A really good zelda despite being so different
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this a long time ago and it's still really fun to come back to every now and again. The story is rich as you find bits and pieces scattered about the huge map. The combat is challenging (and sometimes a little annoying with the weapon durability but what can ya do). Puzzles are pretty interesting and there's plenty of them. It's also fun to mess around with the physics of the game and do cool or silly tricks. Overall a fantastic game. But everyone knew that already

This game will keep you playing for HOURS!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the first game I bought for the Nintendo Switch and I am loving it. The music goes along very well with what you are experiencing in the game. The combat aspect of the game is outstanding. The land of Hyrule is very expansive with many things to do. There are over 100 shrines to discover, explore, and solve. There are also Korok seeds that need to be collected, there are 900 Korok seeds to find, so, good luck! The story is very long and is very satisfying when you complete it. This game is so much fun and a blast to play.

Great game for all ages! Free World!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this when it was on sale for $45.00 dollars recently and I must say, I am impressed with the graphics of this game! I don't play Zelda....but my boyfriend does and while watching him play, I can tell why everyone seemed to really like this game. The graphic is simply gorgeous and many effort and hours were put into the game for this to look so stunning. I'm sure you already heard all the great things online but I had to say something as well. I really love that it is an open world. Not many games possessive this right now (like Splatoon, Mario, Kirby, etc). I enjoyed where you were able to explore the world outside and did things at your own pace. However, there was some things that were difficult like the fightings and tasks sometimes. Don't get me started on Link's stamina. It sucks. Seriously, how can you be tired after running a few feet? My grandma who is 70 years old with a cane can limp faster then Link's stamina without breathing harshly. And his weapons (in the beginning of the game) was not only hard to get but breaks very easily as well. My baseball bat can probably done a better job then his (after a good 15-25 hits, his weapons break). Overall, as many people said online, it's a great game that would keep you entertained for hours. It sucks it's only for one player but I enjoyed watching the gameplay and such as well.

Fantastic Zelda Title
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a game that changes up the traditional formula with a huge open world with plenty to do as you travel across it. There are some minor survival elements such as durability, food recipes, elixirs, etc. Traditional Zelda dungeons are noticeably missing which may turn off purists, however there are 120 trials scattered across Hyrule, 4 racial dungeons with amazing puzzles, and 1 large final dungeon that will impress. The story is a beautifully deep and personal, minor characters are also very fun and quirky, and bosses will put you to the test. A must buy for any Switch owner!

At first I was skeptical. 100 hours later love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When I first started playing this game I was taken aback by how different it was from any other Zelda game. I was honestly a bit insulted that they'd put the name Zelda on this game. Weapons break, there's armor, there are no dungeons, and it just felt wrong. After I got used to the original shock of those differences however, I couldn't put it down! This game is beautiful, has a very intriguing story, lots of customization, and while it doesn't quite feel like Zelda, it is a LOT of fun! I would definitely recommend it, as it is very very easily the best game on the Switch right now.

One of the best ones yet!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is probably one of the best Zelda games of the franchise to date. With very open and scenic places to explore, every time you play you'll learn something you can do. I barely scratched the surface of the main story due to all the exploring I've done. This is a very open Zelda game like its original. If you have the time to put in more than 100+ hours into a video game, want to explore the ruins of hyrule, go on your own adventures, then this is the game to get!

Really awesome game Zelda or not
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have long been a fan of the ale gene of Zelda series but sort of lost interest around the time of Windwaker. This game is massive and exciting. I love the story and they don't baby you in the slightest. In fact we finally have a real challenge in that your weapons and armor can break and running out of stamina can be fatal at the wrong time. The world is yours to explore any way you like and the shrines are so fun to try and conquer. Some of the puzzles are surprisingly clever with their use of physics. You sometimes really need to rethink how you approach a puzzle.

A masterpiece
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Zelda games have always been an innovative and epic Nintendo franchise. It seems as if every new Zelda game that is released is better than the next. Zelda: BOTW offers plenty of hours of game-play thru side quest, the main quest, and just exploring the game world. Exploration in Zelda: BOTW is probably my favorite thing to do; running around the landscape and discovering new areas is always a good time. The graphics are really nice, and the story is very interesting. The game has runes (skills) to unlock which adds new ways of playing the game.

