Yes story wise for me the first one takes the cake. But the gameplay, visuals and everything else about this one got cranked up to the max.

Definitely one of my favorite playstation games! Love this series!

This game series has been the best I have played in a long time. The story is so riveting. You feel for the characters.

The Last of Us Part II is a mixed bag. While reviews from paid reviewers have been largely positive, they're not criticizing aspects of this game that should be criticized. Before I go on any further, I feel like I should warn any parents thinking about buying this game for their kid/kids. This is a depressing, incredibly violent -- often brutally so -- game probably isn't good for younger children. I know it's rated Mature, but I also know many parents let their children play Mature rated games. It's important to note that this is a good "game." Why I put game in quotation is because that's not its strongest aspect -- though it is serviceable. The Last of Us Part II is all about its story -- that's why you play it -- and IMO, that's where the game falters. Without spoiling this game, it pulls a Metal Gear Solid 2. Much like that game, this isn't bad, but it's not what you were expecting, nor what Naughty Dog advertised. That isn't my chief complaint about the story, however. The story never comes together in a meaningful way like the first The Last of Us game. You'll come across many characters you won't care about either because they give you no reason to or because they're just generally uninteresting. It's a shame, too, because there are some genuinely good moments, but they're few & far between. Since I mentioned the gameplay previously, I'll touch upon it further. The Last of Us Part II plays pretty much identical to the first game except now you can go prone when in stealth. Other than that & the absence of having to craft shivs like the first game, the gameplay is largely unchanged. Graphically, The Last of Us Part II is definitely one of the better looking titles this generation. That said, it's not as perfect as you may have heard. There's a film grain filter applied to the game that makes the game look worse than it should. I hope Naughty Dog patches in an option to remove this, as it'd look a lot better without it. There are also some objects within the environment that lack textures, making certain things look dated. If you're not immersing yourself in the world & inspecting the environments & details --or lack thereof in some cases -- within them, you probably won't notice this. Overall, The Last of Us Part II is a disappointment. That's not to say it's a bad game, because it isn't, but it doesn't live up to the first game.

Modern day classic. People may disagree with some narrative decisions, but this is everything a TLoU fan needed.
