Breath of the Wild isn’t a game I can say does new things. It’s a game I can say does things better. There’s a polish here in the gameplay department that doesn’t redefine, but instead outshines all before it. An open world so perfectly adjusted, so meticulously balanced, and so inviting to everyone of all skill types is the new Zelda. While I will miss some of the old traditions, I welcome this new breath of fresh wilderness. Thus, the game was named perfectly for what it is, even if its framerate and story don’t top the traditions it left behind. Here’s to another five year wait to see what’s next.

Great game. The open world is extremely nice and the story is great too. Combat system feels smooth as well.

I have to respect Nintendo for delaying this game until it was ready. At first, I was a bit upset that they didn't ship for the 2016 holidays, but now I'm glad they made sure the game was everything I expected and more. If you're a Zelda fan, you're going to love the game, although it does mark a departure from the dungeon-based Zeldas of the past. The map is massive and filled with secrets, so not having the standard dungeon levels isn't really too big of a loss. The game is absolutely challenging enough without dungeons, almost too challenging. I love this game, and I know I'm not even halfway through it. It'll be interesting to see how the upcoming DLC turns out. I hope it can add a lot to the game and keep it interesting for years, although I believe it already will be anyway. Great game, probably the best open world game there is.

This game is phenomenal. The Legend of Zelda series is my favorite in gaming, and I've never felt so drawn to obsessively playing an entry in the series as I have with this one. It's so easy to get distracted from the "main storyline" for dozens of hours, exploring the world and trying things out. Even after completing the game, I keep going back to it because I know that there are sections of the map that I have hardly even touched. Yes it's not a perfect game- frames do drop on occasion and the main dungeons aren't as large as I'd like, but the shrines and world are full of excellent puzzles, and the physics and environmental engine combined with climbing+gliding traversal allow for a playground unlike any other. Best yet, every playthrough will allow for a different story and experience due to the sheer magnitude of the world.

This game is challenging, but very fun. The world is very immersive and complex. The visuals are gorgeous. I very much like puzzle games, and this game utilizes this in progression to the storyline, which is also great. I would definitely recommend if you are a Zelda fan and like good puzzle/story games.

I am really impressed, I never thought a Nintendo game would run so good. The game runs at a stable freshrate and it has, surprisingly, a very fast loading. In addition I did not had to download any updates whatsoever, I just started playing. The game has very good graphics and performance. The story itself is amazing, filled with epic story moments. Finally, the game has quite a good number of cutscenes where the characters actually talk, instead of just reading text. It is a surprising game

People regularly complain that Nintendo games tend to follow a script, and that you always know what you are getting from a new entry in an old franchise- not so for Breath of the Wild. I am going to be spoiler free in this, and try not to ruin any surprises by simply saying that I appreciate the effort Nintendo went through to make a Zelda game full of exploration, that let's you tackle the adventure in the order you want, though the difficulty can definitely be punishing if you stray WAY ahead of the curve. I often hear people complain about wanting the feeling of exploration they got from the first Zelda, and I think this is a good, modern way of giving that feeling to the players without pandering to nostalgia. It's a lot of fun. My little 7 year old niece is also in love with it, so it's not just for grown ups.

I've been a lifelong player of the Legend of Zelda series and have always felt that, like many others, Ocarina of Time is the gold standard by which all the other games are measured. After playing through Breath of the Wild, I have to admit that I think that standard has changed. This game has everything you could ever want in a Zelda title...it is incredibly fun to pick up and play, is challenging, and let's you work at your own pace. There is so much to explore and discover it's almost overwhelming after you get into it. By utilizing the great functionality of the Switch, this game is just as good on the go as it is on your TV screen. I have not played the WiiU version, but know several people that have it and they tell me it is just as good as it is on the Switch. If you own either console, this game is a must buy.

Breath of the Wild surprised me in many ways and I'm glad I didn't skip over this one. It is one of the best games ever made. The deep gameplay system combined with a great story and open world makes this a no brainer for anyone who has a Switch. It deserved all of the hype that it received.

