I loved the first game for the story and the gameplay. Part II on the other hand I only love for the gameplay. The story is...interesting. I guess I can live with the fact that they killed the main player character, Joel, at the beginning of the game. I wanted Ellie to get her revenge, but for some reason the story decides for Ellie, and by extension to you the player, that revenge isn't worth it. How many people do we already kill and yet somehow Abby is where we stop? On top of it we have to play as Abby so you can ideally gain some empathy for her. The problem is I already know what she did, and I hate her for it. The story is also told in a weird way where you play several days the first have the game as Ellie, and then you start over the same set of days as Abby the last half of the game. I think they wanted to time the story in an artistic way, but it would have been better had it been told concurrently.

I waited for this to come out so long. The story of Elle continues and it's pretty good. The story line pulls at you and will have you feeling conflicted. Definitely worth the buy got this for $30 during the holidays and so amazed with the game play and story line. When you need a break from online griefers and settle into a good game this is it.

This is a Great game to play by yourself or even have a friend watch you play. It’s like watch a movie at the same time, I haven’t finished it yet but so far the game delivers on storytelling and graphic kills. I don’t want to spoil the game but if you’re into single player adventure/ shooter/ stealth / horror. This is a game you’ll enjoy, believe the reviews from the pros.

I love this game. The first one blew me away with the story 11/10. And this one continues Ellie's tale. The story is almost as good at #1, I would say 9/10. Game play is just as fun 10/10. It's nice to have a great game with out all the DLC.

Most people seem to either put this game on a pedestal or believe it to be lower than dirt. I think the truth is somewhere in the middle. The weakest aspect of the game in my opinion is the storywriting, which is VERY disappointing for a game that is so story-focused. Without going into spoilers, the game's main drive is revenge, and for 20-30 hours a player is subjected to an overbearing, repeated message that "revenge is bad" and "revenge hurts everyone", ad nauseam. Right when the game hits a point to end on a proper somber note, it then goes on for another hour or so to beat a metaphorical dead horse with the revenge message again while adding nothing meaningful to the overall message. There are some strong characters in the game, particularly the pair of Yara and Lev. These two ended up carrying the second half of the game and I thoroughly enjoyed watching their development. Many secondary characters end up having almost no investment or development and feel as if they are forced into the game to merely serve a purpose later (i.e. to die). But, the performances for all the main characters were overall great. Everything else from gameplay, to audio, to graphical fidelity ranged from good to amazing. The gameplay had some small tweaks and improvements from the first title. Sound was excellent and the graphics were easily some of the best the PS4 will ever be able to offer. The accessibility options also allow fine-tuning of gameplay and visuals in a way that many games don't offer. They even provide full control over your button mapping which is a feature that is long overdue to be a standard on console games. Despite my own personal criticisms of the game, many have vocalized that they felt strongly about the game and I have often read or heard that the game "stuck" with people for days or weeks after playing. Thus, I would still consider it a title worth playing so that you may at least form your own opinion.

The first Last of Us is one of my favorite games, and Part II takes what was set-up up and not only expands on it, but fundamentally deconstructs it. It's a beautiful game with moments of horrifying violence, intense emotions -- incredible highs, and confusingly surprising lows. The pacing is... not great. And the extended runtime doesn't do the awkward, time-hopping narrative any justice. Having said that, there's some great, challenging stuff in here. I'd ignore the negative reviews and try it for yourself.

If you enjoyed the first game, you will most likely find this one enjoyable as well. Everything has been expanded from the first game including the story, combat and exploration. The story is an emotional one that you won’t forget. The combat has added new quirks and the exploration areas in some cases are massive. Ignore the negative reviews and try it for yourself.

This is a sequel you don't want to miss. If you've heard about the leaks you're probably wary of this game, but those leaks do not do justice to this game's story and it's execution. It plays better than the first, with faster controls, and the switching between characters is done extremely well to create a deep story of revenge and its costs.

I think this game does something bold that not many will accept. I personally find it better than the first one. The game play is almost completely the same with few improvements, graphics are crazy good (this is coming from a PC gamer), the new puzzle system is fun (locked doors and finding safe combinations) and the scenario (or you'd call it story) is pretty good. If you're getting this, play through the end. It's a long game and have an open mind of the stuff that happens and the themes represented.

The production values on this sequel are through the roof. Everything from the graphics, action, sound design and art style is amazing. Despite all that, I didn't enjoy this game as much as the original. Maybe it's because it was more of the same. Maybe it's because the plot didn't grab me. Whatever the reason, it was still very enjoyable if maybe a bit too long for it's own good. Even a lesser Naughty Dog game like this one is better than 95% of all of the other games on the market.

Great story, very intense gameplay! The attention to detail, the combat system, the elaborate environments; Naughty Dog improves upon the first game in every way imaginable. Anyone giving this game a negative review likely has issues with strong female characters. There’s nothing quite like The Last of Us series in gaming today and everyone should experience them.

I really liked this game, the way you get to play from the perspective side of both players. The actions and reactions from the events that took place in the first one molded them into who they are now. I was really hoping to have Joel alive for most of the game or until the end but then the plot would have been different. Overall it was a good game for me.

This is the exciting sequel to the now-classic Last of Us. This game was given a lot of hate before release, I never read anything before hand and I thoroughly what they did with the gameplay and story, for the most part, was exciting to keep you wanting to play more. There is multiplayer coming for this game also. A great game, top notch production.

Writing, voice acting, graphics, animation... it’s all amazing. How much you enjoy it, on the other hand, might depend on what sort of politicized weirdo you are. But for most gamers, especially those who enjoyed the original game, this is an absolute triumph. Brutally violent but also full of quiet, self-reflective moments. Insanely impressive overall.

This was a great game. Sad, compelling storyline. With an interesting gameplay format between two opposing sides. It made me root for my own players death at times. Then made me question the whole reasoning behind the motives of the characters. By the end of the game I was completely satisfied with the outcome and was ready to play it through again.

Great gameplay, overall improvement from the original with a variety of new features (highly recommend higher difficulties) Excellent graphics, sounds design, OST, and performances. Interesting story. Definitely unexpected and occasionally challenging to accept but the analogies, character development, and creative decisions payed off (personally)

Took about 30+ hours to complete on moderate difficulty, and kept me coming back for more when I had free time. That 30 hours though took me about a month and a half of sporadic play to complete though. Played it over a second time and that took a little over 23 hours since then. The story grabs you and the ending was worth it IMO. Next up LOU3.

I'm about 9 hours in and loving it! For some reason I am finding this game less stressful than the first one...in a good way, and I think the improved controls and fluidity help a lot with that. Narratively, the story is great and I am glad Naughty Dog has had one more opportunity to produce a game on the PS4, since I found Uncharted 4 disappointing.
