This is the reason I bought a PS4 many years ago..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Taking it back a few + years , I bought a PS4 immediately after seeing Last of Us for the first time. At the time , I was amazed at the look and feel of this game ; there was simply no comparison with any game at the time. Fast forward a few + years and I can describe Last of Us Part 2 in a few words. This game is one of the most visceral games to come out in a very long time ; it may be the most emotionally invested game I've ever seen . It has a ton to do with the graphics and characters , but the Story also gives it a huge punch. If you find this game boring in terms of emotion and feeling then I must question your sense of observation , I have no problem with people not liking the Story and or Plot . But there is no way they can convince me the game is , at least , full of emotion.

The Godfather of storytelling!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When it comes to movies, it is known that The Godfather is the gold standard. This game, in my opinion, is the gold standard of storytelling in a video game, period! I am just aboslutely amazed at how well Naugty Dog can tell a freakin' story!!! I have watched a bunch of movies, tv shows, anime, etc, and the way The Last of US hits you in the feelings...I literally cannot put it in words. I know there were spoilers that were leaked (and luckily I didn't come across them) but ignore those leaks. Play the game for yourself! The game is a MASTERPIECE! We get introduced to brand new characters in this installment. You get to see their stories and struggles. I cannot stress enough how amazing this game is and how, if you haven't played it yet, you really should pick the game up and play it. If you haven't played the first one, play the first part and then play this one.

Very Good Game Overall With A Controversal Story.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The game is actually a great follow up to the first both with its intriguing story and gameplay mechanics. The post apocalyptic world is still around and explorations is recommended and very much encouraged throughout the game. The visuals like with the previous game are astounding as is the environmental affects and sound quality. The iconic characters Joel and Ellie are back as well as a few new ones. I definitely can relate to many gamers annoyance at how the story portrayed to our iconic characters and their relationship in the sequel and a few other spots here and there that at times definitely will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Still if given a chance I'm sure many naysayers of the game will find themselves shocked at how much they enjoy the game as I was one and waited the longest time before finally getting the game myself.Do we need the game developers to push agendas like these in games? Not really as we play games to escape reality and not deal with stuff like this in the gaming world. Regardless it's a great game and well worth adding to any gamers PS4 game library.

Amazing experience.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.*SPOILERS AHEAD* I'm not gonna sit here and talk about the gameplay, environments, etc.. I really only played this game to experience the story that Naughty Dog had given us. I'm not gonna crap on people for hating, because they have their reasons, but if what you took away from the game and the ending was, "Abby deserved to die brutally and Ellie screwed up. She spent the entire game chasing her only to let her go, and suddenly be all about forgiveness. Now she's all alone." Then you're truly looking at this in the most shallow way possible. Because yes, Ellie's rage partially came from seeing Joel brutally lose his life, but the exceptionally larger part of it stemmed from the fact that after resenting him and distancing herself from him for so long, she finally decided to try and forgive him and continue to build on their relationship and repair the broken parts, and he was killed before she could do that. When I think "Ellie needed closure", it doesn't mean "Ellie needed to avenge Joel". It means, "Ellie needed to forgive Joel, make peace with the fact that he lied and took her choice away, and learn to live for herself instead of for this grand purpose." Chasing after Abby and the WLF was definitely partly to avenge Joel, but it was also out of anger at having taken that first step towards reconciliation and having the rest of the path and eventual possession of that reconciliation ripped away from her. Later in the game, Ellie appears to have everything. A home, people she loves, a sustainable life, but she's still not happy. She still get flashbacks, sill has panic attacks. Obviously it's because she didn't finish it, right? Somewhere out there, Abby's still alive. Obviously killing her would make all of Ellie's trauma go away, right? So of course when Tommy shows up and eggs her on, she goes. It's not until she's on that beach, so desperate for what she thinks is closure that she threatens to kill an unconscious child, almost kills Abby, who clearly doesn't want to fight her, that Ellie realizes this isn't giving her the catharsis she wanted. There's no satisfaction, no feeling of weight being lifted from her shoulders, no certainty or implication that this will make it better. That's why the flashback she gets isn't Joel on the floor in that basement, it's him on his porch with his guitar. Because Ellie's journey was never really about avenging his death, it was about forgiving Joel for what he took from Ellie, and loving him anyway, even after he'd passed. Seeing him peacefully sitting on his porch is how she wants to remember him, not the gruesome scene she encountered in that house. (I definitely think seeing Abby completely dismiss Ellie and immediately check on Lev was another layer in her decision. Then she realizes it's not about revenge, and also that she would do to Lev what Abby did to her.) That's why that moment is so huge. If Ellie clung to her anger without knowing where it came from and just mercilessly killed Abby, would she have reached the same realization? Would she see that Abby was just a convenient target for her frustrated feelings about Joel? Or would she go back, still traumatized, and never understand why she didn't get closure? Why she didn't feel like she could move on? The epilogue is largely symbolic of Ellie's letting go. Ellie lost herself, and her misguided crusade left her damaged, and she doesn't want to lose herself anymore. (The guitar isn't her only link to Joel, their bond is much deeper that some inanimate object.) The final shot of Ellie leaving the guitar behind and walking forward? The moth on the neck, a symbol for looking for the light? It shows that she's finally getting closure and letting go of all her anger towards both Joel and Abby, and taking the first real step towards happiness, healing, and recovery.