This game was purchased as a gift for my 16yo daughter. She is an avid gamer and she absolutely LOVES this game. She has not stopped talking about it for a week now. She loves the play, the story, the lore, and the beauty of the game! She came home from work today talking about the areas that she needs to go visit, the preparations she must make, etc. I told her that she sounds just like her mother and I sounded when we were addicted to The Legend of Zelda on the original Nintendo in the 80s. This sounds every bit as addictive to this new generation of gamers as Zelda was to us first generation gamers. I'm sure I'll be playing this game soon! Most highly recommended.

Smooth 3D graphics of an "open" world, encourages exploration and challenges. Puzzles are often mental, more than physical, but plenty of benefit for the joy-stick agile to solve as well. Exciting combat with a multitude of fighting techniques and surprises. Frightening dangers are often just around the corner, as constant reminders that more growth and development is needed along the way. Sophisticated language used at times, to challenge and educate all levels of education. Cultural differences from one region to another is pronounced and nicely done. The cultural and language challenges encourage learning and acceptance for all ages (best for 8-15, but doable for younger readers, with adult assistance). Puzzles can be overly frustrating for the younger players, but are generally solvable, and web searches provide solution/answer book, if needed. As an adult, I've put in nearly 200 hours, have experienced some 25-30% of the game, and am still addicted to the story, challenges, and surprises.

BotW might be the best video game ever made. Ocarina of Time held that mantle a while ago, and now Breath of the Wild seems to have taken up the crown. Gameplay is fluid, the story is as beautiful as ever, the music is masterfully woven into the experience, and the visual aesthetic of this game is breathtaking. It looks like a Japanese pencil drawing come-to-life. Probably not the best game for a super casual (or brand new) gamer, due to how deep and involved it is. (This is not the kind of game one can pick up and dive right into. It sort of ramps up.) But if you have been away from Zelda for a while or if you're new to the series but have played open world games and want to give BotW a try -- you are in for a very special treat.

+ Fun + Challenging - Weapon breakage :( As my first LoZ game since OoC I was not sure what to expect. All of my concerns were instantly whisked away as this title is simply fun to play. The story is a little minimalistic but still meaty enough. This is a great launch title for the Switch.

Simply one of the best Zelda games ever made. Beautiful graphics and a compelling story, this is one of those “must have” games that made me go out and buy a Nintendo Switch Console.

The game is amazing! It keeps true to form for Zelda game lovers and is great for new gamers too! I love the open world exploring, but I dislike that there is no story flow to the game, the story is ok, but you are never told where to go to continue the story (if you get bored with just random exploration). It's difficult for kids under 10 to play but I love playing it with my kids! They love seeing me and their dad beat the bad guys and they like finding koraks and shrines and secrets! It's a very fun game overall!!

A sprawling adventure unlike any other, Breath of the Wild redefines what an open-world game can be. From the moment you step onto the vast plains of Hyrule, you're captivated by a world brimming with life, secrets, and endless possibilities. This isn't just another Zelda game; it's an experience that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

This game is marvelous. Even after 80+ hours, it's still a delight to play. Being able to climb any mountains or walls makes the world feel like it's just waiting for you to explore it. The game is also gorgeous, both in docked and handheld mode. One of the things that this game does best is rewarding exploration. The more you explore, the more it benefits you, in the forms of heart containers, stamina vessels, and slots for your weapons, bows, and shields. Plus, there are (what seems to be) hundreds of quests that further encourage you to explore the fascinating world. Many of them also act almost like a tour guide, pointing out new places that you might've otherwise missed. And the NPCs and towns are extremely interesting and dynamic! I've enjoyed this quite a bit.

What can I say that hasn't already been said about this game a hundred times before? It is near-perfection. I have played this game for over 50 hours so far and feel like I have only scratched the surface with what you can do. I am not usually a fan of open-world games because they are usually intimidating to me and there is just no direction. In this game, they give you just the right amount of direction and freedom, and allow you to play and experience this game exactly how you want. If you just want to play through the story and do all the main missions, you can do that. If you just want to wander around the world and do shrines and side missions, you can do that as well. Both methods are equally satisfying. If you own a Switch, you owe it to yourself to buy this game.

This is truly one of the best games I've ever played. Everything about it is rewarding and the exploration never gets tiring. The only negative I have are a few frame rate issues when there is a lot of intense rain or wind. But it's not overly severe where you want to stop playing.
