "grow" by tattooing his face and having a tryst with a transsexual is just going over the top for cheap laughs. Is it funny? At times, yes. Can you live your life without having seen it? Most definitely.

The Hangover was funnier, but we wanted to check out the second one. For $3.99, we gave it a try, but I wouldn't recommend the movie.

What a great place to stage a movie! The fact that Stu is getting married, and says he is not having a bachelor party, opened the door for unpredictable fun, laughter, suspense, a wild-goose chase, and some really funny lines and things that happen. Not the same as the first movie, but has mostly the same cast and a realistic ending. My husband, adult kids and I loved this movie and laughed through it all. Action drama too. Alan is still a pain, but funny! The only thing I was upset about was the 2 hours it took to download the digital copy at ultraviolet. I fought with that, am not too happy about what I went through, but am so glad I bought the combo so that I can play it in my computer and have this movie for years to come. It is totally a keeper!! A must own!!! I thought this one was better than the first one, with funnier scenes and more reality as it took place in Thailand and Bangkok. The first movie was great too. We own them both and happy that we do!!

I had no expectations when I went to go see this movie in the theater. It was exactly what I thought it was going to be. They didn't change a thing from the 1st movie yet it worked. It's basically the 1st movie in Thailand, but they're they didn't lose Doug this time. It's funny and that's what it's suppose to be. Mr Chow and Alan make the movie.

Really funny movie! It's like the first one, of course! If you liked the first one, you'll like this one too! As long as you're not expecting something totally different and go into it looking for a good time and a fun movie, I would definitely recommend it!

    Inferior follow-up

They’re all back, they’re in Thailand, and they don’t remember a thing. Again. Ed Helms, Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Justin Bartha all return in this sequel to the wildly successful 2009 comedy. This time it’s Stu (Helms) who is about to be married and his friends are in Thailand for the wedding with Alan (Galifianakis) being brought along out of pity. However, this time Stu is determined to avoid being drugged. Imagine his surprise when, once in Thailand, that is exactly what happens. And while a member of the party is, again, missing, this time it’s his future brother-in-law Teddy (Mason Lee) who is nowhere to be found. And upon inspection of their unfamiliar surroundings, they find his finger on the coffee table still bearing his class ring. I’ll admit that I, unlike most viewers, saw the first film and considered entertaining rather than hilarious. The second film is certainly lesser, at least as entertainment. In 2010, an action/comedy titled The Losers introduced the idea of ‘green terrorism’ by demonstrating a fictional explosive with all the destructive power of a nuclear bomb that created no radiation or fallout. The Hangover II is essentially a “green comedy”. Whatever esthetic differences there might be, it’s primarily recycled materials from the previous film.