First time player.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unlike most people who grew up playing video games, I've never really played a Zelda game. I bought a Switch because of the amazing 1st party titles, including this. The game is challenging but fun. The open world is huge and beautiful. The story is good, but is told through a series of flashbacks. I would say that 1st time players could easily jump into this title, as it seems the developers revolutionized the Zelda series with this title in order to draw to a new generation of fans. This is the perfect title for newcomers.

Best Game you can get on Switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game needs no introduction. It’s a saga we all know and love, but reimagined in a very unexpected way. The story is very captivating, the missions are exciting with a great level of challenge, and it sucks you into their world. You have to have some skill, but it’s very forgiving if you’re not a big gamer. If you like the freedom and flexibility of an open world, it is a game to be lost in for hundreds of hours. Truly amazing!

Awesome
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Im pleasantly surprised how much I love this game. The way things work in this game is like real life. And can be strange that it actually works in a game. If you are cold you can have fire near you to warm up. Not enough stamina to cross a lake? Cut a tree down and push it out half way so you have somewhere to rest. The only thing I REALLY hate about this game. Is how easy your weapons break. That part is annoying. And some places the framerate drops. But not that often. LOVE this game. oh and the story is average. not the best but not terrible.

BEST LAUNCH GAME EVER! BEST ZELDA PERIOD!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am a lifelong Zelda player going back to the original NES gold cartridge days and I must say BOTW is a perfect mix of new and old and thus far is my favorite Zelda ever. The open world recreates the challenges of the original and eliminates the frustrations of the past several Zelda by being too restricted in your linear movements. The graphics and story only serve to create an ever better sense of immersion and challenge. A+ Nintendo!

Hyrule like you've never seen it before
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wonderful, open world game! After the somewhat let down of Skyward Sword, Nintendo comes full throttle with Breath of the Wild. Hyrule itself is ginormous, the story is great and the play control is absolutely fantastic! I love the fact that you can (to most extent) play the game in pretty much any order you wish. The only draw back in my opinion is the new weapon damage system as weapons tend to break rather quickly... although that makes finding the Master Sword that much more rewarding. All in all, my favorite game so far this year and last.

A great addition to the Zelda series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant about BOTW, I've played a number of open world style games that failed to keep me hooked, but Zelda does it right. There is just so much to do in the world. I will admit, some design choices were a bit jarring, like weapon durability, and resource sparseness (no constantly filling up your arrows before each boss here, you've got to use them sparingly) but I've mostly adjusted and can appreciate the systems now. (I still wish rupees were a bit more common though). Its a superb game, and being able to play it anywhere is great.

Life changer
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Some games you just know are going to change your life the moment it boots up; this game is absolutely no exception. The story will pull you in and never let you go. You’ll torment yourself in search of the next adventure, the next chest, the next new location to explore! This game doesn’t seem to become boring. You may find yourself so engrossed that you forget to eat, sleep, go to work, walk the dog, get the mail, feed your kids... so learn from my mistake and make sure you set timers or reminders. The game looks beautiful, when you witness your first Sunrise against the ocean water, you’ll hardly care that it’s not some graphically impressive 4K game played on one of the competitor’s systems. They should have asked a poet to write this review... or at least someone who went to college and could read and rite good. The gameplay can be pretty demanding at times, but the more you play, the better you get, and the easier it becomes. The story allows you to 100% choose your own journey. Do you want to go fight the end game boss right after you start the game, you can do that.... do you want to spend 400 hours exploring and cooking food? You can do that too! Easily worth full price, but if you find it on sale, you should totally jump on the opportunity without thinking. Even if you don’t own a Switch, totally buy this. It’s a sound business decision. Trust me, I bought this game, and my grocery bills were instantly cut by 3/4. Pros: besides everything I just said, this game is so addicting that my lack of eating has led me to lose 10 pounds. Cons: none.

