LoZ: BotW is one of the best in the series to date. Controls are tight, world has many things to do (doesn't suffer as much from the empty world like Twilight Princess did). The story is standard Zelda, the difference is that the game lets you do the dungeons in any order. As such, all the runes (special powers) are given from the get-go. The difficulty of the dungeons is on the easier side. The largest complaint I have is with the weapons system. All equipment besides armor (like sword, shield, and bow) can break on repeated usage. This ends up meaning most weapons break after killing a couple enemies. This becomes more of a annoyance than anything else. Game is close to being perfect if it didn't have this problem. Also be warned, the game runs on the Switch with a higher clock on the hardware, so on battery performance does deplete faster than some other games. That's to be expected though. In the end, it's an essential play on the Switch and showcases the power of the console pretty well. It's fun to play on TV and in handheld.

Now, I have never really been a Zelda fan (Ocarina of Time was the last Zelda game played), but this is one fantastic game. The graphics, although cell shaded, have many stunning & breathtaking moments. It definitely seems like the developers really spent their time making even the most minute details stand out. The only complaints I have would be the game is much too easy and the story is quite boring. But the quality of gameplay and expansiveness definitely make up for these shortcomings. Overall, this game really stands out in the Open World genre. Definitely would recommend.

Breath of the Wild is by far the greatest LoZ I've ever played. The control scheme takes some getting used to, but before long, you'll be a pro. The map size is fantastic, having already spent numerous hours just climbing mountains to see what I might find hidden within them. The story seems fairly expensive, but I've spent more time wandering/exploring/scavenging than anything. Definitely give this a solid 5*, would recommend for any gaming fan and Switch owner.

While I suspect some folks might be irritated by the weapons breaking all over the place, I liked the forced improvisation. This game is beautiful, mechanically interesting, and it has a solid story you can track down and piece together. The environmental storytelling isn't quite on par with Dark Souls, but it's leagues above Nintendo's other outings, and it makes for some very poignant moments for longtime Zelda fans. One of my favorite entries in the series.

I am not a nintendo fan boy. Last time I purchased a nintendo was the 64. I finally came around to this system and got it day one along with zelda BOTW. And I have to say. great job Nintendo. This game was great. A lot of fun. The story is great. Great addition to the lore. The graphics are not next gen but pretty good for nintendo.. game runs well and didnt have any issues. If you have or are getting a switch. Zelda is a must no matter if your new to the story.

This game has it all. Amazing graphics, great story, classic Zelda gameplay with many new features, and a beautiful open world to explore.

Very good game must play, game of the year, spent many hours on it

Although its always the same story and essentially the same characters, Nintendo manages to push out another banger. I haven't played tears of the kingdom yet as I still want to finish this one first. That being said, this is my favorite Zelda game so far. But I tend to say that with most of the big releases when they come out. (excluding those gameboy versions). This game is just massive in it's open world. Everything is essentially a collectible of some sort which you can use for cooking or some sort of potion to help with your quest. Or if you are like me, just hoard it all and try to max it all out. There are different outfits you can collect along the way to help you sneak, fight, swim, defend, and etc. Of coarse if you are reading this at this time, you probably already know all of this by now. If you don't and aren't sure and own a switch, well just get it already. This is a must for the system. If Nintendo games where all part of the Mafia and they had some sort of rank, this one would be a Don.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is an incredible step forward for the series. The open world concept, as presented by the talents developers at Nintendo, allows for a new level of exploration and discovery that I have not experienced in any other game. The combat is responsive, challenging, and rewarding. This game really pushes you to think outside the box to solve all of its many many puzzles and discover its many many hidden secrets. 100 hours in and I still have so much to discover and experience. This is a definitive experience that should not be missed.

I haven't played a Zelda game since The Wind Waker and even that I didn't play a ton of but I got the Switch day one and needed something to buy so I picked this up. I had seen trailers so I knew it would at least be a pretty game but I'm shocked at how much I love it. It's a great open world game full of charm. It has bits of Skyrim, Dark Souls, Far Cry and the like but it's got all of those beat in looks. Perfect game for the Switch too. I get so addicted to open world games it's great to have the option of bringing it to bed to get a few more minutes out of the game.

When it was announced that this game was going to be an open world style I wondered how they would spread out a Legend of Zelda game over such a huge map but after playing it I wonder no more. The use of traditional LOZ problem solving just to survive in the overworld is intuitive and fun. Then the shrines and dungeons are challenging without being frustrating. All in all this is a fantastic addition to the Legend of Zelda mythos and timeline.

This has been a ton of fun so far, and I've barely cracked the story. The freedom to explore the world is great, and while you technically aren't blocked from going anywhere, you can definitely tell when you aren't "ready" for an area. The constant struggle of making sure you have enough weapons, food, armor, and keeping track of both enemies, puzzles, and the elements there is no shortage of things to keep you on edge. A must have for any gamer!

If you're asking yourself if you should shell out the money for the new Nintendo console in order to play this game the answer is yes!! This game is absolutely amazing. It's beautiful graphics, intriguing gameplay, open world never-ending aspect take you away.. we have spent countless hours playing this game and still feel like there's so so much to do. It's easily the most fun game in my opinion since Animal Crossing and my husband is obsessed. Just do it, just get the game, just get the console, you won't regret it. This is the Zelda games you've been waiting for

This game is absolutely amazing. The amount of things you can do and the different ways to solve problems make this game incredibly fun and rewarding. My best advice to have the most fun is to go in blind, don’t look things up online. Explore and use common sense to solve problems. You’ll be immersed in the level of detail in this game. I haven’t felt a sense of wonder and amazement in a video game in many years. The world is huge and expansive and you can go pretty much anywhere at any time. Do not hesitate to try this one out.

This is the ultimate game. Link is the best. I am not even close to making a dent in this game. But so many things. Really amazing. The graphics are great. Who cares if only 1080p. The open world and endless bombs. All the old characters and new. Just so much. It is a game that will take a while. But you will enjoy all the challenges along the way. Very thought out detail. Just love it.

I want to start out by saying that I've played every Zelda console game. They are all truly superb games and have their own identity. Enter Breath of the Wild. The ability to roam where ever you please in a vast, rich world that is Hyrule. I've spent numerous hours just wandering the various sections of the map finding secrets, tackling challenging packs of enemies, and engaging with NPCs to complete a quest. Each encounter is fun and satisfying to complete. Most importantly, this game is just FUN. Nintendo has truly made a masterpiece with this game.

The graphics in this game are sickkkkk! It has an amazing story as well and is open world! The game is massive.

There is so much to do in this game. You will get hundreds of hours of content to explore in just your first playthrough alone if you try to 100% complete this. It has stunningly outstanding graphics for a game thats on less powerful hardware than XB1 and PS4. It also sounds incredible, plays like an absolute dream, and its presentation oozes with possibly Nintendo's best polish ever seen. Arguably the best action-adventure game ever created. The highest recommendation, and was completely worth getting on launch day with the Nintendo Switch!

I have enjoyed the past games and feel that this is a perfect next step in the Zelda/Link lineage. Good story, game play, and overall immersive world.
