    Fantastic Game

This is hands down the best Legend of Zelda game I have played in a long time — may have finally dethroned Ocarina of Time as the best ever in my mind. The open world Hyrule is unbelievably vast, and you will constantly find new side quests and Easter eggs from previous games. The shrines are easier than temples from previous Zelda games; however, the quantity and puzzle-like nature of the shrines create an almost Sid Meier’s Civilization-like addiction of “just one more and then I’ll quit for the night.” The Divine Beasts are also easier in my opinion, but this allows the gameplay to be completely non-sequential, freeing you to tackle any of them in practically any order. Overall a fantastic game and must have on the Switch

Back story. I wasn't a massive fan of the Zelda series. My favorites from them all have been the first 3. I also wasn't a fan of Skyrim. I thought it was too wide open and could be boring to play at times. With that out of the way. There is just something about this game, a charm about it, that keeps you coming back. There is so much to do and to be done as well as so many different ways to do one thing. Nintendo has really got a masterpiece on their hands. The story is as great as is put out to be. Nothing disappoints. I've tried finding an issue with the game itself and I really can't.. The only issue I see is the some what unfortunate situation that not all are able to enjoy this game just yet due to Switch supply issues. This is a must own for anyone who owns a Switch. Whether your a Zelda fan or not you will certainly enjoy the various bits of this game making it well worth the price.

This game is pure bliss, there's barely any hand holding and it looks amazing on the Nintendo Switch. I have always heard of how great Legend of Zelda games were, but never really played any as my family never got the games when I was younger. But since I am older now and actually bought a Nintendo Console for myself, I wanted to check what the buzz about this series was. I can say after putting over 30 hours so far into this game that I am already loving it and want to play all the previous titles just to experience them for the first time. If you're hesitant on this game, watch some reviews. If you love open world role playing games, this will be up your alley as the sense of exploration and feeling of defeating a difficult enemy with your skillset is satisfying. Highly recommend this game to anyone even if you have never touched a previous Legend of Zelda title, like myself.

BotW is immersive as it is beautiful. Well crafted with an interesting story line and open world to match. I like the details that go in the game. Day and night, temp variations, consumables, gear durability and of course the puzzles. Another hit from Nintendo.

    Best game of all time!?

This game is not only the best Zelda game but I could easily make the case that it is the best game of all time in it's genre. The open world concept has never been done as well as this and you can easily forget that you are in a game with any boundaries and yet every square inch of the world has it's own unique features. The game play is addicting, complicated, and allows for variation in difficulty for players with different skill sets. This game can easily occupy the completionist for more than 200 hours. More casual players will spend at least 60-100 exploring and completing the game. The $20 DLC is well worth it too, it adds another solid 20-40 hours of game play. It doesn't pack the dollar for dollar punch that the main game does at $60 for 200 hours but $20 for 20-40 is definitely worth it and highly recommended. ENJOY!

    Phenomenal, but with some compromises.

The worldbuilding in this game is unparalleled and by far the best the franchise has ever seen. The world is massive and begging to be explored, with distinct biomes that blend into one another beautifully. It's a size and scope the franchise has never seen and it really brings Hyrule to life. However, there are some drawbacks as well. The open world formula tends to ruin the flow of storytelling, and this is no exception. Speaking of the story, it's a fairly weak story by franchise standards. It's got most of the textbook Zelda story components, but the dungeons were lackluster and largely void of character and the newly implemented shrines can be fun and interesting, but also grow tedious after a while. All in all, this is a phenomenal game and well worth your money, but you should go into it fully aware that the game is not perfect.

Well, there's been a ton of reviews out there telling how great Breath of The Wild is, and they go into much more detail. However, I simply want to say that the open world direction is appreciated. I think the graphics are great, given the power of the Switch and look great on TV and in portable mode. Sometimes the frame rate drops a bit, but for the most part it is consistent. The character models look great -they are simple and do not require too much detail. The gameplay is fun,and intuitive. It is not perfect, however. Just like most Action RPGs out there, can get a bit repetitive. Also, the weapon system is a bit annoying, especially if you have a acquired a special weapon, since it will eventually break. But other than that, it is a great addition to the Legend of Zelda series (my favorite one is Wind waker). Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, I have had very little play time for this game so far. My teenager keeps the card in his Switch most of the time, and plays it as often as he is allowed. I could do without the weapon durability, especially early on when you have a small inventory, and it seems like they are constantly breaking. The puzzles have been the highlight for me. While some are mind numbingly easy, some have really taxed my brain (and cause my kid to seek guidance from the internet.) The length of time the game is likely to take to clear it, which is something I like, may be it's downfall in my kids eyes. I'm honestly surprised he's stuck it out this long.

The game is beautiful and the world is packed with places to explore and things to do. The gameplay is solid and the combat is challenging. The breakable weapons/shields can be frustrating at times but it adds another layer to the combat.

    Great Zelda game

I've always loved a good Zelda game, whether I've had the system it was on or played it on a console owned by friends or family. This, without a doubt, is the absolute definition of not only a great Zelda game, but an absolute system seller. This is something that would've made the Wii U a system seller if it wasn't released after production was stopped. But as a launch title for the Switch, Nintendo really hit the ground running. It's beautiful and expansive. There's always more to discover. And it's just going to be growing more. It's also difficult and is one of the few games that consistently gets the open world model right. Everything you do feels like it's just adding to your preparedness for the endgame rather than feeling like a distraction, which is something that a lot of open world games struggle with. Get the Switch and get this game.