Graphics are superb, but the story is dull.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not here to drop a negative review of the game and leave; the game is no where near the standards the first game set in terms of storytelling. This is an honest opinion and a SPOILER FREE review: Let's start off with graphics. If this isn't the best visually pleasing game, it's definitely high up there. Naughty Dog did a fantastic job tying the visuals and audio together. The gameplay is better than the first. Dodging and jumping have been introduced, which helps make the combat feel more rewarding. However, the NPCs in this game are quite average, even in high difficulties. On the contrary, the game allows you to traverse to the next area in several ways, even though it's a linear game. Great job with this! Now... moving onto the story. Remember how great the first game was? Remember all the character progression on Joel and Ellie? Well, this game has none of that. The Last of Us Part II throws away anything you ever loved in the first game for new characters that are unlikable and uninteresting. The story is dull and after the first few hours, it starts to get somewhat repetitive. The puzzles are extremely simple and unnecessary in some areas. It's no where near the standards the first game set in terms of story telling through a video game. In all honesty, the story is quite basic. If you're a fan of the first game, don't get your hopes up for the sequel. I played the first game several times, but I have no will to replay this game. Audio and graphics? 10/10. Gameplay? 7/10. Story? 2/10. I recommend playing it for the graphics, but I do not recommend spending 18+ hours on a generic story.

Nothing Short of a Masterpiece
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I finished this game a couple of days ago and I have not stopped thinking about it. I can't stop thinking about it. There are going to be a lot of people that don't like this game because the story isn't what they thought it would be. That is understandable, honestly. But whether or not someone likes the game's story does not change how incredible the game is. It's a masterpiece of storytelling, acting, gameplay, music, sound design, and 3D design. It is, simply put, one of the greatest games I have ever played in my life.

I played the whole thing through in less than a week but thats just because I was addicted and playing probably more than I should've in one day. The story is amazing, the visuals are beautiful. The saddest game I've played but totally worth it.

The last of us ll
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first half of The Last of Us Part II feels like exactly what it is: an upgraded version of the original game. It’s still a third-person action / adventure game where everything around you is dangerous. Seattle’s many buildings are filled with unsettling zombie-like creatures: ones that are blind and move by sound, forcing you to be quiet and slow, others that scream in a horrifyingly human way and will stop at nothing to kill you. The city is in a state of war. Two factions — a militant organization known as WLF and a religious group called the Seraphins — fight constantly over conflicting ideologies and limited resources. Ellie’s quest puts her directly in the middle of this turmoil
