Fun game so far. It is a far bigger map than the other Zelda’s and this version reminds me a bit of Skyrim with some of the features.

A must have game for the switch since there is not much out. Super fun to play zedla in open world. However main story is pretty short and most of the game is grinding.

I've been a Zelda fan since the original 80s hit when I was 8yo. From what ive seen Nintendo made this the best one yet. The weather and sounds within the environment make for a lifelike world around Lync. Will update as soon as i log some hours in the game.

Amazing. Rarely have I ever been so enraptured in a game's world. Breath of the Wild will easily go down in the annals of videogame history as one of the best ever created.

Easily, the best Zelda game EVER. The art style is fantastic! And the DLC is worth it just for the upgraded difficulty

    Zelda: Breath of the Boring

There are possible spoilers below. If you literally want to know nothing about this game then look away. This is the most over-hyped and overrated game in the last 10 years. It's that simple. Just some history. I have played and completed every single Zelda game ever released. Yes, even Skyward Sword which this game makes look like a 10/10. This is NOT your typical Zelda game. It's an open world mess. Here are some of the major negatives: (1)A MASSIVE open world. Seriously. Gigantic. It's also EMPTY. Lifeless. Boring. Dull. They could have literally cut the map in half and it would have still been massive and empty and bland. (2)No dungeons. There are four, yes FOUR, Divine Beasts that pose as really bad "dungeons" in this game. That's it. And they are nowhere near the fun that Zelda dungeons typically are with well crafted puzzles and challenging layouts. (3)Heart containers and Stamina can be raised by grinding out 120 Shrines. Each Shrine gives an Orb. Every 4 orbs you can raise your heart level or stamina level. There is a point in the game you can swap stamina for hearts or vice versa and trust me you WILL want to do this. More on this later. I mentioned Stamina. Get used to it. This game is literally designed around it. Your stamina determines how high you can climb, swim or run without rest. It also determines how effective special weapon moves are, etc. You literally can't run 5 feet without running out of stamina and in a world this large that is a really huge problem. Wanna take a swim? Well don't go far because your stamina will run out and you will drown in a shallow pond. The shrines themselves are the definition of repetitive. A simple puzzle or enemy and done. But it takes much longer than you think. You will be SICK of these after 30 of them. (4)Rain. It rains constantly. No big deal right? Wrong. The brilliant designers at Nintendo made it where when it's raining you might as well put your controller down and go get a drink. You can't climb when it's raining. That means you can't explore. That means you are left looking at this massive world waiting on it to stop raining. Also, if you happen to have a metal weapon equipped, lightning can hit you and kill you. (5)Weapon Durability. Now to what I consider the worst mechanic in the game and it's not even close. Your weapons break. They will break. Often. Like every 2 enemies often. Like every 10 hits often. Every single weapon breaks. You can only carry a certain amount of these weapons of course, but you can increase the slots to carry more. That requires Korok Seeds which I will address below. So you will literally be spending a HUGE amount of time in EVERY SINGLE ENCOUNTER that isn't a very weak enemy equipping weapon after weapon as they break. This isn't just an early game thing. This is an entire game thing. Now, you CAN get unbreakable weapons like the Master Sword but that will require a certain amount of hearts to get (reference how to get heart containers above). But again the designers at Nintendo messed this up too. Even the Master sword must be recharged for 10 minutes after using it for a few fights. So it may not break but it will be useless to you most of the time. It is astounding to me that they put this mechanic in. It ruins the game. (6)Menus. The menu design is HORRID. Illogical in layout and you will be in the menu's a TON. (7)Korok Seeds. Spread throughout the world are 900 korok seeds. It takes exponentially increasing amounts of these to increase slots for weapons, etc. There is really nothing to do but mark your map and go find these. It's incredibly boring and repetitive. Just like the shrines. (8)Controls. The controls overall aren't very good. They aren't consistent and nothing feels solid. The controls for your horse are the worst though with the promise of it getting better the longer you keep a horse. It doesn't. (9)Enemies. There are about 10 enemy types in the game with a few elite variants. Yep, about 10. That's why after the 10th village of monsters you kill for yet another chest containing some weapon that will break in 10 hits you will start skipping any fights at all. There is literally no reason to engage. You don't level. They don't drop any items you really need. It's just atrocious design. (10)Story. There isn't one. Link wakes up with the ever useful "amnesia" trick which of course means they don't have to craft a story and trust me, they didn't. You will find memory triggers throughout the land with no idea where they are that will unlock memories which are just lazy short cutscenes from the past. (11)Music. There really isn't any music to speak of. In past Zelda games it was memorable and the game almost threw it at you. Not here. In fact, I was literally falling asleep playing this game because for large parts of it you are running around playing in silence with the crickets chirping in the game. (12)Cooking. Another really awkward convoluted mechanic with a weird menu thing that makes you hold so many items together and then throw them in the pot that you must target, which they miss half the time anyways. (13)Exploration. There is NO PAYOFF for exploring. You get nothing cool. You find nothing unique. You will climb mountain after mountain. You might find a chest here or there but guess what it contains? You guessed it! Another bad weapon that will break a few fights later. So sad. (14)Towers. There are tons of towers spread throughout the map that when climbed (which takes forever) will reveal portions of the map. They did this to encourage exploration, the problem being there is really nothing to find. I will guess that just like me you will also tire of this very quickly. Yes, another bland boring mechanic. So that is the game. Really. That's it. You can beat the game very quickly if you are a good player. You just have to advance the story enough to get the quest for the 4 dungeons which is VERY early in the game and then you can fight the boss. Everything else is completely optional and completely average. So you tell me after reading this how in the world this game got so many 5 star reviews or 10 star reviews on other sites. It's absolutely absurd. This is a bad game. Don't buy it. Do not reward Nintendo for this. The sad fact is there are more Nintendo fanboys than we all think and they will just eat up anything Nintendo throws at them. Even games like this. I own all the consoles and a beast of a gaming PC. I don't have an allegiance to a console or company. I just play good games and this game is just not good at all.

    Empty!! Empty!! Empty!!

My.God this game is empty. And boring. And so overrated. With only a handful of the same enemies. That pop up rarely. You can run and run and run and only come across animals and plants - mostly mushrooms. My inventory is full of ingredients I have hunted and gathered in an attempt to make the game more interesting. But then you have to cool with it and that is just as tedious and dull. The novelty of cooking was cute the first few times but it gets really boring really fast. I miss the old system of two or three different color potions. And your weapons are so pathetically fragile. Just a few huts and it shatters like glass. It's terrible and so tedious. And those clubs are everywhere. If it weren't a highly anticipated Zelda game and the only thing really worth playing on the Switch I have no doubt it would have been rated far lower. That plus the risk of being cursed out by Nintendo's crazy fans [something that has already happened to me]