OoT has been my all time favorite Zelda game. I haven't played any of the other Zelda titles besides Majora's mask and coming from those two games alone, I can tell you that BoTW is definitely a huge fresh take on the franchise! The open world is fantastic, the art is beautiful and the biggest thumbs up from me, CHARACTERS ACTUALLY TALK. Unfortunately, like every Zelda game before it, Link has been mute :( There is rumors that the upcoming Post DLC will feature Link talking! Definitely recommend this game to anyone who is a Zelda fan, or is just getting into the franchise. The only caveat of this game, is the weapon breaking system. I HATE this mechanic so much.. But I guess it provides balance of the game. Wish I knew this beforehand, but it's still a great game nonetheless. If you own a Nintendo Switch, you NEED to get this game.

Maybe the Best Launch Game Ever

I'm not generally a Zelda fan. That's not a knock on the series; it just has never been something I've been able to get into. This game is totally different. It's open world, expansive, and provides almost limitless gameplay. I haven't stopped playing it since the launch date. The amount of detail that was programmed into almost everything in the game is incredible. It runs well on both the Switch handheld and on the TV. I'm not the biggest fan of the control scheme, but there are options to change it (even if none of those options feel perfect). I don't want to spoil too much, but aside from Super Mario World, this is probably the best launch game I've ever played.

This game was truly incredible. I want to preface that I haven’t played console games since the PS2. And I’ve never played an entire Zelda game fully. But this game was truly incredible. I was able to play it without any issues, the learning curve is easy and very effective. The game mechanics are simple enough to figure out, yet deep enough to provide surprises after many hours of play. The story within BOTW, is inspiring and heart pounding, it’s beautiful and heart breaking, and it’s so well integrated into the game. Immersive, open world play allows your experience to be completely unique. I couldn’t recommend this game more.. do yourself a favor and play this.

I'll be honest here, I was never a huge Zelda fan growing up with the original NES. I don't know why, but that style of game back in the day didn't interest me much. But Breath of the Wild has converted me to a huge Zelda fan that I never knew existed inside me. I now find myself interested in all of the past games. But this one is so amazing it's impossible to put it into words. I love open world games and this one does it very well. It may not be perfect for everyone, but I love everything about this game. I have spent over 100 hours and I am still not finished. It's crazy how much I still have left to do and find given the time I spent. And every one of those hours was very well spent. Never a dull moment for me. This has become one of my most memorable games of all time.

I bought this for my 8 year old son as a birthday gift. Honestly, having played Ocarina of Time when I was younger, I felt that the gameplay would be difficult for someone his age, and the story would be over his head. He did tell me that he has watched videos on his tablet of someone who played this game, and because of that, he knows what he needs to do and where he needs to go in the game. It still sounds pretty challenging but he sounds like he is up to the task. If I had more time to devote to video games at this point in my life, I might consider trying to play it because it does look really interesting.

One thing you'll learn about this game: Hyrule is huge, and you'll find yourself wanting to explore even while on your way to your next destination. I've found myself taking the scenic route and arriving in town, completely missing the entrance; just sort of dropping in from the top of a nearby hill instead. Not something I'm used to from a Zelda game, but I'm loving it so far. Combine this with a unique story for the series, a colorful cast, cooking up healthy meals , and challenging enemies and dungeons, and you've got a recipe for a game that I'm having trouble putting down. Just a note for pro players that never use items in games because they're saving them for the final boss (you know who you are): USE ITEMS. Increase your attack or defense, give yourself extra hearts and stamina, or you're gonna have a bad time...

This game is not only a strong contender for (my opinion) best rpg of all time, but is shoulder to shoulder for BEST GAME OF ALL TIME with giants like Skyrim, Fallout 3/New Vegas/4, Dragon Age, Mario 64, and Pokémon. The exploration and discovery is truly amazing. You get a sense of constant wonderment and joy when playing this game. I first bought this game the day it was released, along with a Nintendo Switch. Once I completed nearly everything you could do, I was finally satisfied and didn’t play it again for a couple years. I just bought another copy and am playing through my second time now. I’m having a blast! 10 out of 10 would recommend this game.

I have been a long time Legend of Zelda fan, but I have found that the series is lacking in recent installments. Breath of the Wild fixes nearly all of the problems that series has been suffering in recent installments. While daunting at first, the open world provides something incredible around every corner, it is meticulously detailed so that there is not a single nook or cranny that does not provide something for the player. The world itself provides the player with an amazingly immersive experience, giving life to even the peddlers you pass on the road. The dungeons (shrines) are just the right size to challenge the player without being too oppressive, and challenging enough to provide a strong sense of accomplishment as they leave. And the graphics are amazing, if you are in to that sort of thing.

As a player of many open world games, I can say that this game adds a significant element to open world games that no other game has before. Two elements actually. The first being the use of vertical space. It may not seem that important for those of you who haven't played the game yet, but it is very important. It allows you to truly feel free to explore when other games won't allow you to climb mountains etc. The second element is the sense of exploration. Yes other games like the Elders Scroll games also have this, but this game nails it. When you see something strange or interesting in the distance with your binoculars you really want to go see it in person. I would be shocked if future open world games don't take note of this game and try to implement these things in their games.
