Good game, but very tedious. I know a lot of people really enjoyed this game, but it wasn't for me.

This has got to be the most over rated game of the last 10 years. If you like games like Dark Souls, you might enjoy it. If you don't like getting killed 40 times an hour, skip it.

    Legendary Remarkable Impactful

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild has superior game play, story and graphics. It is remarkable because the story has impeccable depth and breadth. Hyrule is massive both on the ground and above. The adventure log guides you on your journey but your discovery is greatly personalized in an open world system. You get to make decisions at your pace, level of interest and curiosity. The game is impactful for me because I played it almost 10 months after it was released and it took 3 months for me to complete almost 100% of everything you can do in the game (except collecting 900 Korok seeds [I only collected about 130] and upgrading earrings to max level [it is unnecessary if you upgrade armor]). I also purchased the expansion pass that adds additional story elements including varied game play features such as the challenging, Trial of the Sword. I completed both DLC packs (I did not play Master Mode). I have played every Zelda game made for a Nintendo console. LoZ BotW is my favorite in the series and even after 2 months of not playing it, I still relish and recall the game in my memory with vivid details, admiration and appreciation for the game.

    Amazing Open World Adventure Awaits

I love the Zelda franchise, but ever since Windwaker, all I saw was a decline in my own interest. Everything changed with this installment. The mystery of the story and the incredible exploration of the world led to hours of enjoyment. Seeing Hyrule and being able to access all points allowed for an incredible experience. 10/10 without a doubt!

    Biggest exploration game yet

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have played almost all Legend of Zelda games. Love them all. Have played No Man's Sky, Final Fantasy (9 and 15) and many other open world free roaming exploration games. This may not be in scale sizing the largest, but it feels like the largest and most well planned exploration adventure game yet. Every corner of its massive open world Hyrule is filled with puzzles, intelligent enemies, and collectibles. There is always something to do. And the "to dos" don't feel like chores. They are interesting and engaging. Topping it all, the given tools make exploration and puzzle solving intuitive and responsive. Story is as great as any other Zelda title. But now even more engaging due to voice acting finally implemented to cutscenes. There is still reading to do out of cutscenes though. Visually more beautiful than ever, both in tv and portable mode. No more framerate issues due to latest update as of March 31st 2017. This game feels like the culmination not only of Legend of Zelda series, but of its genre. It borrows the best elements of Monster Hunter, Witcher, Minecraft, and even Spliter Cell's stealth, to create what is currently the best video game I have played in 20 years.

    Marvelous Game

Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, is absolutely fantastic, the game is well structured, the lighthearted and fun characters will give you a laugh. The monsters are original as always, and the story is classic. The bright and beautiful graphics make for a vibrant and lively world. You can go quite literally anywhere with Link's newly found climbing ability. The map is enormous, I've pumped probably 35 hours into the game and I still am surprised at what I can find. The cooking is simple and fun. The side quests don't feel like rehashed copy and pastes. The shrines you find around the world are fun and challenging puzzles that take some time and thought to actually figure out. You can customize Link with clothes you find out in the world or buy in a store and makes for some fun outfits. You will run into frame rate issues, (especially in Korok Forest) but nothing game breaking to the point where you can't play it. And, especially if you have the Switch, you can play the game anywhere you'd like. This game will not disappoint. A truly ingenious game created by a remarkable team.

I could take the time and write a BOOK of how good this game is, how at every turn it turned out to be better then i thought. yes we all know most zelda games are good, but this... this is different, this is a one of a kind experience! this game will wow you over and over again! im 80 hours in, 80 hours! and im only 19% done... the graphics, story, and sound are all amaizing and will touch your heart, but its the gameplay what will keep you on the edge of your seat and will have me playing for another 100+ hours. do your self a favor and get the pro controller too, and good luck finding amiibos!( please dont get those hacked disks or nfc chips, support nintendo- they put their heart into this game and it shows, they took their time and made a game that you'll remember for the rest of your life... a few bucks wont hurt you)

    Best Zelda experience to date

    Posted .

TL;DR The game has its gripes but is near perfect. This is how you revitalize a franchise that was starting to grow stale in it's formula. I bought a Switch just to play this game and I do not regret my purchase. PROS: + HUGE OPEN WORLD - Lots of interesting places and things to discover. It's quite exhilarating to scale a mountain in order to get a better view of everything around you and then paraglide to points of interest. If you can see a place on the map, you can get to it. + COMBAT EXPERIMENTATION - Combat experimentation is fun and rewarding, for awhile (more explanation in 'cons' section). + FUN AND VARIED COMBAT (FOR AWHILE) - Different enemy types are interesting and have specific tactics that clearly telegraph their moves making combat a rewarding learning experience and almost never feels cheap. + RPG ELEMENTS - The RPG elements fit very nicely into the Zelda universe and give the game a lot of depth. Mountable horses have different stats, enemies can have different elemental types along with stronger variations, weapons, armor, and shields have wildly different stats and abilities, food and elixirs provide different buffs, etc. + GAME DIFFICULTY - The game is relatively difficult compared to previous Zelda games. You really have to assess combat situations before entering the fray and many enemies are punishing. You will die, many times, but you do learn, with time, and with learning comes triumph and satisfaction. There's a DLC that adds Master Mode for the most hardcore players or those who found Normal too easy. + WEAPON DURABILITY - Weapon and shield durability forces you to continually hunt for new gear and keeps combat interesting and tense. + SHRINES - There's over 120 'shrines' which are peppered all over the map which act like mini-dungeons. They usually can be completed in 10 minutes or less and usually involve the use of several of Link's Runes that give you the ability to move metallic objects from a distance, throw bombs, summon ice pillars, or even freeze objects and apply force to them to launch into enemies or to other places to help solve puzzles. + NO HAND HOLDING - Doesn't explain much, doesn't hold your hand, and expects you to learn everything from the world, NPCs, and experimentation. CONS: - COMBAT GETS STALE - Combat experimentation becomes less effective as you become stronger. Ambushes with bombs, chu chu jellies, stasis, etc, all become less and less rewarding as enemies become stronger. - CAN'T SUMMON HORSES FROM ANYWHERE - Horses cannot be summoned from anywhere. The DLC solves this with 2 different solutions, but it should have been in the base game and been an early quest/reward before you spend 50+ hours exploring the map. - INVENTORY MANAGEMENT AND GENERAL UI - Inventory management and the menu UI could use a little work. You will fall in live with this game.

An excellent game with beautiful graphics and amazing story, character designs, game mechanics and mesmerizing music! What I search in a game is originality and the feeling of actually making decisions and growing. I get all of that with this breathtaking game, it provides great moments and a lot of engagement to explode and learn. I recommend to anyone who is looking for a good game to have a long lasting experience.
