Fantastic game that caught me by surprise left and right. I highly suggest playing the first game first, and also going in without any spoilers as the best part of this game is definitely the story.

I normally get nervous when a sequel to an amazing game is announced. In many cases they don’t live to the players’ expectations. This is definitely not the case with this game! What an amazing sequel to a near perfect game!

I fall into the camp that was thoroughly disappointed with the story and plot. I agree that cinematics and music is stunning, and I disagree with those that say the gameplay wasn’t a step up. I liked the game mechanics and noticed improved transitions and sequencing in combat. In order to try and overcome my biases and emotions, I have read a bunch of positive reviews to see why others thought so highly of the game. What I have noticed is a trend of those who have little connection to TLOU original characters; they either played the original for the first time recently (or not at all), or the original was not their favorite game of all time, like it is for those of us who were disappointed by the storyline in TLOU2. And let’s be honest, review bombing goes both ways - a lot of these 10/10 reviews have no substance, which is telling that they were not emotionally connected to the story or are accounts created to try and offset the 0/10 reviews (which makes it hard to believe they are real reviews). Naughty Dog, you absolutely crushed us. This was the wrong story to use as a platform to examine the cycle of violence and its consequences. TLOU story was so impactful because there was hope in Joel and Ellie’s story in a desolate, hopeless world, and it was in that hope that ALL of us diehard fans found “something to fight for”. There is no hope in the storyline of TLOU2 - the revenge plot and its execution was way too easily contrived, characters decisions are forced to align to the plot’s revenge theme, rather than the characters driving the storyline and the forgiveness shown at the end by Ellie is hollow, forced, unbelievable and used as a cheap literary solution to attempt to give the whole story justification. We the diehard fans of the original story deserve better than what was given. The story was absolutely not one “deserving of Joel and Ellie” as Druckmann promised, and a video game - a 3rd person shooter, Story- driven, apocalyptic, survival game - should not have been the vehicle to examine the cycle of violence/“revenge is bad motif”. Especially one that takes 40 hours to complete and leaves you emotionally hollow upon completion. I implore those who feel as I do to leave reviews like this in hopes that it will somehow hold ND accountable to its previous high standard of game development and prevent something like this from happening again.

My husband loves this game so much and had been waiting on it to come out. I think it’s an acquired taste. You have to have loved the first one in order to appreciate this one. But he loves the flow of the game and graphics.

While I would recommend playing the original first to get the whole story, it’s not necessary to enjoy the sequel. This is a great storied game and will entertain on more than one play through. Much harder than first game!

I played the part 1 and it was one of my best experience with the game - The Last of Us. Part II also stuck to the genre and was also just exilerating to play as the first. Great storyline.

It delivers a layered, emotionally shattering story on top of stealth and action gameplay that improves the first game’s mechanics while integrating a bit more of Uncharted’s greater mobility and action. But while Part 2 is a thrilling adventure, it still makes time for a stunning, nuanced exploration of the strength and fragility of the human spirit.

more similar game play from the first one. which is not a bad thing. some people need to lighten up on the game story, its just that a fictional story. if you played part 1 and you liked that, this is right up your alley.

My granddaughter really enjoyed playing this. She's a big fan. She can't wait for what's coming out next.

After playing the original, I was anticipating the sequel! So much fun and the story line is great. If you haven't played the original, it's ok, but best to play both fir a truly great storyline and experience.

I heard you either love or hate this game. Well...after playing the first, I HAD TO play this through just to see the ending. It's worth going throughat least once!

I would not say this game is "fun". I would say this game is enjoyable bc of the story. If you have played the 1st one you will know what I'm talking about. Getting through each section of the game to dig deeper and farther through the story was my motivation. Not much replay value like a great movie.

Great game. There’s a good amount of puzzle solving similar to Resident Evil games but the graphics and action are awesome. I only give it 4 stars because I’m more into constant action but I’d recommend to players who like these types of games. I can see many people giving it 5 stars.

Amazing game! So many oh crap and tense moments. Just when it feels like it might become a little boring something in the story happens and sucks you right back in. Highly recommended.

I’m about half way through the game and so far I’ve really enjoyed playing it. The story answers some questions left from the first one and gameplay is similar making the learning curve simple. Good graphics and story.

Overall this game is pretty good, the gameplay and how the game runs is really good. The visuals are super stunning and can’t wait to see how it looks on the ps5. Really the only problem with it is the story. It kinda pointless and doesn’t have much logic. But if you can get past the story it’s still a fun game.

I really never understood the amount hate this game received. Not the greatest sequel, but it's still game of the year quality, next to ghost of Tsushima. I'm currently on my second gameplay and can't put it down.

As a fan of previous Last of Us, the story line was not the best. However, nothing to complain about the gameplay itself. Very nicely down (except the story line) and no lag. I recommend don't think too much about the plots and just enjoy the game play.

My hat is off to them, you thought the first one was good it is, but this one man oh man. What a storyline every single turn I am even more amazed. The graphics really do feel like I am in a movie. What an amazing game.
