I've been hard pressed to find a game that could stack-up against The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask. The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild blows these two out of the water. The expanse of the game is beyond what I was expecting and seems to be even larger than Skyrim by my estimation. The greatest part about this is that the whole world is yours to explore as you would like. I've only explored probably 3/10ths of the world and I have been playing for about three weeks now.
Be prepared to find everything you need. NOTHING is handed to you on a silver platter, you really have to work for and find everything yourself, and when you do you should expect to not keep whatever you find for very long. Things break constantly. If you want to keep something then you better plan on not using it. Save your most powerful weapons for the more powerful enemies. With all of that said, finding everything yourself makes the game so much more satisfying.
If you are thinking of getting a Switch and The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild I would do it regardless of if you are an avid or just a casual gamer. Even if you don't make much progress in the game's main story you will still feel satisfied in being able to just run around exploring the world that is completely open to you. Just have fun with it!

To start, this game was a blast to explore. Being able to go pretty much anywhere you can see is a great feature to any game. The collectibles were great fun to find, and I really liked the shrine puzzles. In some ways the game felt more like a different series with a Zelda skin put over it though. I missed the old formula and sense of progression from the other games - gradually receiving items to help you solve specific and more complex puzzles. The difficulty was a bit strange as well. I may have had a knack for picking all the wrong places to head (which would be a bit strange in such an open world game), but I found myself constantly one shot by enemies if I didn't perfectly execute dodges and parries. It was a fun game, but a few flaws kept it from being the amazing experience to me that others seemed to find it.

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild is the first original entry for a home based system since Skyward Sword and the wait was well worth it. Nintendo has created one of the most interesting and immersive open worlds in games today, making Hyrule a vast and often times very dangerous land. When you think you are nearing the end don't be surprised if you happen to stumble upon a new secret or even a new village as I learned in my latest play through. While it may not be my favorite Zelda game (Ocarina of Time is still #1) it is my favorite open world game. The game has an enjoyable story but lacks the strong dungeons and boss fights that fans of the franchise are accustomed to. Rather then having a standard dungeon with epic boss fights Nintendo in a way made the entire world one massive dungeon with many different points of interest and a few safe regions. The Switch gives players the option to play Zelda on the go with the tablet or on tv and both options work great and look amazing.

I've been playing this game for about 30 hours, so far, and, I've been having a blast! The graphics are great, the music is great, the story is great! I really recommend this to anyone who has a switch. My only con about this game is that the weapons break too easily. Can't wait for the sequel to come out!

This game is a huge leap from a traditional Zelda game. I am accustomed to a mostly linear adventure where a dungeon has one item required to finish it, then it is helpful in the next. BotW turns that on its head. Weapons break, dungeons are optional, and you can play it like a survival horror if you wish. This game is huge, open, and great to explore.

While I own other Zelda games this one is the first that I have played and let me tell you it is worth every penny you pay for it. This game is beyond fun, the open world and array of main quest, side question, memory missions, and ever present enemies will have you playing for days without getting bored. The game is set up so there is really no right or wrong way to play, you can go to any part of the map at any time. However you may want to wait in some cases because it might be easier later on after you get some gear. Along with the freedom to play however you wish, you will also find that there is a lot to this game, even after to complete missions or beats shrines there is a lot to explore and do. Plus Amiibo do things in this game, not only the Zelda characters but all amiibo can be used to provide gear and supply. There are no difference between the Wii U and the Switch version so just pick which ever system you prefer to play. Or if you are like me buy both.

I had no idea what to expect when i purchased this game. I only have about 25 hours of play so far, but what I can say is this game has amazing controls, story and the graphics are really good. If you are a fan of any Zelda game, then prepared to be blown away. My only complaint is how quickly your weapons degrade. Overall, I recommend this game.

What can I say about this Zelda? It is a game that requires no direction, want to run on the beach for hours with your horse? Go for it, want to stand and pick off monsters during a blood moon? Who's stopping you? This is a great game that allows your frustration to boil at capacity and then doesn't shame you when you want to chase blue rabbits for days on end. There is a unicorn too so that's fun. I spent maybe 6 months part-time on this game to beat it, the best six months of my life. I feel lost with this game being "over" it was challenging, and inspirational, and I am lost until the next Zelda is released. Save the girl, kill the pigs, and live your best life.