The ultimate game for wandering and discovering.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is designed to be enjoyed in many different ways. If you are the diligent type of person who wants to follow the recommendations of the game and go EXACTLY where you are told to go next, and what to do, then this is a solid game. But that is not what this game is meant for. It is meant for wandering and discovery. And if you put yourself in the right mindset to get curious, and observe the landscape and see what could potentially be around that hill, or down that river, or inside that valley, or up on top of that mountain, this game will reward you with surprises. Let me point out the very thing that this game does that separates it from all other open-world games: This is a vertically designed game. By design you are encouraged to climb up to high places to observe the land and see what is below, and then you can drop in below. You are encouraged to act as your own topographer and mark up your own map with "stamps" to chart what it is that you see and place a waypoint there. Its pure discovery. There are no "?" already pre-placed on the map. Its all up to you. In most games, this would be a bad sign, because there's usually not much there. Like some collectable item that only serves to complete a side quest for the sake of completion. That is not what happens in this game, you are rewarded with unique gameplay moments. You discover new missions and characters. You find interesting side stories entirely by accident. This game rewards you for your curiosity at such a consistent level. This is the game where you are recommended to NOT just follow the main quest. This game has so many other game mechanics at work, that it would take a while to explain them all. The best way to explain is that the game strives to achieve a realism without all the boring parts about realism. Its very interactive, but not in a way in which its pointless. There's a GAMEPLAY reason for all of this interactivity. One gameplay mechanic that would be utterly pointless and tedious on its own is justified by the implementation of other gameplay mechanics. It all ends up working together. There's a bit of Minecraft-type of resource gathering mechanics. And lastly, the game surprises you with its enemy and their behavior. Even the most common enemy will find some way to surprise you during a fight. Because of the fact that your weapons has a short shelf-life early on in the game, you are forced to try out different weapons, but more importantly, you are strongly encouraged to engage a group of enemies in unique ways so that you don't have to use up your weapons. Scope the landscape and see what you can use to your advantage. Experiment. And there are so many small details that simply accumulate to blow you away. You have a sound-meter, when you walk slowly you make some noise, if you crouch and walk you make almost no noise, but if you run you make alot of noise. Nothing complicated about that, right? But WHY is it in the game? Because you can crawl up to enemies sleeping stealthily. And THEN you come to realize that when its raining, the sound of the rain masks the sound of your footsteps. So the dynamic weather has a PURPOSE, the sound has a PURPOSE. Its not there for the sake of presentation. Its there because you can DO SOMETHING WITH IT. The moment you realize that and then ask yourself "what if.......I try doing this?" and then do it AND IT WORKS!! Its the greatest feeling I've had in many years. This game makes you realize how other games artificially limit you in ways that are just plain silly. Locked doors??? Really? A line of bushes that serves as a wall that you aren't allowed to get past? This Zelda is meant to blow your mind in 2017 the way the first Zelda blew your mind in 1986/87.

Fun!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Breath of the Wild is a fun game for everyone! A few years later, the game is still a fun game to play to this day even if you aren't playing the sequel: TOTK. It's a different Zelda game than the others and the first to be open world within the series. If you don't have the game yet, what are you waiting for? I'm already around 100+ hours even playing the second time! It's a must have!

Best game I've played in years
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This has been the best video game experience in a few years for me. This game features a large open world with many things to occupy your time with. Some people do not like the 'open world with several side quests' set-up that this game features. Maybe if it was a different game, I wouldn't like it either. But I think Nintendo did a wonderful job keeping me entertained throughout the massive amount of hours I spent in this game. Pros: 1) The art-style is beautiful, and while not on the same graphic level as some other consoles, I think this game looks prettier than quite a few PS4 titles. 2) Link travels to a variety of locations, all of which beautiful. No 40+ hours spent looking at locales that all look the same. 3) Tons of stuff to occupy Link with. Shrines, Korok seeds, side-quests, picture-taking, and more. 4) Smooth sailing as far as gameplay and combat. Very familiar to those who have played a Zelda game before. Cons: 1) Some shrines required move controls to complete. I am not a fan of move controls (I just got the teleports for these shrines and moved on). 2) A lot of people had an issue with the English VAs. The VA didn't bother me so much as the sync of the voices with the animation. Just switch to the Japanese and put on subtitles if it really bothers you. Despite the couple of cons, this was such a great game that they didn't diminish my enjoyment at all.
