This game takes me back to my childhood. Not in the retro "I remember this" sense but the "Holy crazy, I'm immersed" sense. After completing the opening area the whole world is at your joycons. You get assigned the main objective from the start (no surprise, kill Ganon). I'll go out on a quest pursuing a main objective but will forget it along the way with side quests and AMAZING terrain that encourages exploration. I've gone 3 days without making progress on the main objective, not because I feel like I need to grind out the side missions, but because the side missions help me understand Link and the story at a greater depth. I have nothing bad to say about this game. NOTHING!!! I was concerned about weapons that are easily destroyed but I even love that now. Managing my weapons is something I actively have to do rather than have 2-3 main weapons I use which makes the gameplay far more diverse and entertaining. If you have a switch this is the only game you need in the library. I let a coworker spend 10 minutes with my switch and the game alone and he went out immediately afterwards to purchase a switch just for this game. The says enough to me...

I've played through this game before and really enjoyed it. I bought a copy for my young nephew, and he is enjoying it too. This game is built on discovery and exploration and using whatever material you find in order to defeat enemies and complete the goals of the game. If you have never played a Zelda game before, this is a good place to start.

It's an amazing game. I grew up playing Zelda Ocarina of Time and it is one of my favorite games ever. I never thought there would be another Zelda game that could pull me in like that but I was definitely wrong.

Looks fantastic. It is great on a TV as well as on the portable screen. Game play is also really good. Definitely liking the open world aspect. You can really go almost anywhere. Only drawback so far is the breaking of weapons gets old real fast. Especially when you're in the middle of a combo on a boss or other strong enemy.

The last Zelda game I played was for the N64, so I was super excited to try out this new open world Zelda game. So far the experience has been pretty great. There are so many elements that come from the previous games that you know right away you are playing a Zelda game. The developers have done a great job in working in old elements but using a fresh take on how they are implemented. One example is the Shrines, which feel much like older dungeons except typically each of them focuses on one area of central gameplay mastery and no longer have maps and keys required to play through. Still each shrine feels like a puzzle to be solved and adds more complexity and depth to the gameplay. The only downside I have yet encountered is the fact that Link's signature horse, Epona, is only accessible through the purchase of an extra Amiibo action figure, which are pretty hard to find. I would of liked to have had Epona as an optional/unlock-able in-game extra, much like the Master Sword and Link's signature shield. But all in all it has been a great game and would highly recommend to any one who is interested.

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the wild is a spectacular game that'll have you hooked as soon as you start playing. It's open world nature makes it different from other main series Zelda games that tend to follow the Ocarina of time formula. Open world with lots of exploration this game is a must buy and must play for 2017.

I love Zelda games, and I feel that this was an amazing step up from previous games. The mechanics are awesome, I love the new controls for fights, the graphics are beautiful, the world is totally worth exploring, and the storyline - as always - is well thought out and connects well to other games. The main quest side characters are fleshed our well, and so are many of the NPCs in the towns and wandering the map. The only (small) drawback is that, with such a gigantic world, it is sometimes a little boring having to run through empty fields, desert, etc. to get where you have to go, or wait for the rain to stop to continue climbing to finish something related to the main quest. Despite this, the main quest is awesome (and you don’t feel pressured to finish it as fast as possible and you can actually spend time exploring the world), the side quests are fun (although sometimes not very rewarding), and the DLC is a must-get, in my opinion. I hope you enjoy this game!

The huge open world is filled beautifully with great attention to detail. It's lands are varied and exiting to explore. I never feel like I'm looking at the same thing twice when I'm actually in a brand new area. I've spent hours just exploring and barely done anything with the main quest and had a ton of fun doing it.

Excellent game. Look great, plays great, so much to explore and discover! Cons: music, lack of traditional dungeons/gadgets, breakable weapons, almost too much freedom distracting you from getting to the main story

Zelda BotW alone is reason enough to drop $300 on the new Switch. The open world concept for Zelda is great. You can get lost exploring for hours or rush through the story mode. Story is excellent, graphics are excellent, and gameplay is excellent.

Breath of the Wild isn’t a game I can say does new things. It’s a game I can say does things better. There’s a polish here in the gameplay department that doesn’t redefine, but instead outshines all before it. An open world so perfectly adjusted, so meticulously balanced, and so inviting to everyone of all skill types is the new Zelda. While I will miss some of the old traditions, I welcome this new breath of fresh wilderness. Thus, the game was named perfectly for what it is, even if its framerate and story don’t top the traditions it left behind. Here’s to another five year wait to see what’s next.

I have to respect Nintendo for delaying this game until it was ready. At first, I was a bit upset that they didn't ship for the 2016 holidays, but now I'm glad they made sure the game was everything I expected and more. If you're a Zelda fan, you're going to love the game, although it does mark a departure from the dungeon-based Zeldas of the past. The map is massive and filled with secrets, so not having the standard dungeon levels isn't really too big of a loss. The game is absolutely challenging enough without dungeons, almost too challenging. I love this game, and I know I'm not even halfway through it. It'll be interesting to see how the upcoming DLC turns out. I hope it can add a lot to the game and keep it interesting for years, although I believe it already will be anyway. Great game, probably the best open world game there is.

An ambitious, new open-world direction for the series I'm thrilled Nintendo decided to take. Typically their games have stayed very formulaic and "safe" over the years, and they finally stepped out of their comfort zone and delivered an instant classic that I will continue to play for years on end. The game doesn't hold your hand at all, reminiscent of old Zelda titles. Pretty easy for anyone to pick up and play, with a good sense of challenge being there for those looking for harder challenges. Death isn't penalized heavily, you just pick up a little ways off from where you died last, with your death location marked on the map. The only things I don't care for is the fact that weapons break with no way to repair or restore them, so melee weapons basically have ammo. You do get used to it, and it works well with the way they designed it, and it's not hard to get new weapons, so I can't dock any stars because of it.

This game is phenomenal. The Legend of Zelda series is my favorite in gaming, and I've never felt so drawn to obsessively playing an entry in the series as I have with this one. It's so easy to get distracted from the "main storyline" for dozens of hours, exploring the world and trying things out. Even after completing the game, I keep going back to it because I know that there are sections of the map that I have hardly even touched. Yes it's not a perfect game- frames do drop on occasion and the main dungeons aren't as large as I'd like, but the shrines and world are full of excellent puzzles, and the physics and environmental engine combined with climbing+gliding traversal allow for a playground unlike any other. Best yet, every playthrough will allow for a different story and experience due to the sheer magnitude of the world.

This game is challenging, but very fun. The world is very immersive and complex. The visuals are gorgeous. I very much like puzzle games, and this game utilizes this in progression to the storyline, which is also great. I would definitely recommend if you are a Zelda fan and like good puzzle/story games.

People regularly complain that Nintendo games tend to follow a script, and that you always know what you are getting from a new entry in an old franchise- not so for Breath of the Wild. I am going to be spoiler free in this, and try not to ruin any surprises by simply saying that I appreciate the effort Nintendo went through to make a Zelda game full of exploration, that let's you tackle the adventure in the order you want, though the difficulty can definitely be punishing if you stray WAY ahead of the curve. I often hear people complain about wanting the feeling of exploration they got from the first Zelda, and I think this is a good, modern way of giving that feeling to the players without pandering to nostalgia. It's a lot of fun. My little 7 year old niece is also in love with it, so it's not just for grown ups.
