This video game is absolutely excellent from nearly ever aspect. The technical performance is near perfect, the story is great albeit polarizing, and the gameplay is a refined form of it’s predecessor’s.

This game is one of the best if not the best video games I have ever played. The story can get a little drawn out but is extremely captivating and involved. Gameplay is smooth and controls are easy get ahold of. Highly recommended to play.

This game got review bombed so hard, and it really doesn’t seem fair. There’s certainly some things I didn’t love about it, but the gameplay, storytelling, and attention to detail are consistently solid and sometimes mind blowing. Definitely worth playing, although it is a bit depressing, so I recommend balancing it out with lighter fare.

Did what it could to compare to the 1st

Nothing will ever compare to the original master piece that was part 1, but Last of us part 2 blew me away in some ways, in others it felt almost 2 familiar of gameplay for the amount of time spent on the game ( spoiler) not having Joel along for the ride was a hard pill to swallow, still the best stories are those that mimic real life, life is messy, unfair, disappointing, stuff that happens is only good or bad depending on your perspective & life isn't full of happy endings. The realism of this is art true to form, some gamers didn't get it. You can't compare this to the 1st game, but it holds its own despite some flaws, like dumb AI, a slow drawn out pace, that was likely too long, & to away more than added to the game. Some small dlc could fix some holes this game had left to fill.

A Divisive Risk that Must Be Experienced

(Brief w/ No Spoilers) As a video game, The Last of Us Part II meets the expectations that are warranted with being a 7 year newer sequel. It improves on the original in every single aspect, and the motion capture performances/acting are the best in the business. As a narrative piece of media, The Last of Us Part II defies expectations and spits in the face of the cliche movie/video game franchise sequel. This game challenges you emotionally like no other has, and it is shame that some fans of the franchise could not accept that challenge. While the game does feel like a departure from the original, at it's core, this is very much the Last of Us. Naughty Dog took a very divisive risk in telling the next chapter of this bleak story, but it ultimately pays off in big way that is fitting for the world they created.

Excellent gameplay, story was somewhat lacking for me. There is a lot of story there but the direction they took was disappointing. However the gameplay was fun, and it has some replay value. Especially going back to go through the campaign with all of your gear fully upgraded. The graphics, cutscenes, music, is all superbly done. I loved the first one and this one has a lot to offer. I picked this up later after release due to it being on sale for a great price, and I already knew what happens but playing it through you still get the reaction and I think that they could have done the story better. Still worth picking up and playing.

I played and finish the first one years ago. Loved it. So excited for this one. Graphics so amazing. And so far loving the story line. Can't wait to get in deeper. As far best buy. Had it in stock and always easy to buy things from them

A bunch of kids dealing with adult issues, in a crazy world. True to life sometimes. Easy to relate to. Good graphics, good storyline. Got involved in the characters’ lives. Just when you think you don’t like a character, you get to see the human side and why things were done that way; kind of like a movie. There’s a lot of potential here. However, it’s absolutely frustrating to fight the infected, in the same scene, over and over again; dying over and over again when there are only 3 infected to fight for example, with limited resources, on super EASY mode, and you die anyways. That coupled with the one directional map and you don’t know most of the time where that direction is, made it hard to like the game at times. That’s why I gave it a 4 star. Overall a good game though. You make this game like AC, truly open world, where I can climb every fence and every building, with enough weapons, resources and ammo to fight the infected and the different sanctions, and you have an excellent game... if there is to be a part 3. Make it enjoyable for the gamer, not frustrating and annoying.

Good game but may not be the sequel you're wanting

It's hard to do a review of this game without giving spoilers, but I'll try. Although this is a sequel to the first game, with the same characters, it may not be the sequel you're expecting. Instead I'll talk about the gameplay, etc. The gameplay is the same as the first one, only they've added a few extra things (you can dodge now as well as go prone to avoid being seen). It has some extremely touching moments (with the museum scene being one of the best scenes I think I've seen in any movie/game). Although the game starts off on an open world format, that is short lived and the game becomes linear. Not sure why they didn't stay with the open world concept but don't expect it to be open world for the entire game. This game is also LONG. It took me about 25 hours to complete (give or take) and honestly it should have been shorter as there are times that it feels like it drags unnecessarily. So is it worth $60? If you think a 25+ hour game is worth $60, then yes. If you are dropping $60 solely off of what your expectations of what the story should be, it probably isn't the story you're expecting and might not like spending that much money.

A fantastic sequel to a once in a generation game that didn't demand one. Yet, the story is of course the best part of this game. That didn't stop it from being tense, thrilling, and downright scary at times. An absolute MUST PLAY.

Amazing sequel to an great game. Everything looks and sounds great, it feels very immersive. Story was well done, I could see why people felt divided on it though. The cutscenes alone just look so beautiful, and game plays well.

The game looks great and plays fine but doesn’t do a lot to expand on the first one. I guess that’s fine but having just beat the first one I found myself bored of the same gameplay loop in the second pretty quick. Story and characters are pretty good. Not really the swan song for the ps4 I thought it would be but good overall.

Dark and depressive, with a story that will keep you at the edge of your seat. The developer Naughty Dog continues their streak of excellence. A high recommend, but not for the faint of heart, definitely an appropriately M-rated game.

Waited a few extra months for the release but the wait was worth it. Great story, graphics, and characters and improved gameplay over the original. Usually don’t play games while the weather’s nice but this game is the one exception.

In my opinion, this game is a triumph of storytelling for video games as a medium, and it stands as an example of how a creative team can push the boundaries of what we can expect from those narratives. Some people may not like what the game makes them feel (I’m not in that camp, personally), but I think the fact that players’ reactions can be so strong either way is testament to how authentic Naughty Dog’s characters are. Sure, it relies on some familiar video game tropes, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. If you made an emotional investment in the first TLOU (I replayed it just before this one came out, and highly recommend doing that if you can), then Part II successfully builds on it, and twists it into new, unexplored territories that few other video games have successfully reached.

Ignore the people review-bombing this game. The storytelling is on the same level as all time great movies and novels. The gameplay is tense. The graphics look like they could be on PS5. Naughty Dog has done it again. A true classic.
