A lovely, massively overrated gem.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. An open-world game that isn't that open-world. An RPG that doesn't have a role to play. An adventure game that obsesses over puzzles, or is it a puzzle game with some mild adventuring? Most markedly, it's a Zelda game that isn't a Zelda game. If you're reading this, you probably already know Zelda games. You play as Link, you go into dungeons and fight monsters for hearts and items, and there are puzzles everywhere. Breath of the Wild, on the other hand, flips the script completely. There's almost nothing in the way of traditional dungeons, replaced with a massive open world (by Japanese open-world game standards) which house dozens upon dozens of tiny, one-room shrines with a single puzzle. Finish those puzzles and you'll get your items and health hearts, and that's that. The fighting takes place almost exclusively on the open world, as it were, and this is where the game falls apart. Every weapon you wield against every enemy will slowly begin to disintegrate, sometimes within a few swings, and then poof, is destroyed and gone. Forever. You will literally go through HUNDREDS of weapons in BotW (including bows and shields, too), and that is a gaming mistake so lethal that it poisoned any amount of positive experience I might have had with this otherwise inventive title. The overworld map is large, expansive, and majestic; you'll love scouring it for hidden gems, doodads, and those scores of shrines. You will not love wondering if you need to waste that one good weapon you were saving- and will never, ever see again- on some stupid blue wolf monkey thing that's attacking you from afar. You'll have this crisis dozens upon dozens of times in the game, and it was debilitatingly stupid, pointless, and annoying each and every time. Great game? Sure. Legendary super title? I have absolutely no. Idea. WHY. people are saying this was an all time GOAT of a game. To me it's just another Zelda, and one of the worst in the series. Which still makes it not bad at all.

Love me some Zelda
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really fun and I hate having to compete for time on the game with my nephews. Comparable to the first Zelda that we played on the wii. I live to browse and explore and nephews want to beat Ganon. Something for everyone.

Better than Majoras Mask
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have always thought there would never be another Zelda game that would compare to Majoras Mask. I was wrong. This is (in my opinion) the best Zelda game to date. Just please dont call Link, Zelda. Or Zelda, Link...

Timeless
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the game! Classic Zelda. The fact that your free to move practically anywhere, makes it fun. My six year old daughter loved it when I played it. Bought the game a year ago and she still wants me to play it.

The Zelda game you're expecting!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After growing up on a hearty portion of ocarina of Time and Majora's mask, this Zelda game is the exact mature version of those games I expected. Still great for the family of course, but it adds plenty of puzzles and action to keep any fan glued for hours.

Best Game I've Ever Played
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the best Zelda game I have ever played. In addition to that, it might actually be the best game I've ever played, Zelda or otherwise. This game alone makes spending $300 on the switch, money well spent. Just buy this game and don't leave your house for a week or two.

Amazing game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very fun game that takes the genre, and perfects it. It is a beautiful adventure that you can take in any direction. I am hundreds of hours in, and only have completed a little more than half of everything available.

Best game for the Switch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As of the date of writing this review (06-20-17) Breath of the Wild should still be the only reason to buy a Switch since launch IF you never got a Wii U. It's a great game, huge and after over 100 hours of gameplay I still come back for more. Some gripes come about how the game could be held back due to it pushing the Switch to its capabilities or the fact that it was developed for the Wii U AND then ported to the Switch such as mobs disappearing at times when your chasing them, or not being able to see a lot of thing unless you're very close by. Plot is almost non-existant but the superb gameplay makes up a lot for it.

Awesome! Hours of fun.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I fell in love with this game. I’m an older person and I shared the game with my daughter, both of us love this game. It took me about 2 months to finaly beat the game. The only draw back of this game is once I beat it I have no desire to play it any more.

A new zelda for a new audience
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have played all major zelda games since the nes. This game is completely different . Which is good but also bad for older zelda fans. The dungeons are easy the boss battles are easy the exploring element is still present and the story is still the same we all love.

Greatest Game Ever!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Wow! All I can say is this game is absolutely amazing. The graphics are wonderful and so many hours of play time. I am not a huge gamer and I love this game, along with my husband (who is much better at video games than myself). I highly recommend this game for people of all ages.

Amazing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is absolutely incredible! I'm not a big fan of open world games, but I find myself exploring more, and looking for secrets more than any other game. The controls, story, and atmosphere presented are also on point. A must have for any gamer, not just Legend of Zelda fans.

Broken but beautiful
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably one of my favorite Zelda games from the series. However, it does fall short in one area, the weapon system is well…horrible. Your weapons, break. All the time. Defat a boss and get a weapon? It will break. Open a chest and get a weapon? It will break. In other words what use to be fun, collecting weapons that is, now is meaningless. You never want to use them because they, let’s say it together, break.

Best Game Ever
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best Zelda game to date. Not only does it offer free roam throughout the entire game, the classic details of every past Zelda game are intricately woven in. Graphics are unique and music is INCREDIBLE. The storyline can be as straight forward or as complicated as you see fit.