I went into this game with very high expectations after all of the reviews started going live for it and because I'm a huge Zelda fan. This game did not disappoint. It presents an open world that begs you to get lost in and rewards your exploration like only a Zelda game can. The characters are fantastic, the score is amazing and the gameplay is among the best that Zelda has had to offer. Tons of puzzles all over the map in the form of the shrines that each bring enough challenge to be fun and rewarding, but not so much that you would leave frustrated. The combat is very well rounded and mixes well with the environment to make almost every enemy encounter feel like a puzzle in it's own right. With the weapon durability system, you also get to constantly switch up your fighting styles by being forced to use a new weapon.
If you are a Zelda fan or just a fan of open worlds in general, this game will offer you countless hours of entertainment.

open world, solid graphics, framerate drops are not a big issue, good replay value, lots of quests, tons of stuff to keep you busy if you want to complete 100%, several different ways to beat enemies and solve puzzles, and I believe it supports every single amiibo that is out (you may only get some food/fruit and rupees but it's still something)

I was never a big fan of the Legend of Zelda franchise however after playing this game I can safely say that all changes. This game features fantastic gameplay, an intriguing story, and an open world that never feels too overwhelming. Great for casual and hardcore gamers alike. One of Nintendo's best games since the N64 era. Highly Recommended!

I absolutely loved this game! This has all the best things about Zelda: story, puzzles, and more quests than you can shake a stick at. The open world environment is pretty awesome and is definitely reminiscent of Skyrim just not quite as large. The weapon system was annoying at first but once you get used to it, it's not so bad.

I just got my copy of Zelda and I love it. This title single handedly was the driving force for me getting a Nintendo Switch. I'm a lifelong gamer but haven't had a Nintendo Console since the Gamecube. Breath of the Wild is a top notch, open world, action-adventure game. There is tons to do in this game and the game is stuffed with character.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Zelda: BOTW) is a brand-new take on the classic franchise. The biggest complaint I have about the game is the breaking weapons, but later on in the game it becomes slightly less of an issue. The scope of this project is amazing, the graphics are beautifully depicted. I was worried about the graphics looking cartoony as they did in the trailers, but that's really only the characters, and somehow it's fitting. There's quite a large learning curve to the combat system. While the controls are simple, it doesn't seem terribly easy to attack groups of multiple enemies early on when you're weak. One of my favorite features is the mounted combat, you can draw your weapon while riding a horse and lock-on to an enemy and your horse will automatically ride around them, automatically circling backing around for another pass to allow you to strike them. The puzzles in the various shrines around the world are fun, interesting, and challenging, and is essential to advancing Link's capabilities throughout the game.
Overall the game offers a lot of depth and an interesting storyline, good gameplay mechanics, great sound/music, and another epic adventure as Link.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the latest entry in Nintendo's popular The Legend of Zelda series. The game is available on both the Nintendo Switch and Wii U. I played every mainline Zelda game and was very excited to play this game. Breath of the Wild offers a large sandbox open world for players to explore and interact with. Players can choose to follow the main storyline or do other tasks/quests. There are some villages and towns with many NPCs to speak with and do side quests for. There are many items, weapons, and equipment to collect. In addition to swords, Link can also fight with axes, spears and bows. However, weapons now have durability and break quite frequently, which can be a bit annoying, but weapon drops are quite frequent. The story is on par with other Zelda games and isn't the main focus of this game. However, Breath of the Wild is the first Zelda game to feature full voice acted cutscenes.

Not perfect, but all the good more than makes up for the bad. There are some frame rate dips and sometimes very low contrast scenes. Everything else about the gameplay is excellent and the amount of content is several times more than the typical Nintendo game. This barely displaces the SNES Zelda game as the best in the series in my opinion.

Let me preface this with the fact that I'm NOT a Zelda fan. I've played the original on the NES, played some of a Link to the Past on the SNES and tinkered with Twilight Princess. The only Zelda game I've played at length prior to BOTW was Wind Waker.
I pre-order BOTW with the Switch since it was the hyped game at the console's launch. It didn't take long for me to be immersed in the open world of the game. Before long I was playing all night, 6-8 hours straight. I haven't played a game for that long since I was in college and I turn 40 in a few months!
I have loved every minute of this game. The exploration, the puzzles, the action...it has it all. Even my 5 year old daughter loves sitting beside me to watch me play! I can see why this game is getting so much praise...it deserves it. Best game I've played in a very long time. I don't pay full price for many games, but this is one that is worth every penny.
